    As a Swede, I'm always amazed at how revered Dungen is throughout the world, even though all their lyrics are in Swedish, really speaks to the power of good music.

      I'm English and they are one of my favourites, apparently they pretty much single handedly inspired the start of the modern psychedelic rock movement in Australia which has spread across the world now, hugely influential.

      They're so competent musicians and the tunes are universal, the language barrier is a lesser issue. IMHO. But I'm just guessing, as a fellow Swede. :P

    2) Thank you KEXP for pronoucing thier name because I had been mispronoucing it.

    • @captaincoconut4119
      @captaincoconut4119 4 года назад +1

      this is a bit late...but the story is reine (the guitarist) occasionally gets very frustrated when recording, so much so sometimes that he throws the guitar. the first couple times he did that he cracked the neck of the guitar, so when he went to repair it again, he told his repair guy to just add cable ties to the head stock because eventually he’ll be frustrated again, resulting in his guitar cracking, so the ties are a way to prevent that from happening again...

      +betojmd you can buy clones of the carlin compressor from moodysounds in sweden. Great pedal.
      I believe Reine (the guitarist) uses his wahwah a lot to shape the sound as well. And some of his distortion comes from his old klemt echolette tape-echo/amp as well.
      moodysounds.com/en/produkt/carlin-compressor-clone/ there's the compressor. Fun fact: the customer mentioned in the description of the pedal was me, haha, I feel pleased that I in a very small way helped start the reissues of the pedal.

    These guys need to learn how to turn the fuck up for American audiences. I saw them about 10 years ago in Detroit, around when they released Ta det lungnt and Tio bitar (which are beasts), expecting to see an intense, balls to the wall rock show. What I got was a neutered Robert plant 1975 shtick, sunday drive easy listening. I'm not advocating hearing loss, but this was the quietest, low intensity, rock show I've ever seen. These guys have the chops and the songs, but bore to tears live.

    • @betojmd
      @betojmd 8 лет назад +17

      +hurkamur1 and guys like you need to learn that some people make music mostly for themselves. do you really think that their biggest goal as musicians is to pleasure american fans? bands/musicians doesn't own you anything, if they're happy doing what they want, that's fine already, in the end it's up to you to like them or not, get over this thing man. also judging from other live videos from them here on youtube, I would never see/rate them as a quiet live band, the problem you've mentioned probably wasn't their fault but to the place where they gig'ed.

      +betojmd There are all kinds of reasons a band can do a lackluster show. Maybe they just weren't feeling it, or jetlagged or something . It had nothing to do with bad playing, they were tight, just boring as hell. In contrast to their recorded material which is highly charged. The show was at the magic stick, a legendary Detroit club. I've seen probably over a hundred shows there over the years, had nothing to do with the venue. It wasn't a cheap ticket, and in Detroit you can't play a softcock show. I saw the Notwist there a few years earlier, who I thought would be good, but they blew the doors off the place, beyond all expectations.

      then again you've made me sure that it's just your opinion. your previous comment only express hate and no way it's some kind of positive criticism. you have the right to dislike them sure, but just because you don't like something on them doesn't mean they're doing it wrong. they don't own you anything dude move on, the main point of art isn't to make other people happy, most of the times people doing art just want to let their feelings flow or show into something outside their minds, what you said was really gross of your part.

      ***** blah blah "art" blah blah. Whatever dude, of course it's just an opinion. But I was disappointed enough by a show I saw 10 years ago that i was compelled to whine about it on RUclips. Just a word of warning for others, I'll support these particular artists, by spending heaps on the records, and avoiding the live show.
