I have already made a few minor changes to this enclosure, such as adding more rocks and lifting the dock area to allow for more water. The filter gets too loud when the water level is low, so to combat that issue I just added more water and more rocks so the water level wouldn't be too high for Fu. I also added a hide on the right side of the enclosure over the water, and I swapped out one piece of the background that was propped against cork for a piece of cork. This is bound to happen as I am never truly satisfied with enclosures. But Fugaku has been LOVING it, and I have even been lucky enough to catch him out and about :) be sure to check out our Instagram to see any changes I may make to enclosures and to get a look at the shyboy Fu himself.
I’m very interested in hearing about your bio active experiences and how to even go about setting one up for beginners! I hope to one day keep my ball python bioactive but as of now I know very little.
I’ve learned a LOT so I can’t wait to jot it all down for a video
Great video! I LOVE your Bio-Actives. 🦎
Thanks :)
You did such an amazing job! What a lucky skink. 😍💕🌿✨
Thank you so much :)
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. I spoke to a good friend a month ago about obtaining some CB red eyes this year. Fingers crossed. Best of luck with yours.
My exo terra starting leaking 1-2wks after I had it up and running. It pisses me off so bad. People, water test your tanks! Leave em filled with water as long as you're able to before setting them up. I've talked to other people who have had leaks. It apparently happens all the time. They need to get their shit together. Spending a week or more building a bioactive tank only to have it leak is infuriating.
Great video,
I have 3 creeping charlie plants from Joshs frogs and Amazon ,i have them in my cave gecko, crestie and mourning gecko vivariums. great plant for ground cover.
Nice work! Love the bamboo!😍
Thanks :)
Very nice! What type of filter do you have running and how do you maintenance water area?
It’s a filter meant for turtles, though I’d never use it for one. I clean the filter monthly since it just collects dirt from the water. I change the water weekly.
Love your lips 💋 yes i own 3 pairs atm doing a breeding project
Hey even though i dont have crocodile skinks i have anoles and frogs i usually find that they come out more often when they have more coverage so they can hide anywhere at any moment!
The fab five in the background lol
YESSSS lol I left that in there for queer eye fans 👏🏻
Do you reccoment using a 4x2x2(48x24x24) as a enclosure?
Jess it looks AMAZING! you did such a great job! 💞💞
I love this so much 😍. Absolutely beautiful
Thank you :)
Wonderful enclosure!! I love it!,
Can I ask you at what temperature is the hottest area of the enclosure? Thanks! :)
not sure, I don't use this enclosure anymore! But red eyed crocodile skinks don't like warm temperatures, so keep that in mind.
Fugaku the wicked eye! Love it
people like you do great things for the reptile community by telling your experience with intense research and amazing habitats and husbandry(: such a great influence to pet owners!! you're awesome!
Oh my goodness thank you so much!!!
Can you put links to all the stuff you used pls love the setup ❤️
Everything came from Josh’s Frogs if I can remember correctly, this is not my current RECS build
Just came across this video but I worked on an exoterra paludarium for a good week. Had it all ready.... put the water in and the EXACT thing happened. Leaked..... filled around the base and dropped out everywhere.
I feel the pain...
not all animals need a food dish. turtles dont, snakes dont, fish dont, etc
Fair point
This looks great Jessica!
Thanks :)
Hello Jessica, how are you?😃. You have done an amazing job. Looks so peaceful for him. I would love to make a bio active for my Skittles. The crested gecko also known as my living Fingerling.
She couldn't wait to get out and have Mommy time this evening. She has become very clingy to me. Not complaining though.
I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve to show us in the future.
God bless you and yours, Lin 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐦🐢🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎💖🐧🤗
Off topic, but relevant to reptiles and ethical/moral questions: I know you don't keep snakes, but you do keep special needs reptiles, with many pets that have neurological issues. What are your thoughts on the drama going on about the debate with spider ball pythons? For the record, I am fully against breeding them.
Wish they had a longer lifespan
Same, but there seems to be some variation in what is “average” so I’m hoping for longer rather than shorter
What filter do you use for the water and would you recommend it? I have a similar set up to yours 🤗
It’s a submersible zoo med turtle filter though it’s far too small for turtle use
@@JessicasAnimalFriends Thank you 🤗
Just rub some cooking oil on that tape residue and plastic scrubby and it’s gone clean off oil with a bit a soap and water
I've been researching red eyed crocs since 2009.havent gotten one yet.
Are you using a filter or just a bubbler?
Filter!
@@JessicasAnimalFriends would a filter be better than just a bubbler?
Great work! Looks nice. Cant wait to get mine set up.
Nice set up Jess looks great. The sticky left from the tape just use spray bottle with water and a straight edge razor hold at an angle and scrape off this way no chemicals near your tank. Razor won’t scratch glass as long as you have on an angle it is easy. I learned this from my detailing and have used it on my tanks. Hey jess what about the cats 🐈. Take care you guys. John
Thanks! And I don’t have any cats, never have. Maybe you’re mistaking me for someone else?
be nice to see that set up matured...
I totally agree. Sorry, I built another one not long after this so I can’t share a matured set up.
@@JessicasAnimalFriends lol, I know what it's like. I'm just about happy with mine after 6 years and I'm only just getting moss to grow properly. Got an external fogger and my tribs love. The first day I had it all 4 of them were heaped up under the jet. 2:2... I know. This is exceptional, I've had 8 other hatchlings that were trouble . This little fella looks like the devil but he's sweet as anything and I think dad's just about mellowed so he's not so territorial. Such fascinating creatures.
Really cool setup, never thought you could put in a stream but it's super pretty. How do you cut the plexiglass? Since you have some small pieces
You can have Lowe’s cut it or you can score it with a blade and then break it on the seam
What an absolutely gorgeous enclosure!! You did an amazing job!! I love it omg ♥
Thanks so much :)
Update video soon? :) definitely interested as im wanting to get a croc skink soon.
Oh definitely! I’m actually building a new bioactive for Fugaku that’s larger, and that video will be up in a few weeks. Next year I’ll be making an in depth care guide :)
Hi, i'm sorry this is off topic. When this happened this morning you were the first channel I wanted to ask. I did post this elsewhere first in my worry and haste... and plan to post elsewhere as well only bc I'm very worried and want to know if this means my gecko had MBD. I googled but nothing came up about what happened.... okay, here's my question....
Hi, i'm posting my question here bc I don't know where to ask it...
So, my leopard ghecko had stopped pooping. At first I thought compaction so I gave her a warm bath and she immediately went. But the problem persisted. Her appetite lowered. I then found a forum (I can't remember which one or I'd post there) that said maybe she was stressed... which made sense since I'd relocated her the previous week to our living room where the is allot more activity and pets than her previous space. I moved her enclosure back to my sons far less active room. The problem remained but she did begin eating, a bit. It's been 2 weeks with no poos so I have her a warm bath. After 15 minutes she finally went. I put her back in her freshly cleaned enclosure then went to examine the poo. I know, gross, but I wanted to figure out what had compacted her. Using tweezers I found multiple bone fragments.... she eats meal worms and crickets daily wich I put in a reptile multivitamin once a week. Now im worried about MBD... there aren't any reptile vets nearby. Am I freaking for no reason? Do crickets and mealworms have bones? Thank you!
Please DM me on Instagram because I have never heard of bone fragments in poo. There’s also a ton of other questions I want to ask
@@JessicasAnimalFriends I will :) I apologize for not replying sooner. I have photos I can send as well. Thank you for replying :)
So cool looks great! Thumbs up!! 👍
Thanks :)
I wish exoterra made a couple of those where the water proof area below the doors was four or five inches taller so I could get them a deeper pool and deeper bio floor
If you buy a tall enclosure, the doors will be set higher!
I think bioactive enclosures are really cool because I like the idea of the cleaning crew, but then you have that fogger and it's SO COOL! Like what is this, a horror movie set?
You should see it now, it looks even cooler AND I’m building a new one in a couple months
@@JessicasAnimalFriends ooh that's exciting!
Wow, that setup is wonderful! 💕
Thanks :)
hey Jessica! love ur vids
Thanks :)
Sorry my mistake I apologize for the mix up. Won’t bother you again
You’re no bother at all!
