Pettersson was out on the ice for the goal against edmonton. Between miller , and hughes on the powerplay. 5 on 5. Majority of time hughes is with miller. Hughes is the best dmen on the nhl. When he's hot he's a sniper, but then he disappears for long stretches at a time, doesn't kill penalties and doesn't stand out defensively. I just think he's going to be overpaid and they shouldn't do it, 40 goals last year yes - but he'll barely sniff 25-30 this year at this pace. I just hate how he's unnoticeable so often, and the concussion was obviously a setback.

Through all this drama and missing games, JT is still 2nd on the team in points. Meanwhile search parties should be sent out to find EP, Boeser and DeBrusk. Heinen and Sasson lead the forwards in +/-. This team had a real nice run last year but it's clear now that was a one-off. This team needs a shake up. Trade as many as possible and be sure to have enough cap space to keep Quinn when the times comes.
There's something i don't understand (and will freely admit i'm not that well gen'd up in hockey business), but if Miller has a full NMC, then when the supposed trade talks happened on the weekend, and Rick said they haven't asked him to waive his NM then why would they go down the road of building a trade only if Miller would say no at the end ? Wouldn't you ask him to waive as a first step on the proviso that if a deal with an agreed upon team was met ? Then the rest is a formality ? Why wait until the end of the negotiation to ask him to waive .... he could say no before you've finished asking. And, since they whole "6 weeks" comment was apparently brought to light, wasn't it about then that Miller came back from his absence and when that happened Rutherford (Allvin's boss) said they support him and are NOT trading him ? On top of that Allvin called Petterson out about needing to be more mature etc. Seems very contradictory to me. In the interim Miller has more points than Petterson who continues to be invisible more often than not so trade Miller who has a NMC where Petey doesn't ? Hmmm.
I think it will be hard to ever get what JT is worth. Other teams smell blood but Allvin constantly refers to Miller as their #1 Centre and won’t move him. Allvin knows you don’t find guys like miller every day, sure he’ll listen to offers like he stated because he has to, but I doubt anyone will ever actually convince Allvin unless the offer is ridiculously good. Which I just don’t see happening. Not to mention JT has a full Nmc and holds all the marbles.
contracts should be structured based on performance. Have a base salary and you can make 10-11 M if you're a 100 point player. If not, you won't but to pay regardless is stupid..
The management is starting to show signs of late stage Benning. If they keep that softball swede over Miller it might just go down as the worst decision in franchise history and it wont even be close.

We all want to sit here and lazily blame the media but what if it comes down to JT just wants a change? We don't know, and reports are he hasn't "formally" asked for a trade but let's be honest - it takes two to tango and if the team is seriously considering moving him, it's not because they are bored - it's because there are reasons to that are obviously internal. To say JT is obviously unhappy in an understatement, and to think he's only disgruntled because the media asks him questions like they do every other player is a lazy narrative.
