I was so surprised that such a young guy would end a movie like Don Jon the way Joesph Gordon-Levitt did. How does a man as young as he is, make such a bold statement about sex?
It's something that has been discussed by young men of this generation a lot. It's a common theme since pornography has never played such a vast part as it does now, and there's different points of view on it. Good movie, made a great point
***** you said that because he is 32 ''he's not young by any means''. well, being 32 doesnt make him old. and as Kazikox said it is rare to see it in a young person because being wise requires experience, intelligence, curiosity, reflection, perception, selfreflection etc.
Kazikox where are you from? in my experience young men in my country mostly refuse to talk about it more than exchanging web sites etc.? by young men i mean men up to 26-7 years old. also in my experience men over 40 tend to have a very different point f view and take on the subject...
Just a heads up, we had some technical glitches with video/audio -- so I very much apologize. It was either post glitched footage or nothing at all -- hope you guys can still enjoy interview and forgive me for the glitches. Cheers -- Jake
WOW i love Jake's take on these interviews - it's such a refreshing spin from the generic questions interviewers usually ask. Some of the them even require an extra moment of thought from the actors... which makes the conversation a lot more enjoyable and interesting for them. Take notes, other-interviewers-out-there.
JGL is AWESOME. Seems like a really nice cool guy and his acting ability is way beyond I thought he would ever go. I am very impressed with his work. He is becoming one of my favorite actors lately. Once I heard about this movie and how he directed it and wrote it and stuff it is a must see for me.
This is a great interview for an actor and the movie. Besides trying to add in different questions as with most interviews are, Joe actually shared more opinions and philosophies about the expectations we create for ourselves in our minds just by using real life and tweaking the little factors we don't want so that it can match up to that fantasy. But in truth, messing with all those unwanted things that go on in our life is very tricky and are better off left alone with a lesson to learn from it. :) :D
12:07- "Life isn't simple. Life is really complicated. And while it's sometimes easy to compare our lives to these sort of simple stories, these fantasies that we enjoy on screen, that's what they are; they're fantasies. And they don't map onto real life. And if you compare your real life to those fantasies, you're gonna set yourself up for being disappointed. The truth is that real life is much richer than that." Wow, I learned something from a movie interview. Thanks, JGL.
I love how every interview ends with Jake getting up and leaving and the actors just keep sitting there. I always like to imagine they just sit there for the rest of the day in silence. I don't know why that's funny to me.
It's lucky Jake can talk so fast because he says a lot and gives a lot of material for the interviewee to respond too. You've got to be born with that gift.
Its because he interviews them at a junket, so the actor waits while a new interviewer comes in. They probably do around 20 different interviews for different sites n junk. Which is why its refreshing to see actors putting effort into his/her answers despite having to answer so many.
No, he starred in Looper. His old friend Rian Johnson (director of Brick, The Brothers Bloom) cast him in the lead role because of their experience working together on Brick.
This movie was awesome. It really pointed out the way men think about women and how women think about men. And how they both can learn lessons from thinking about the other person instead of themselves. And it was funny and shocking and warm and inviting and just plain interesting.
He directed Looper? Holy shit, that was the best action movie i've seen in a while. The way he talks, his ideas and morals...i respect him now even more.
I think JGL has got an edge up on the other two guys you mentioned...not because of his talent in the acting Department, but b/c he's a Renaissance Man -- he wrote, filmed, produced and Directed this Movie. and He's creating a TV show and Running the company that produces that too he's in League of his own next to macavoy and Norton, as far as Creative Outlets and overall productivity is concerned.
Nah, just because they're not hugely popular with teenagers doesn't mean they're underrated. All 3 of them are extremely talented, and definitely consider to be great actors within the industry and people that have some real knowledge about actors.
Two hot men in one room 😻 and jake you're awesome interviewer I hope you know that! You always come up with the most original questions and make the person feel comfortable.
He might always say he loved the movie but he can't exactly come out and say that he hated it while interviewing it's stars. And no he actually makes a Top 10 List every year. And Looper was on it. You can go watch his video on it. He doesn't say a movie is in his Top 10, if they aren't.
My god JGL you are so bloody right, objectification of people is actually such a huge issuuuuee never thoght about it that seriously so deeeeep I LOVE YOU MAN
I thought Julianne Moore's character was gonna be a therapist or some type of psychologist judging by the trailer. I never would've expected her to be his love interest because she's you know... 20 years older than JGL's character???!! She's beautiful but the casting directors couldn't find someone younger?
An interviewer who is asking intelligent and interesting questions? Am I in heaven?
This movie deserved so much more than a 6.8 but I feel it was so provocative and extreme it was a shock.
he took a risk, i thought overall it was great! The idea is awesome, but i guess everyone doesnt understand it. "Narrow-minded people"
I just want to hang out with him. He seems like the most awesome person to talk to.
I was so surprised that such a young guy would end a movie like Don Jon the way Joesph Gordon-Levitt did. How does a man as young as he is, make such a bold statement about sex?

***** hes not old either
***** That's kind of what the word implies. It's not intelligence, it's experience, which usually requires time
***** you said that because he is 32 ''he's not young by any means''. well, being 32 doesnt make him old. and as Kazikox said it is rare to see it in a young person because being wise requires experience, intelligence, curiosity, reflection, perception, selfreflection etc.

Josephs such a sweetheart
This was a great interview. I think a lot of people misconstrue 500 Days of Summer and Joseph Gordon-Levitt summed it up perfectly.
Just a heads up, we had some technical glitches with video/audio -- so I very much apologize. It was either post glitched footage or nothing at all -- hope you guys can still enjoy interview and forgive me for the glitches. Cheers -- Jake

A conversation between 2 intelligent people. If only more interviews were more like this.
JGL is AWESOME. Seems like a really nice cool guy and his acting ability is way beyond I thought he would ever go. I am very impressed with his work. He is becoming one of my favorite actors lately. Once I heard about this movie and how he directed it and wrote it and stuff it is a must see for me.

this is a great movie so much substance to it
"Joe, how do you feel about the slightly too long length of distance between us during this interview?"
What a great fucking interview!

Wow, I learned something from a movie interview. Thanks, JGL.
Seriously my favorite interviewer. He's so professional and his questions aren't repetitive. Its very refreshing.
Love this interview! Great answers from JGL and great questions as usual, Jake!
I can't wait to see this! Great interview, as usual, Mr. Hamilton. It was really distracting, though... two amazingly handsome men in one video. ;)
Can't wait for this movie, sweet interview as always!
Thanks, Jake! great interview once again
I am a major fan of Joseph gordon levitt, and the most mindblowing thing was that I did not know he was in Looper untill days after!
I love this guy. Great person, great actor who takes it seriously.
I love how every interview ends with Jake getting up and leaving and the actors just keep sitting there. I always like to imagine they just sit there for the rest of the day in silence. I don't know why that's funny to me.
Jake your interviews are always the best you ask the most creative questions
Great interview, Jake! Always very entertaining and enlightening to hear Joe talk about the industry.
Great interview, Jake! Loved the connection you made between (500) days of Summer and Don Jon.
This was a really great interview. One of my favorites.
You and Joseph seem to get along really well! Loved the interview......as per usual.
It's lucky Jake can talk so fast because he says a lot and gives a lot of material for the interviewee to respond too. You've got to be born with that gift.
Yay! I've been waiting for this.
Great interview! Love sucks all the time! Movies should show that.
Been waiting for this movie for like 8 months now, watched the trailer like a hundred times haha
Its because he interviews them at a junket, so the actor waits while a new interviewer comes in. They probably do around 20 different interviews for different sites n junk.
Which is why its refreshing to see actors putting effort into his/her answers despite having to answer so many.
Love your interviews dude, this one was awesome as usual
Nevermind the glitches! Awesome interview with an awesome actor! He is so humble and so inspiring! Great questions as always! Cheers from France!
I'm so glad he said that about his character from 500 days of summer. So true
one of your best interviews
Great interview as always
That was a looong interview, way to go Jake!
No, he starred in Looper. His old friend Rian Johnson (director of Brick, The Brothers Bloom) cast him in the lead role because of their experience working together on Brick.
Can't wait to see this!
This guy is amazing man and I'm glad that critics love it.
Amazing interview, Joe is so smart please interview him more!!
This movie was awesome. It really pointed out the way men think about women and how women think about men. And how they both can learn lessons from thinking about the other person instead of themselves. And it was funny and shocking and warm and inviting and just plain interesting.
Jake you are one of the best interviewer in the world.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt + Jake Hamilton = Great Interview
would never imagine jake to be the sort of character who says "cheers", given its not really a American thing, loved the interview
Refreshing and insightful interview!
I don't think any of these actors are underrated.. they're all great actors, all have done great things and have more to come.
Awesome Joseph & the movie!
JGL is one of my favourite people in Hollywood. I'm pretty excited for the film release too!
Brilliant interview!
He directed Looper? Holy shit, that was the best action movie i've seen in a while. The way he talks, his ideas and morals...i respect him now even more.
No one:
JGL:
This interviewer: 500 Days Of Summer
I think JGL has got an edge up on the other two guys you mentioned...not because of his talent in the acting Department,
but b/c he's a Renaissance Man

he wrote, filmed, produced and Directed this Movie.

He´s such a cool guy! Love him :))
Joseph is so smart! I hate it that people underestimate actors.
I love JGL! One of my favorite actors!
I love JGL so much, he is so perfect! And he's doing a reddit AMA soon! :)
Awesome interview!
simply a great interview
Great Interview! Great actor
great interview!!
until i see JGL on inside the actors studio, I will stick to this. I am happy how you interviewed him. You are cool.
Saw it last night, really enjoyed it. So much more than a "romantic comedy"
JGL is too awesome for the camera that tried to capture him in this video...he almost wasn't captured at all... :D
Great interview!
Nah, just because they're not hugely popular with teenagers doesn't mean they're underrated. All 3 of them are extremely talented, and definitely consider to be great actors within the industry and people that have some real knowledge about actors.
He's a genius in the making
Joey is reunited with Tony Danza which they both did "Angels in the Outfield" :)
haha I love how it look funny him walking off and joseph still sitting there
He is fucking awesome and badass ! Enjoy him
Everything that Joseph said their was great advice about life

I love that everyone you interview always says at one point: "That's a good question."

your audio is all fucked up, keeps switching from left to right
A whole interview with JGL? AWESOME!
Two hot men in one room 😻 and jake you're awesome interviewer I hope you know that! You always come up with the most original questions and make the person feel comfortable.

Jake should be a talk show host
My god JGL you are so bloody right, objectification of people is actually such a huge issuuuuee never thoght about it that seriously so deeeeep I LOVE YOU MAN
I love this man

Well I think the age difference is significant to her character.
I do love me some JGL. This movie looks so good!
nice interview. the video's audio is a bit off but still good stuff.
Great movie!!!

Just convert the audio to mono, would make this listenable
At the end of the vid, when he's driving and singing, then pulls up to those chicks and turns his head.. dear god man i fell down laughing.
It's oke. You still rocked this interview.
