- In this video I compare, break down and rank all the following clipper guard systems: Wahl Plastic Guards, Wahl Premium Guards, Andis Purple Double Magnetic Guards, Speed-O-Guides & the Gamma & Caliber Single Magnetic Guards. I use a 3 point system for 5 different categories with 3 being good, 2 being average and 1 being low. Everything I state in this video is based off my personal opinion, I am not sponsored and my perspective may differ from yours. My first clipper was the fast feeds. So I used the Andis double mag guards for a long time. Switched over to the wahl premium's. Hard to say, I like both as they work well together. I'm going to say that the Andis purple guards the #2 open cuts the same as the wahl #2 closed guard or at least very close to it. Could be in my mind lol.. I PERSONALLY think the andis guards cut smoother, but again could be in my head.
I agree, I also think the Andis guards cut smoother even though they create a little more work for me. It might have to to with the way they feed the hair into the guard. Kind of a shame they changed their 0 guard though because it no longer has those grooves.
@@IvMacCuts I had the OG 0 guard. The longer teeth. Was great. However, did you see gamma coming out with their own version of the Andis guards? What you think of them? The wahl system is very easy to fade with though

Those red Wahl premium guards look so dope. I got the black standard ones, really happy with them. Think once they 'die' off, I'll get red ones
Thanks, they are the elevate brand but you can find almost any color online they just won't be Wahl's.
When the purple magnetic andis. Came out they were premium and I broke some ordered more like a year later and they were thin and cheap

I think andis dbl magnetic original purp guards were the best. They changed the 0 guard which sucks now but if you got the original its a wrap. Wahl makes great premium guards but the 1.5 is trash and although i like the .5 it leaves hair behind due to its short teeth so it forces you to go over areas more times because of how it was designed to blend the hair rather than cut it. I prefer guards that cut flush because ill blend the hair on my own i dont need a guard to try to do it because it just wastes time imo.
It makes me wonder if Andis will go back to their originally magnetic guards or even their original clip ons as it sound like most people prefer them over their current ones 🤔 you're right about wahl .5 too it definitely doesn't feed hair forcing more passes.
And your editing on point. I only have my iPhone to edit with. I make the best of it though.

hard to find the Wahl premium 0.5 and 1.5 guards on amazon Canada...
If you can find them from an off brand don't hesitate. There's honestly not much of a difference.

I’m not sure I understand your reasoning for criticizing the fluidity of the andis mag guards. The blade opens up to a 1 but how does that worsen the fluidity?
If the blade actually opened up to a 1 then that would mean the 0 guard would not be necessary which it is. But the 0 guard then eats up into the 1 guard because of the extra blade extension when being used at the open lever position. So the transition from the 0 guard closed, mid, open doesn't flow into the 1 guard closed, mid, open. Most people can work around that, myself included, but if you're coming from the wahl guard system you will have to relearn how to use your guards in conjunction with your lever.
@@IvMacCuts so in other words, andis’s 0 guard has more of an overlap into the 1 guard and the same with the 1.5 into the 2 guard?
Does the OSTER fastfeed blade open up to a 1 and give the same results using the ANDIS 0 and 1.5 guards??
@@presidentialluke9169 that's right, I personally don't mind it and I actually like it for detailing but that's just me. I also have found myself using the .5 purple guard and working it into the 1.5
@@presidentialluke9169 it doesn't open up as much as the Andis master and the blade is thinner so it's closer to a Wahl blade
Wahl premium #1 Andis double magnetic for #2. Both guards gave me cuts I couldn’t believe were even possible

@@IvMacCuts thing is I use a wahl blade on my babybliss for the battery going full speed until dead stop and I use andis master corded . Cordless or corded is just fine I just am a cheapskate so I got the corded but cuts very well . I also use really pointed shears to do detail blending with the tip of my shears to blend details one hair at a time
