What an incredibly normal dude. He's just an actor and understands how the game works since he's been in it since he was a kid. Crazy to see no ego and no eccentricity out of an actor being nostalgic of a career. Refreshing he came out of Hollywood with a career as a child actor and an adult actor without having any sort of that strangeness that his peers get.
It also seems that, unlike many child actors that may have been talented and enjoyed some aspects, his being an actor was likely his genuine choice. He speaks about his drive to act in dramas like someone who always was spurred on by genuine joy in his craft? Maybe not all the projects, but just HAVING a project to be proud of seems to have been his aim. You hear of a lot of child actors who may have started off loving it, but eventually want to stop and are almost pushed to continue by family/friends/agents/society in general. Instead of being allowed to say "yeah i think i'm done" (like i was allowed to do when i decided i didnt like soccer) these child actors are made to stay in a vedy high pressure lifestyle against what they would necessarily choose. Joseph (appears) to have chosen to stay on his career path the entire time.

It echoed a lot of what I wanted in my relationship with the girl I loved. It ended between us and I felt jaded like Joseph’s character. My takeaway is this... he LOVES what he does and that's all I need to know. Nothing in life matters beyond finding that fit... finding that groove where you get to be who you are and feel challenged. Wise dude... If I met him, I'd just say thank you. Thank you for the craft you share...
The most underrated Disney movie of all time STILL didn't get mentioned here by the actor who played the main character??? :( When are people going to start giving Treasure Planet the respect it deserves...? Either way, it's his interview and his career. Still love this guy!
You could absolutely tell how much fun the cast was having in "10 Things I Hate About You"! 😁 It's in my top 5 favorite comedies. Also really liked "50/50" so too bad that wasn't on here.
That Robert Redford moment is a slice of pure gold. The confidence it would have given him to hear a Hollywood legend like Redford say “I never hit my marks” - not to mention the conceited effort to keep it quiet, as if he was telling him a secret no one else knew. Wil Wheaton tells a story about William Shatner that’s the EXACT opposite - where Shatner was mean, short and just generally demeaning towards him (the first time the two met, when Wheaton was a child actor). It’s very telling to a persons strength of character in how they treat their subordinates (and indeed children). Redford was a class act. He helped change the actor’s role in Hollywood - absolute legend.
I love this man's honesty about his career. I'm so glad to see that he's had such a successful acting career. I'm always worried for child actors because the business can be so brutal to them.
Omg. Thats what it is. I couldn't place it but you're right. I always thought Tom reminded me of someone, and having grown up watching JGL on 3rd rock, thats what I was picking up!
I wish this video was longer and he got to talk about more of his movies. I honestly could listen to him talk for hours. He's just so honest and genuine and you can tell he loves what he does and that he is a fan of movies and film-making and doesn't just see it as a job.
So strange he was worried about them not financing 500 days because he and Zoe weren't big enough names! We watched that movie BECAUSE JGL was in it! He was already a big name to me after seeing him in third rock and Brick. Loved Brick! Loved seeing his career grow and grow. He's so underrated. Hesher is a personal fave! Can't believe that's not even mentioned here! He's incredible! Love his movies. They're always phenomenonal!
Apparently he needs to do a part two so he can talk about his movies he skipped according to the comments. I was only going to say i liked Premium Rush which the didn’t think would be good.
Hearing him talk about 10 Things explains a lot about why he so heavily dove into independent flicks during the early 2000s. Brick, Manic, and Mysterious Skin are among my all time fave flicks.
I had a massive crush on him after seeing Angels in the Outfield and I've been a fan of his ever since. All through 3rd Rock, his more indie films, HitRecord... he always entertains, drama-free and just seems like a cool person.
I have nothing but awe and respect for JGL. One of my favorite things he has done was "Inception". That hallway fight scene is just INSANE, when you think about it. But I can't imagine any other actor or stunt crew to do that sequence. Off-screen, he seems like a warm, genuine, down-to-earth man. Kudos to him and any future success he has.
Mysterious Skin, Brick, and Manic are the movies I think of when I think Joseph Gordon Levitt. He just was so good, and committed to the roles, and emotional. The absolute best.
I love all parts that JGD played, but never listened to his interviews. Just impress by how proud he is with his career! Not many will admit that, like how he took it so seriously, think of himself as above some of his choices, but still enjoy it all looking back. That feels refreshing real to hear.
I really loved what he said at the beginning about this being a positive spin and he could quite easily talk about all his fails instead. I think everyone can relate to that, not everything will go your way and that's ok.

I really wish this would’ve been longer. I could listen to him talk for hours in depth about his movies or just film and things in general. You can see how passionate he is when he talks about it.
Maybe be they can do a part 2 with him. 😉
Sara01977 I reallllly hope that there is!
Agree! If they ever make a part 2, he can literally talk about every single movie in his career like 50/50 and The Walk
He has a podcast!
I seriously hope that he’ll talk about Treasure Planet someday. Can’t even explain how much that movie meant for me and my childhood
First movie I saw
A HIT!!!!
@@BearagamoWoods I think so I actually would go a step further and say it's on my top 100 films ever
I watched this video hoping that he’ll talk about treasure planet.... ugh
My favorite Disney film, one f my favorites period. Disney really betrayed that film and everyone who worked on it.
I feel like sometimes he is an underrated actor. He’s awesome. Give this man an Oscar already!
When are people going to start giving Treasure Planet the respect it deserves...?
Either way, it's his interview and his career. Still love this guy!
....hE WAS IN TREASURE PLANET???? Dang, I thought i was a Joseph fan
Treasure Planet deserves more recognition
@@denny.moiras the main character yo!
Woaaah, he was????
It was Michael J Fox. But they sound similar
“I wasn’t allowed to call him Leo Now I am now I can... hahahaha” that part is hilarious 😆 what a great actor Joseph
You could absolutely tell how much fun the cast was having in "10 Things I Hate About You"! 😁 It's in my top 5 favorite comedies. Also really liked "50/50" so too bad that wasn't on here.
As somebody who has gone through cancer, that is my favorite JGL movie, and it's the most realistic cancer movie of all time.
500 days of summer would blow your mind
50/50 is great
he’s just... so pretty😫
Hello dear It’s me Joseph Gordon Levitt 🤞I would like if we can talk privately...
@@broadcastingjoseph.glevitt4641 LMAOOOOOO
Lmao 😅
I’m sad they skipped 50/50, that movie makes me laugh and reflect on life more than anything else
I’ve missed him so much! He was adorable in “10 Things I Hate About You” so I’m glad he went through with it.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is everything what is good in the world
That Robert Redford moment is a slice of pure gold.
The way his voice ever so subtly cracks when he says Heath 🥺😭💜
I love how animated he is, how genuine and passionate! He’s a very cool guy!
The way he looks and sounds when he mentions Heath Ledger in Dark Knight 🥺🥺
yeah i feel so bad for him. losing a friend is hard even years later
I started crying...!
I love this man's honesty about his career. I'm so glad to see that he's had such a successful acting career. I'm always worried for child actors because the business can be so brutal to them.
He gives me such ‘if Tom Hiddleston was American’ vibes
Well they're both Aquarius so...yes
Omg. Thats what it is. I couldn't place it but you're right. I always thought Tom reminded me of someone, and having grown up watching JGL on 3rd rock, thats what I was picking up!
Facts
@@donicaharris6163 doesnt mean anything
He looks like Paul Rudd in this video. Paul Rudd when he was on Friends
His interviews always make me feel like I'm just listening to a good friend tell stories... i genuinely love him so much ❤
one of the only break downs that i’ve watched fully. he’s so well spoken and humble. i love him even more now 🥰🥰🥰
I wish this video was longer and he got to talk about more of his movies. I honestly could listen to him talk for hours. He's just so honest and genuine and you can tell he loves what he does and that he is a fan of movies and film-making and doesn't just see it as a job.
Sad that they skipped over 50/50. It's one of my favorite movies of his.
Ssoooo underrated!
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a true artist. Big fan of his.
Probably my favorite actor ever. Such a down to earth and cool dude. Love everything I’ve seen him in and can’t wait to see him more
Have u seen his new movie Flora & Son?
Joseph Gordon-Levitt: I want to be **serious**
Me: So cute! 💖
Why do I feel like he broke into someone's flat, stole their clothes, and then filmed this
Cuz you ghey
That's his job
and prepared his look with a curling iron 🤣
Looks like an office, to me.
I don’t think he has that kinda energy
So strange he was worried about them not financing 500 days because he and Zoe weren't big enough names! We watched that movie BECAUSE JGL was in it! He was already a big name to me after seeing him in third rock and Brick. Loved Brick! Loved seeing his career grow and grow. He's so underrated. Hesher is a personal fave! Can't believe that's not even mentioned here! He's incredible! Love his movies. They're always phenomenonal!
I'll come back when the comment section has marinated
LOL me
He’s such a young dude with an old soul!
My spirit animal.
i love how genuine he is after all these years being in the spotlight. it’s so refreshing
Apparently he needs to do a part two so he can talk about his movies he skipped according to the comments. I was only going to say i liked Premium Rush which the didn’t think would be good.
I LOVED premium rush and there's not enough hype for it
I *DEMAND* a second part where he talks about *Mysterious Skin, Hesher and 50/50*
I second this petition. His 3 best roles easily.
@@dead_beatbunny Have you ever seen The Lookout? Great chance it will be up there, maybe even at the top.
@@kbuttstadt I have. I still think his top 3 are the above.
50/50!!!! yes!!!
I cant watch 50/50 and not cry no matter how many times I have seen it . Just the thought of his character passing , I couldn't handle it lol
Hearing him talk about 10 Things explains a lot about why he so heavily dove into independent flicks during the early 2000s. Brick, Manic, and Mysterious Skin are among my all time fave flicks.
Didn't realize just how versatile of an actor he is
I had a massive crush on him after seeing Angels in the Outfield and I've been a fan of his ever since. All through 3rd Rock, his more indie films, HitRecord... he always entertains, drama-free and just seems like a cool person.
Pretty heartbroken that "Mysterious Skin" was barely touched upon. But, we love you JGL and we are so glad you are back too :)
Right!! Mysterious skin is so underrated :(
I wish this was longer.
BTW Robert Redford as your first film director?! Niiiiicccceeeeeeee
First director that is also an actor
I read this as “NOICE” with Jake Peralta’s voice in my head
I wanted to hear him talk about Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy on Inception.
Same.
Biggest flex is saying that you are allowed to call Leonardo DiCaprio Leo .
There's so much hotness in that sentence 😍
Hello dear It’s me Joseph Gordon Levitt 🤞I would like if we can talk privately...
I'm bummed Mysterious Skin was only mentioned in passing... such a great movie (great book too)
Yeah I was so ready to hear him talk about that incredible performance!
same here. It was probably a little too risqué to discuss for a corporate production like this.
Same! His best performance easily.
It was so gross, but so realistic and well acted. Watched it around the same time something like that was happening in my church.
I really loved what he said at the beginning about this being a positive spin and he could quite easily talk about all his fails instead. I think everyone can relate to that, not everything will go your way and that's ok.
He’s like Paul Rudd man doesn’t age
I seriously love this man so much. He’s such a genuine dude who speaks so gracefully. 10/10
That look when he mentioned Heath just broke my little heart 💔
His hair is a whole lotta party in the back. Those curls were bouncing.
🤣
LMFAOOOOOO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 omg
Hello just wanna say a big thank you for your constant love and support, I really appreciate your kind words ❤️
I want to put my fingers in his hair...
I love him so much. The way he expresses himself and the carrier he’s had makes him even more wonderful.
The cuts to the timeline are so abrupt, thought they were legitimately cutting him off mid sentence the first couple times lol
he sounds like he was such a pretentious and snobby high schooler. i so would had fallen for him back then too.
