i don't know if its my city, my nail techs or what but i have been looking for a nail tech to do a gel overlay for over 15 years. every time I ask they don't know what I am talking about. I gave up on it. I am into growing my nails now so i use an acrylic overlay but i found that to be a little harsh on my nails. now im back to wanting a gel overlay. i have been watching a lot of videos on hard gel over lay and soft gel overlay now building gel etc. i went in to my nail salon and asked for a gel overlay , they say its no such thing. i said can you apply the gel top coat more than once they freaked out lol i am now in search of someone who specializes in natural nails or a nail tech who specializes in gel overlay. yall pray for me
Your comment got me all riled up, that got me rage-typing a reply and when I finally got it all out it ended up being like 6x the length of the average YT comment 🤣 so I ditched that plan & though this reply remains longer than most, still wanted to respond to that ridiculous claim…
So, @TrayLaw , gel-overlays (aka a “structured manicure”; or aka a “gel nail alignment”)definitely DO exist and thousands of international nail professionals are doing these services every single day…BUT- if you really think about it, regardless if he was being genuine and
a.) really believes, according to his knowledge, there’s no such service in existence
OR
b.)he’s straight up lying.
So technically you’re better off with option “c”:running far away😂you could have a very dishonest “pro”doing your nails OR you could have a nail tech working on your nails who isn’t even aware of the existence of one of the most popular systems for nail enhancements, more than tripling in requests over the past few years; an option that at least 70% of private individuals and nail salons have adjusted their offerings to include. So, engaging with this “professional”is ultimately just a lose-lose situation. Don’t return.
And spread the word bc apparently you aren’t clients with preferences and opinions, you’re actually just walking money signs.

Same thing happened to me. In my area they call it a bio-manicure.
I live in South Carolina and there are tons of gel techs(including myself)

I’m going to try it, because I’m finding 2 coats dip gives me too much thickness on the the nails, and this will give me strength without the bulk.
And I’ve seen builder gel now comes in different colors so you don’t have to paint the nails, nice….now which color to choose is my dilemma…😊

why did you not apply base coat after removing the tacky layer and filing? or is the base not needed at this point,right before gel application
The U-Gel is built-in base, therefore you do not need additional base.
Uhm hi i just watched this vid and Subscribed so i have a question....
If i don't have a Flash light to cure and only have and LED Lamp it's still okay to use my LED Lamp right????
I use a lamp for flash cure. Works fine. It has a 15 sec button for that. The flashlight is nice though.

Hi!! Excellent tutorial video. I have been doing my own gel nails at home for several years now and recently I am noticing that my top coat is not staying shiny. It breaks my heart when I remove the tacky layer because the shine goes with it. I have a 54W Melodie Suzie Lamp that is 8 years old but I only use it. Do you think the lamp is shot? I just ordered a new one just in case but curious to know your thoughts as it’s been so frustrating. I also got a brand new OPI gel top coat this week too. Mine was at least a year old. Thank you!!! Love your channel!

If you don’t have to buff the nail plate do you still need to wipe the nail plate with alcohol wipe before applying the gel color?
