What is the Holy Spirit saying to you right now?
Let’s pray…
Dear God, You are a creative God. Teach us God to hear Your voice over it all. Today, open our eyes and ears to You. How do you talk to us? What do you want us to know right here right now? Block our ears from what is not from you. Help us hear You in all the moments. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Let’s pause to listen. ♡
God changes hearts, minds and directions. He doesn’t speak to just be heard. He speaks to be obeyed. He knows best. Therefore, we first must be listening and paying attention. Delayed obedience is still disobedience so let’s learn His voice. He finds a unique and beautiful way to speak to us all. Growing up, I didn’t always discern between His voice and the loudness around, mainly because I faltered into people pleasing and did not read the Bible firsthand to learn who God was. Learn His word. Learn His voice.
Here are just some ways we can hear Him:
♡ Biblically - Through reading the Bible, we learn how to discern between right and wrong, truth and lies. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬)
♡ Corporately - Have you ever walked into a church or room and felt God’s presence in almost a tangible way, maybe through worship or prayer? His presence can be felt often and heard where many come in His name. “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭20‬)
♡ Individually - Have you ever felt stuck or like you can’t hear God?
Confess that honestly with God. God, help me hear you. He will answer. Answers don’t always come how we expect or want, but they come. When they don’t come, reflect back to what He already said.
Four ways He speaks is through knowing (gut), seeing (through visions, dreams, images), hearing & feeling. (Yes, the feeling has to be distinguished from our own feelings.)
Seek God. He knows us better than we know ourselves.♡
Let’s pray to hear and know His voice. He is a faithful Father.
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.” (John‬ ‭10‬:‭14‬)
