You're exactly right about baking being therapeutic, when i was in a clinic being treated for depression we did baking for Occupational therapy and the highlight of my week was sharing the results of my efforts with the other patients and my visitors.
Hi Gabby love you guys just a bit of advice my mum had a home bakery as we were growing up thankfully the tins were new and non stick but what my mum used to do was grease the tins and when taken out of the oven turned them upside down on a wire rack and let them cool great job though for first time youx look the image of my bestie and Tim is the image of my brother im sure it tasted yummy ✨☘️
You did a great job, Gabby! 💯 When I was growing up back in the 70’s & 80’s, my mother ran her own wedding cake business… she made the cakes from scratch and decorated them by hand. The stress and labor involved was incredible… her hands suffer from arthritis to this day from the decorating them with the icing bags & creating the icing flowers. Not to mention the logistics involved with transporting multi-layer cakes to the wedding venues and assembling and setting them up. My mom was raising three little girls while doing all that (!!) and I distinctly remember, there were a couple of bridezillas who were taking their lives into their own hands by trying to give my my mother a hard time. 😂
I musr say, although it usually seems to cost less to order a cake made by someone else, professionally, but that anonymity takes away the love of enjoying a cake made by a relative, so great choice to make it yourself, i must say i bet all your family enjoyed your cake all the more cos of the love and time u put into it.

Gaby I have to be honest but when you mentioned you were baking a cake for Holly’s birthday on the coffee morning I was thinking to myself “Oh No this ain’t going to end well” but you know what Gaby I am genuinely impressed and really proud of you for actually baking a cake with it looking so good and delicious. I agree them unique personalised cake toppers definitely set the cake off! Never seen anything like it before, my favourite is the Carkey which even had Ford on, detailing and branding was on point. I love baking cake or decorating cakes I'm going to make a cake for my son's birthday party for Feb 15th half term holidays. He is having a party on the 17th of Feb. It is a double celebration for my hubby and my son. I've organised a Hot wheels birthday party for my son for then. In the evening I'm go to have a quiet celebration with hubby.

I think they say not to eat batter just to cover their backs and because in some countries the eggs aren’t pasteurised. As long as not pregnant or immunocompromised it’ll be ok
The real lazy way of melting the butter, is chucking it in the microwave. Just do it in little bursts of 20 seconds or so, as when it starts to melt it'll go to being fully liquid really quickly.
