    Eliotte did you watch the whole thing between McDavid vs Garland? Both of them deserved penalties before the crosscheck, McDavid was not innocent in that.

      probobaly missed in all this is Bouchard holding Pettersson along the boards after the puck had already left the zone.

      Totally correct. McDavid started the mess with a heavy check on Garland, knocking him down and landing on top of him, then held him down. McDavid’s a big guy, Garland is a small player, 5’ 8”. McDavid is 6’ 1”. Huge difference. Garland tries to slow McDavid down buy awkwardly holding him with his legs, but McDavid gets up, punches Garland in the back of the head and cross checks him in the face for good measure. McDavid gets away with a LOT of sh*t and doesn’t get called. He should gets 5 games for this, Garland shouldn’t get anything, this was 100% McDavid’s mess. This is a guy that SUED his local minor hockey association to get what he wanted. He wants what he wants. He snaps a lot and is never held accountable.

      @@lesbutler273I'm an oilers fan and you can clearly see he did a "chicken wing". He ever so slightly popped out that elbow.
      Also remember everything is slowed down in slo Mo to show us what happened. That elbow happened in 0.3 seconds in actual play. So mcdavid saying he didn't mean to do it is also justified.
      If ppl say mcdavid knew what he was doing then you are admitting that mcdavid can go slow motion!
      Just kidding lol! I think his 3 games was because of that elbow. I'm glad nobody was hurt, if garland was hurt than it would've been 5 games. Bouchard has an iron jaw though because I thought he should've lost some teeth!

    What happened to the onus is on the player? Who cares what Mccrybaby was thinking. This is multiple games in which he's doing things to injure players. If it was anybody else he would have been suspended awhile ago. Look at Rempe. The narrative a few weeks ago was "I don't think he intended to hurt anybody but the onus is on him so the long suspension is justified."

    • @ohyeah1915
      @ohyeah1915 12 дней назад +2

      Players try to run n injure him every game. It goes both ways. If they called the proper penalties then players wouldn't do these things

      @xxstrifexx3592 12 дней назад +1

      @ohyeah1915 i agree with you there. I'm not even saying he shouldn't get angry and fight back. Just don't be hypocritical about it just because he's a star. Any time this happens with other players Elliot spouts off about how he gets it but the onus is on the player to maintain control of themselves or face the punishment. That's not the conversation they were having today though.

  • @Viridel648

    A penalty in the last two minutes of regulation should give the team the choice of taking a penalty shot, since not only are they not getting the full penalty time, but it would also stop the tactical penalties scenario. This would include a situation like this where a team may maintain possession through the closing buzzer, but still have an infraction to collect from the opponent

    I don't understand what the Oilers would have done had there been a delayed penalty has to do with the incident between Garland and McDavid. Might be something coaches talk about and for which they develop a strategy, maybe. Outside of that the referees have to do their job. They, the referees, need to enforce the rules not 'manage' the game. I love the clip where the referee yells at Parayko to move the puck and, he says' "I can do what I want."

  • @sciWraith
    @sciWraith 12 дней назад +2

    With reference to the refs not calling a penalty, I completely disagree with any conditionals. The refs should have had their arms in the air, period. Leave it to the players to decide whether or not they want to keep the puck or have the penalty called. It should not be a factor at all in the refs decision to raise their arm.
    The Mcdavid situation is interesting.
    1) let it be said that he definitely needs to be suspended (imo 2+ games). It is not ok to do that to any other player, no matter who you are or the context.
    2) He is a star, and the league can't have stars molested on the ice like this at any point of the game. Nobody buys tickets to watch a wrestling match. They want to see stars doing star things. Players like Garner who think they can do this to star players need to be fined by the league. It needs to go beyond the officials to mandate this. You want to act like a goon? You make the league look bad and you ruin the stars, so pay the penalty.

    The excuse for the refs that McDavid is too good and they can’t call everything is really a garbage excuse and a pass for them not doing their jobs. For every 10 infractions, 1 might get called. This is what the problem is and what really caused this. I’m not saying everything should be called and is sometimes missed but too much is ignored simply because of who he is. Hockey players are smart enough to learn how to control players without taking penalties but what’s the point when you can get away with it 90% of time against the best players. This isn’t just about McDavid, it’s about all star players that the NHL refuses to protect even though they are supposed to be the face of the new NHL. How do you explain to new fans what is and what isn’t a penalty when the inconsistency among officiating is so rampant?

    Why don’t you guys trash talk the appalling officiating leading to McDavid’s self defence cross check. Bad officiating and gambling go together like ham & cheese. You should address that or at least point out the refs should never officiate in the NHL ever again.

  • @jn9604
    @jn9604 12 дней назад

    The league and the refs are responsible for this cross check. It's that simple. If they enforce the rules of the game this would not happen as often as it does. McDavid got mugged and the refs just watched it. What a joke and this happens all the time so the player has to take matter inot their won hands. Mc David did that and oters may think twice before mugging him like that again. I applaud him for it. The league is a joke. They say they focus on player protection and then they don't enforce the rules and this happens and then the players is blamed when it is the fault of the league. Bettman, in my opinion has systematically ruined hockey from a fan perspective. I only watch playoff hockey now, the rest is fugure skating.

    The JT Miller - Elias Pettersson conflict is really masking a bigger problem, imo. That is American-born players reach a point where they can no longer bear to play in a small-market Canadian team. They under-play their potential, they hold leverage over management because they usually have no-move or no-trade limitations, and they make it public that they want out. Trouba and Tzachuk are recent examples. Fox fits this also, except he had no leverage. Now JT Miller. Will small-market teams in Canada adjust their drafting models to avoid Americans? They should.

      Wow, those are some strong rose coloured glasses you are wearing! Until the crosscheck, McDavid didn't do anything to cause a penalty. If you actually watch the clip and know simple body dynamics show that as Garland started to fall, his right arm wrapped around McDavid's left arm. He pulled McDavid down, he then rolled to lock McDavid's arm underneath him. McDavid was clearly trying to get up. Then McDavid got free and Garland straight up MMA takedown on McDavid. Then the stupid action by McDavid. I agree with the call for McDavid and he should be suspended. Enjoy those thick rose glasses 😂
