    What about the big hole you drilled into the intale pipe......IF you want to take it to the dealer and have it back to stock? You'll need another factory intake pipe. You guys could include one to use with the hole already drilled in different colors. What I'll probably do is buy used or another new intake pipe to drill the hole in and set my factory pipe aside in storage.

    Stupid question (I’m sure you saw this coming), what problem are we solving here and how does it materially enhance performance?

    • @mainiero50
      @mainiero50 3 года назад +1

      What we are solving is the oil ingestion issue with ALL the EcoBoost engines. All Ecoboost engines suck a lot of oil through the PCV system and this results in detonation by reducing the octane rating of your fuel. It does not matter if it's just a daily driver or a tuned higher horsepower application. When you install a properly functioning UPR Catch Can system you can be sure you will get the best oil separation/control. On average you will see at least a 1mpg improvement and a much crisper throttle response. Also, your spark plugs will last almost 50% longer by eliminating oil in the combustion chambers.
      We see many Catch can systems that they offer for all the vehicles and they tend to let at least 40% of the oil that passes through the catch can escape and still get into the combustion chambers. This is just a very simple and basic explanation of what controlling oil from entering the combustion chamber does. Thank you for asking, UPR

    • @nysteelhorse
      @nysteelhorse 3 года назад +5

      The oil accumulating in the can would have been lost anyway, either burned or coating various lines and components. It is not dripping back into your crankcase. The idea is not to have that contaminated oil vapor fouling your intake charge, but be separated from the air and dumped into the can. Oil is to cool and lube, not burn.

    Hello, thanks for the video. With the 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboost engine in the Ford f150 having port and direct injectors, doesn't the 3.0 in this explorer ST or the 2.3 4 cylinder ecoboost have the same port and direct injection? Thanks in advance for your response

    • @rodburnette4629
      @rodburnette4629 3 года назад +1

      No. For some reason Ford hasn't done this with the 3.0 and 2.3. Have no idea why. It is a shame that you buy a brand new automobile and have to immediately spend couple hundred bucks to make it more reliable. Most automakers are now going GDI but very few are doing the port and direct to compensate for the problems. Sad.

    • @uprproducts
      @uprproducts  3 года назад +1

      @@rodburnette4629 There is no fix with any manufacturer as they all use the PCV system vacuum to suck out all the positive pressure in the crankcase to improve MPG and Ring Seal. So effectively they are creating the problem by using the open PCV system to improve the vehicle performance and it has to be done to allow somewhere for the blow-by to be released. We see this on all the brand new 2021 vehicles and the only solution to eliminate the oil from entering the cylinders and reducing performance is to run a catch can or buy an electric car. We run catch cans on all our vehicles and the minimal improvement is about 1mpg and extended plug life and a much crisper throttle all the time. The key to our catch cans is the complexity for oil control and not just a simple in and out with a generic filter, which allows oil to be sucked through the ineffective catch cans. Joe@UPR

    I really don't understand the purpose of the final hose you installed. Which direction is the air flowing? And when is it active? During idle or boost?

    • @stevebussius7887
      @stevebussius7887 4 года назад +1

      The final hose on the driver side is going to the Clean Side Separator. It normally has make-up air flowing into the crank case during idle and light throttle ( not in boost )driving. When under boost, if the crankcase pressure starts to push any oil out of the driver side PCV port, the separator will catch it and prevent it from entering the turbo inlet tube / intercooler/ intake tract. When the engine returns to normal driving, the air will resume moving into the valve cover which will pull the oil mist back in.
      The other hose you may be referring to is the WOT hose. The Wide Open Throttle hose allows the UPR catch can to continue moving air through the catch can even when under BOOST. When the intake manifold is seeing boost (positive intake manifold pressure) the check valve in the vacuum hose will close to prevent boost leak, and pressurizing the catch can. The high velocity air in the turbo inlet tube will then cause the check valve in the WOT hose to open, which in turn will continue air moving through the catch can. Other 2 hose or single - valve catch cans will not do this.

    • @Chris_ST0224
      @Chris_ST0224 4 года назад +2

      @@stevebussius7887 What's the Part number for this final hose? I can't find it anywhere, on the website.. Also, the part the HOSE plugs into? I have a 2020 Explorer ST. I will also state, that the moment you get to the website, there are like 20 options you can add, making the Catch Can, over 700$... HOLY SHIT - and also, the options, don't really explain what they are. In this video, how many add ons, are on the catch can kit? This information would be super helpful.

    • @stevebussius7887
      @stevebussius7887 4 года назад +1

      @@Chris_ST0224 The hose is the factory hose on the truck. If you see, the fitting is released, rotated 90 degrees, and installed onto the clean side separator. This hose is not sold through UPR.
      On the UPRproducts.com listing, there are 6 drop down menus. One, you select the finish on the catch can, Satin Silver or Black. Then select if you would like spare or replacement O rings for the catch can. Next is drain options: Yes or no to a magnetic drain plug which would be installed into the catch can cup, and yes or no to the drain line kit which would include hose and fittings to add a remote drain valve. Selecting neither gets you the standard drain plug. The Billet Hi FLo Adjustable PCV valve is an option to help you 'tune' your catch can. The included restrictors allows the user to open the PCV for more crankcase airflow, or restrict it if there is too much oil being pushed out of it. Last option is the Billet Pro Series check valves which are a larger, higher flowing check valve than the standard check valves in the kit.
      So, 6 options. This way we can give the true enthusiasts everything they may want in the very best catch can kit on the market!

    Hi! Great Product. Do you still know if that problem is also with the Explorer 2021 PHEV 3.0 Ecoboost? I still can‘t find any information about this issue.

    • @uprproducts
      @uprproducts  3 года назад +1

      The Oil Consumption/Ingestion through the PCV system has not been corrected and Ford will not add a catch can as they require maintenance and add to the bottom line and they don't mind losing a bit of performance and mpg by letting the oil get sucked through the PCV system as the vacuum benefit outweighs the oil ingestion in their eyes. Honestly, you should stop as much oil as possible and that is why we developed such a complex oil separator/catch can system. There is always oil in the clean line from the PCV valve to the intake manifold and you cannot stop or control it unless you install a properly designed and functioning catch can system that is not a tiny catch can and actually has the required volume to handle the airflow being drawn through it. Hope this helps. UPR

    What’s the advantage of this catch can over the JLT can?

    • @mainiero50
      @mainiero50 4 года назад +4

      The disadvantage of the JLT is the small single strainer pull through catch can design and will only catch a small percentage of the oil that gets ingested - sucked through the PCV system. Small catch cans that do not have any real diffuser system and both the in and out ports of the PCV are literally side by side and this design still allow your intake to ingest - suck a nice coating of oil into it. The oil that goes right through the side by side port design and still makes it's way into the combustion chamber will cause a lack of power and fuel economy combined with occasional detonation.
      UPR Patented Plug n Play Catch Can System's internal diffuser consists of multiple chambers and stages to oil the oil to properly coalesce and drop out of suspension from mist-vapor it travels as through the PCV system. You can look at the internal drawings of our patented design and see what makes a true air oil separator - catch can looks like internally and where the cost difference is in the components used to develop a system that will control the oil the gets ingested-sucked through your PCV system. Just search google patents for US9260993B1 which is a Utility patent and is for the functionality and performance that it protects.
      The UPR Patented Plug n Play Catch Can System has a range of coalescing filters and sized orifices to cause turbulence that allows the oil to separate and coalesce at each stage.
      We have many customers that remove their JLT catch cans and install the UPR Patented Plug n Play Catch Can System's to be able to run the best timing and fuel trims without having to worry about detonation. Remember MOST importantly any oil that gets ingested through the small 2 chamber design catch cans will always reduce performance and mpg along with overall longevity.
      A UPR Patented Plug n Play Catch Can System multi-chamber multi-stage coalescing internal diffuser system is made to force the oil to coalesce as it passes through the patented internal diffuser system. You can look at the patented design of the UPR Patented Plug n Play Catch Can System and see the difference in what a true air oil separator / catch can design looks like and where the cost difference is in the components used to develop a system that will control the oil the gets ingested through your PCV system. Just search google patents for US9260993B1 which is a Utility patent and is for the functionality and performance that it protects. www.UPRproducts.com

    What does it do?

    • @uprproducts
      @uprproducts  3 года назад

      In a simple explanation, it stops oil from being sucked through the PCV system into the combustion chamber and lowering the octane of the fuel. When oil enters the combustion chamber it will reduce the performance and efficiency of the fuel being burned in the combustion reducing cylinder pressure and mile per gallon and overall performance. The most important factor is the internal design and function of the catch can you install and UPR is the only multi-stage multi-chamber Utility patented design because the function is so effective.
