Not bad at all! As a licensed Gel nail technician, i think you have done a great job with your self-education in builder gel nails. My first tips i would love to give, is to lightly buff the surface of the natural nail and then going in with the dehydrator.(you also only need a small drop of dehydrator in the crescent of the nail bed up by the cuticle. Also, in order to strengthen the free edge with the extention, whether using a form or tip. One thing i NEVER see. Is an extra "H" bond with the builder gel, after the bonder has been cured, and before you go in with the base layers of of the builder gel to create the nail. The "H" bond is just what it sounds like, its using the builder gel to form the shape of a capital "H" along the free edge and up and down the sides of the existing nail and the area of the new nail.(this will help make longer nails stronger). Lastly, rember to only ever file in ONE direction, otherwise you are compromising the structure of the nail make it easier to split and crack. And the "heat spike" that happens when curing the gel to the natural nail is NOT harmful. Its really just about the bond that is being created/cured and the size and thickness of the natural nail. A wider and thinner nail is going to feel more heat than a thicker/smaller nail. (Pushing the finger down(like smushing the fingerprint area) into the surface you are working on can help(just from personal experience) I truly think youre doing great and i only mean these things as helpful advice. Sorry if i sound like a know it all, thats not my intention at all. Keep it up! And remember to always properly sanitize all surfaces and re-useable tools! Ive seen far to many nail techs using the same file bit or hand file on multiple clients....and its just asking for disaster.

I used the 90 sec or 120 on my lamp which is supposed to be low heat. It only hurts if you stick your hand in all the way. What you should do is sort of ease into the lamp. Start with your hand just outside of the lamp and then slowly move your inside. Or you can put your hand in for a couple seconds and take it out then put it back in for a few seconds. Repeat that a couple times and you should be able to put your hand in fully.
