Wow what hard work I take my hat off to this family I have experience in leisure and catering and know how hard it can be what a fantastic job they are making of what is essentially a traditional British seaside heritage well done 👍
Great seeing all the behind the scenes stuff with your guide Victoria. So nice to see the enthusiasm of the family wanting to restore it. Storm and fire tend to be the enemies of many lost piers in the country.
What this family do enhances the seaside family experience, Tim. I fully appreciate the good work these guys do (Including drilling into pineapples 😅 ) I shall be paying a visit when I head to East Anglia in a few days time. 👍
I live in Lowestoft, and we're constantly being described as an "up and coming town", and none of us see it. But theres thingS like this that really makes you believe it could happen. Great work guys, keep up the great work!
I moved to lowestoft in 97 and I’d say it’s 'come up’ a fair bit since then. The whole area of Horn hill was a right dive, derelict buildings, the glue pot etc. London road south even though it’s still a bit of an eyesore isn’t half as bad as it used to be and many of the old boarded up buildings/squats have been turned into flats. The ongoing work around the harbour (new wall/fencing) looks like when it’s completed will be a lot more pleasing on the eye than the old grey industrial 8ft fence that surrounded it before. The new beach huts may not be to everyones taste but personally I think they look great. With the gull wing bridge nearing completion and the other future plans with the train station, Royal green and the old Wilkinsons car park I think the future of Lowestoft is looking fairly bright. The Claremont has been crying out for years for someone to pick it up and run with it as it has history and potential so it’s great to finally see a family with so much enthusiasm doing exactly that.
As a Lowestoft resident I’ve been really impressed with how they have improved the pier, looking forward to seeing their plans for the future come to fruition and wish them all the best with it
Incredible video..I live 15 mins walk away and never realised, looking from the outside, just how big it is inside. It's like the Tardis..Big thanks to the Mayne family for injecting some well needed excitement of recovery into Lowestoft that has suffered much recently and hope all your future plans pan out, for yourselves and the Town.👍
Hi Tim. It was really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes in Lowerstoft pier. I hope they are successful in restoring it back to its heyday.
Well done tim great to see a local business embracing a bit of promotion puts a face to the company hopefully others will be knocking your door down for a chance to walk with Tim
The amount of money the family must have invested in buying and renovating a great British seaside tradition is to be applauded. What about the National lottery funding helping them restore the rest of the pier ? Great video Tim and a bit different, very enjoyable. 👍
Five donuts for £3.50? Not bad for a bag of seaside donuts. I've seen them a whole lot more expensive in other resorts. I'll have ten. I lived in Lowestoft for a while and it was dire. It is people like this who will be instrumental in bringing it back to life. This is a classic case of investment for the good of a town and I wonder how much a grant the council donated. How ever much it was, it was not enough. There is no short term gain to be had in taking on something like this and it will take many many years before the benefits will be realised. Kudos to the family.
You have the most satisfying RUclips channel ever. Can watch your content all day. Keep it up mate. Love your hotel trips and night stay reviews the most!
What a great video. I visisited lots of the piers up that part of the coast a few months ago (thanks to this channel) and Claremont was by far my favourite. The arcade was really good and the doughnuts were extremely tasty! It's lovely to see a family owned business making such an impact. Have to agree as well, the beach is awesome, lovely to walk on and feels like it could be in Florida or somewhere. All the little shops on London Road and the Kensington Gardens just make it a nice place to spend time in general. Hopefully they manage to fund the restoration of the rest of the pier and I look forward to visiting again at some point after watching this behind the scenes video.
wow i live in the town and haven’t been there in so long, this video has made me want to go back and take the kids in there for the day. fair play to the family for really investing in the place looks fantastic . great video Tim. really looks amazing 👌🏽
Hi Tim, I for one like many other's, do appreciate all the work going into the pair, as I've said before they are a lovely family, wish they did own the beach we would have a lot more 😊 keep up with the Brilliant work 👍 🙏
Brilliant vlog today Tim thank you! What a fantastic family and Lowestoft should be very proud of them for bringing the pier back to life. I shall certainly visit when we're next in the area.
Another brilliant vlog Tim 👍🏻,I hold my hat off to this family’s ambition to keep and restore part of the town’s history, the difference they’ve already made to the look already is brilliant 👍🏻another on my must visit list
I live and was born in Lowestoft, in all my 48 years this is the best thing I've seen happen to the pier, it was at risk of being demolished I believe ( the actual pier itself) but this family have gave it the best shot it has I wish them every success and will be supporting them. Another great video Tim 😊👍
Wow, thanks for bringing us a great story, Tim. It's brilliant when a plan comes together, and for a family to buy a bit of British history to "keep it in the family" as such. I wish them all the best and hope they make a great go of it!
Tim, the east coast there is my second home. Lowestoft has been unfortunate in recent years…… it’s good to see someone taking a lead and doing something positive. Well done to this family. Hopefully others can follow they’re example and make it a really nice place not just for tourists but also the locals.
I wasn’t sure I would find this vid particularly interesting but what a delightful upload. So pleased to see a family investing in a seaside community such as this. I love that sports bar 🏏
English Heritage and the National Lottery should be helping with this, although EH aren't interested in anything until it falls down AND then stop you from developing a condemned site. Hats off to this family for taking on the pier, and wanting to save the end part.
Very good and well deserved, I know the family and they all work so hard. I have full confidence that they will restore the pier and make it better than it was.
Although I'm always going to Hopton, I've never actually been to Lowestoft sea front. I think I may have to now as I love the look of that bar and the pina colada in the pineapple.. I'll have it as a mocktail too for now as I can't drink atm 😂😂
What a brilliant video Tim! The familly that own the pier have done an amazing job, and I wish them every success. They all seem like thoroughly decent people too.
Love they are trying to preserve history, they need a tv programme like the Llandudno pier one on ITV, great video Tim . Love the channel mate keep it up
Well done to the family, Wish them all the best, Over 20 years ago i drove a cherry picker under the pier at Ramsey in the IOM at a low spring tide for a survey to be carried out, and its only been in the last few years that things have started to move along,
What a different video Tim liked it a lot and the fact that it's a family run pier and it was nice of them to let you go around it and behind the scenes it was a big pier hope the people of lowestoft appreciate all the family hard work
Doing amazing job for the town and bringing it alive again 👍 what would be a nice 👍 idea on the pier plaques people buy them like southwold lovely idea
Fantastic video Tim and great to see what this family are doing to keep the pier going. Would be brilliant to see it fully restored. They all seemed so happy and enthusiastic.
I live in Bavaria, Germany, but I was born in Lowestoft and lived there until I was 20 yesrs old. I loved this video and am really pleased to see that the Claremont Pier is now a great attraction in the south of Lowestoft. What an improvement! Well done to the family who have taken on such a venture. Good luck for the future. Thank you, Tim, for all your videos - I always enjoy watching them.
I often visit Lowestoft and have found only one thing I don't like is that when that bridge goes up the whole place shuts down, apart from that I think it's a wonderful place and the Pier looks worth a visit.
I have so many happy memories of Lowestoft. We holidayed here every year in the late 90s and early noughties with our children and loved every minute. It is really nice to see what this lovely family has done with the pier and I wish them all the best with their future plans. This video was so interesting, thanks Tim😊
As always a great video Tim, loved seeing behind the scenes and the family are doing a fantastic job and investing. Fingers crossed they get their funding to complete the pier repairs, as that would be amazing.
Wish them all the success in reviving the pier! This is so great to see them building something that will bring so much pleasure to so many people when it's all finished.
What a wonderful pier !! It is so unique and has many things to offer. It covers a big extent. It looks very spacious and has several departments ! It blends with the colour of the sandy beach and displays a high sense of health and hygiene.Being situated on the sea beach,it looks most explicit ! Besides, the family members are just too jolly and active and work unitedly towards a common goal ! Their work passes away with a smile and friendly gestures. They set a good example of a perfect family for others to follow ! How wonderful ! Thanks for sharing !! ❤️❤️❤️
I’m super impressed with all the work this family have done. I hope it goes well for them which I’m sure it will. I have used Piranha Joes and The Terrace several times. Really enjoy a nice pint of Madri, so glad I live close.
This was great. I’m so nosy and love looking around properties and just opening doors randomly like you do. Seeing all the facilities and what they have managed to do here is amazing. I can’t believe they managed to fit a nightclub in there too. If it is possible do more of these Tim.
Wow, the family have done a great job on that pier - amazing how much stuff they have packed into the front. I wish them the best of luck with restoring the rest of the pier - I assume the basic superstructure is sound?
I am lucky to be able to come to Yarmouth twice a year on holiday, but I don't go to Lowestoft very often, I should go back there for a visit, had some lovely seafood from just outside the pier a few years ago, I wonder if the seafood bar is still there 🤔
Wow thank you Tim for showing the pier, what a great family I hope they get the money for the restoration work, maybe they could apply for a lottery grant , but good luck to them xx
Wow what a brilliant family & I hope the business goes from strength to strength 🤗👍
It's awesome down there from Alan in Lowestoft buddy 👍 😊😊
Wow what hard work I take my hat off to this family I have experience in leisure and catering and know how hard it can be what a fantastic job they are making of what is essentially a traditional British seaside heritage well done 👍
