One year, it’s a shame. I am interested in lighters(because why not) and this seemed to be a promising channel

Old Cartier flints rot and crumble inside the tube. Bought at leas half a dozen lighters on the cheap side from ebay because ppl didn't care to try and investigate the problem.

Oh, and zippo flints work just fine, if you still need that info.

All flints do this depending on storage. There isn’t anything special or different for certain brands especially when they don’t manufacture them. There are hard and soft. And size. 99% of lighters on eBay are as is and all need to be serviced. The disclaimer is to avoid bad reviews because customers are unfair and have unreasonable expectations on items they are unfamiliar with. There’s no money to be made to spend time diagnosing a lighter and its rare someone even knows how to service them. I do because I love these vintage items. They last forever and are unique in that they will never be made in this quality again. Unless it’s the top 3 and you have a couple thousand dollars :)

@@rafaeltorre1643there isn’t money to be made diagnosing a lighter? Lol. I beg to differ. At least on the cartiers, it could be a 50-100 dollar difference.

I absolutely love Cartier love lighters. THE DESIGN IS SO TIMELESS

use Happich metal polish,Simichrome, or Flitz, not brasso, as these as all far less dangerous to finishes... For grease on the spring WD40 will work but watch grease or white lithium grease is far better as you can add it directly to spring and it will remain and lubricate

No one wants a Cartier in 360 pixels. But thumbs up for the effort.

You can reduce the flame by turning the valve on the tank in for lower and out for higher. Less than 1/4 turn

Try Flitz polish. It is amazing and it doesn't remove any (the tiniest amount) material.

I use simple minty toothplate on my all silver plated. It takes a little more time but the result is much better than brasso.

using most of the toothbrushes on silver is harmful. You shoud do just chemical reaction and then stabilize and ultra sonic first

    • @joseorellana5792

I agree with you. It's silver plated over brass. Why not simply give it a bath in silver cleaner solution? Duh. WD-40 is not ideal. Avoid Brasso. Soap and water are good inside and out after treatment. Brass does not need lubrication.

There is a wipe on silver plating solution that works awesome . Just clean the surface and and wipe it on . If you find silver plated pennies out there that was me and no it's not a special penny you found just some a hole plating pennies .
