Spanish food is generally good, but you gotta know the best places to eat certain dishes. Most of the restaurants are tourist-focused and don't really offer the best versions of the typical dishes (saying this as a native Spanish). And YES, we do drink the hot chocolate 😂

Andy🌻 I don’t think they were surprised in general that you do drink hot chocolate at all but they were surprised that you get so much chocolate with churos because I have been in Spanish food place in England and they give very little with churos. Basically not even enough to dip all the churos in. So maybe that’s why. That is why you have t go to the country where it’s made to get the real deal :)

Yes pasta paella (fideuá) is very common and famous in Spain too. We use short pasta, people like that kind of pasta they served you at the restaurant or thinner pasta like spaghetti but really short like 1-2cm long. Fideuá is usually eaten with allioli like we eat black rice with allioli usually too. I am from Barcelona so I am glad you all had a nice time here! Come back soon, anytime!☺️

I'm from Barcelona and Satan's Coffee Corner is one of my favourite cafés! I'm so excited you got to try that! Although, for the churros, in the place you sat to eat them, the next street has the oldest place in Barcelona to have chocolate con churros and it's the absolute best. And yes, it's hot chocolate, so we drink it. The "pasta paella" it's called fideuá because it's made with fideos (the specific type of pasta), and it's quite similar to paella. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's a catalan thing or a spanish thing... 🤔
I'm kinda sad because was outside of the country and I didn't realize you were in Barcelona... If you ever come again, I would love to recommend some places! ✨

its so hard to find good places to eat in such a touristy city, but you were so lucky! everything looked awesome. last time i went there was with my parents and me and my dad had seafood paella every day and we found the best one was in a place called vigo.

I would love to try all those cuisines asap. :))) In case you want to attempt a tasty food when you are at home right now due to lockdown, you can try and make "Chole Bhature" from India. I lived in Barcelona from January to June of this year as an exchange student. This is making me miss the food and culture sosososo much! Such a wonderful city with amazing cuisine. My absolute favourite things to eat were navajas, langoustines, and bacalao a la llauna. I really wanted to try Escriba but the lines and the wait always deterred me hahahaha. The next time you go, you should definitely try this amazing restaurant called "Ten's"! It's on Carrer del Rec in El Born, facing Estación de Francia. It's my family & I's go-to restaurant for tapas and after the past 5+ years of going to Barcelona, it's never failed us yet.
