Murph is so underappreciated. That dude absolutely shreds those drums.
Agreed but, when you put him in between Lou and J it's pretty easy to go unoticed. Same way with Alex Lifeson of Rush.
+Patty M Since when is Alex Lifeson unoticed? He's like one of the most praised drummers.
+Patty M Since when is Alex Lifeson unoticed? He's like one of the most praised drummers.
+Nick Haakman Alex Lifeson is a guitarist...
MekanikKommandoh88 Sorry I totally screwed up, I ofcourse mean Neil Peart. Stupid me
No matter you opinion of the songs, Dinosaur Jr is one of the tightest live bands. Kudos to Murph
yeah.. I've heard they live just once, and they were amazing! i think it was one of the tightest bands I've ever saw performing on a stage
Under rated band..They need to be in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
nah, that's gay.
when Lou is into it, nobody is better on 4 strings. love watching him groove on that thing.
Lowenstein is better...
My Dino Jr story: The band was originally named Dinosaur, and had to add the Jr after getting sued by Grateful Dead-related jam band The Dinosaurs. It seems silly that anyone would get confused between the two but whatever.
When I saw Dino Jr in 1993 at the Warfield in San Francisco, I ate a little too many shrooms and while the music was amazing, I ended up huddled up in a little ball against the back wall, just listening so I didn't get overwhelmed by the visuals.
After a while I needed some space and I went out to the lobby, where I saw an old hippie wandering around, clearly also tripping, looking way more lost than I was. He looked so out of place, so.... confused.
As our eyes met, I realized--he's wearing a Dinosaurs t-shirt. He had confused the two bands enough to come to the wrong show. Poor guy. I've felt bad for 27 years that I couldn't help him understand that moment.
I was so ready to dismiss this story. I'm glad i didn't. awesome!
dude now i feel bad for him and I wasn't even there
I took acid. Went to see The Cramps at Brixton Academy (for free) and they were SO bad 3 of us left. It was SO fuckin phoney
@@frankystarrz meth is a helluva drug.
That’s heavy.
These guys represent the three fates of male hair in middle age: Stay the same (Lou), go grey (J), or fall out (Murph)...
😁
If you think that Lou's is natural, you're dreaming..😉
@TheBoi353 not the colour, man. That's from a bottle, LOL! 😁
Im at Murph
I'm at Murph's stage too
There's only two fates, go gray or falls off since that's what happens. Either you go bald or you just go gray. 50-50. No other way out.
J Mascis - Eternally Underwhelmed
Feels like 100% an autistic trait.
Understated underrated
@@MammaApa he’s autistic?
@@ericcartmanstitimplants8768 no chance, he's like that because from what i've heard he does anxiety treatment with some marijuana thing and that makes him super underwhelmed or atleast slow.
@@shinypng1850I thought J was super straight edge
considering the many breakups and deaths in (alternative) rock music in the last decades, the Dinosaur Jr Reunion is surely the best thing that happened in my / our lifetimes... hope they will continue to release many more epic records

the miracle reunion of Dinosaur lets the Fall of the Berlin Wall look small (lol)
No other band grabs my attention with each instrument like Dino Jr. I'm usually most appreciative of a good drummer, a catchy bassline is pretty easy for me to get obsessed with but I don't often get "obsessed" with a guitar sound.
These 3 lads are so fucking talented,im obsessed with how they're instruments sound together
Distinctive voice that takes me back to the 90's.
When someone tells me they dislike Dinosaur Jr. I give them the same look Michael gives Toby in The Office.
i don't know how jay mascis doesn't get into his music he is playing. fuck i would be smiling and dancing. He just feels it from the inside. I respect that.
The way Lou plays that bass is so infectious, and Jay is so amazing!

Thank you. 😊
I have been a fan since 1989, seen them in concert 6 times. One of my favorites.
They've got better and better over the years. I saw them early on in the UK and some of those gigs were pretty bad. Since they reformed they're like a different band live.
At 52, and after seeing them 5 times over the past 20 years, I think it's time to being ear plugs. I've always been dead set against it, but god damn, they finally convinced me! But live, they are just insane.
this sounds so pure, crisp, classic Dinosaur jr...awesome...
Marc. Oh, hey there!
@@DreytedJr Nice...
Guitar player here, but I'm always amazed at how Lou absolutely assaults his bass lol. That guy is incredible and way underrated.
You seen the movie KIDS?
I think Dinosaur Jr. is getting better and better... Their new disc is EXCELLENT. So glad I purchased a ticket to see them in Atlanta! Stoked! Senor Mascis is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. Keep jamming, J., you are excellent! Gotta add, the entire band is kicking the big A these days...drumming and bass lines are stupendous!!!
Water is wet
Two bands that blow the paint off the walls live are Dinosaur Jr. and Pixies.
Posies, too.
I saw the Pixies a few months ago and they were awesome, I haven’t had a chance to see Dinosaur Jr. yet though so hopefully they find their way back to North Carolina in the near future.
I saw the Pixies in Atlanta in 1991 when Kim Deal was the bass player just before I went in the Air Force. She took the stage, spit on the mic, then they proceeded to try to take the stadium walls down with sound. I had a major crush on her.@@RoryGFan-39
Those guys are ridiculously good. That about sums up my feelings after watching this.
This is such a killer performance. I wish all live recordings sounded this good.
You're Living All Over Me has to be the BEST goddamn Dinosaur Jr. album ever. I mean, I like other ones. I like Bug and I like Green Mind and Where You Been? But YLAOM is their greatest masterpiece. I still listen to it to this very day.
It's between that one and Where You Been. So many good tracks on WYB.
Farm is my favorite. It's so chill but with this brutal power behind it.
Dan D. Warhol i absolutely agree!!!!!
Dan D. Warhol youre living all over me is their best .
J. Mascis, I appreciate your passion! But “where you been” are you fucking kidding me? Unbelievable chops! Great licks! A classic guitar album
I've practically been a fan of Dinosaur Jr. my whole life. My parents got me their first album when I was 8. That was 30 years ago this year. If you haven't already, give their debut album a listen and you can hear the greatness that was to come.
Dinosaur Jr.: The band analogue of a couple that can’t stand each other, but the sex is fucking incredible
Holy shit rude is such a badass song
sludgefeast is love
Why do I love this band so much?! I am literally addicted and a few months ago I didn't get them at all.
For me it’s the element of heartbreak in so many Dino songs. I almost wanna thank the people that screwed me over that made me appreciate this band. Even post heartbreak I stuck around though, because damnit if this band isn’t 🔥
Honestly I think J is a prophet. And i am not joking
Probably the best rifs on earth for starters
These guys are so good, for so many reasons. Love this snapshot of their incredible musicianship. Everyone here is so good at what they do.
how incredibly excellent this is - still, after all these years
It's just not fair. Nobody has the right to be this righteous.
LOVE THE TONE OF J's SOLOING 4 & HALF MINS IN. HES BRILLIANT!!
Holy crap. This is insanely good.
Water is wet
Murph's drums are sounding awesome here!
His snare drum is the only thing jumping out of the dull mix.
I'm drawn to The absolute honesty of the music. These guys just play and what happens is magic. Great drums, manic bass and I can't explain the guitar its solid with just a hint of whammy.
one of my favorite bands of the 90s out of fashion, trend and live are HUGE!!!
From Milan Italy
I find myself watching this everyday since I found it, what a great performance and such excellent recording quality.
Same here. A little embarrassed to admit I passed these guys over completely back in early nineties and I'm a musician (SMDH). No worries, here I am 30 years later saying to myself WTF! Lou is an amazing and very unique "next level" bassist. I'll never forgive myself for not being open to these guys when it mattered more.
I'm on day 3 and I don't see it stopping. This is an AMAZING performance.
Sometimes you just have to dream that you can play guitar this well.
Flawless playing
Lou's a really good vocalist.
anyone else think murph is a great, underrated drummer? i know j writes the drum parts but murph has the perfect sloppy feel and hard attack for this music
been a big fan forever of dinosaur, one of the few bands who completely changed their sound from their early work and still sound great and make great music! love both eras of dino the hard rocking early years and the mellow later years!
it's good that the later years aren't _that_ mellow too :-)
Like radiohead
Incredible quality, thanks!
The quality is excellent. Thanx for posting this is full!
Nice video! Amazing Band! Stunning LIVE!!!! Thank you!
I love these guys from the first days of my own musical existence, probably the best songwriting ever
As I get older I appreciate Dinosaur Jr more and more
11:31 to the exact lead in of the bass shows how vital Lou is to their sound, also this recording is pristine
WOW! This is so great on so many levels!!
J. is a f***** guitar hero. He walks side by side with Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo and a few others that make every single Numetal and Melodic Metal fan cry at night. This, young fellas, is what guitar playing is all about. Brain Damage.
incredible quality, such an enjoyment listening this
Lou Barlow: Jr member of the power trio Rickenbacker bassist club with Phil Lynott, Lemmy, Geddy, the dude from Budgie, ...
And Al Cisneros
Bruce Foxton of The Jam as well.
Michael Cera
Cliff Burton!
This was great! Thanks!
Simply masterful.
The only time I saw them live (and it was all the OG's in this vid), I had to go to Hollywood, at the Consortium....with my mom because I didnt wanna go alone haha. Mind you, she was a late 40s Mexican, barely knowing english woman. It was one of the best shows Ive ever been to and an amazing memory with my mom. Something I'll never forget.
Absolutely loved training ground! Great performance!
I'm watching this video with mouth agape and my eyes wide open as I can get them. Crazy Wild! Love it. Keep it comin' Domminic.
This is musical genius in purity. Love it.
the sound on this session is awesome!!!
Dinosaur jr is never end .
Dios, qué banda, me vuelan la cabeza!
Amazing!!!
I've seen them live several times, always so fucking damn good!!!
great song, video, groupe...
"If I want to start listening to DinoJr., where do I start?" "Here, start here"
jako dobri kao i uvjek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad to wacth Dinosaur Jr...!
they always have a great sound, so easy to listen to :D
E P I C ! Sludgefeast, i love this song for almost 27 years.
Cool as always!
Awesome!
Three exceptional musicians!! Getting better with the age, just like wine!!! Love'em.
By now they may have learned something
The production is awesome Roundhead nails it
ADORO ESSA BANDA!!!
demasiado increible se pasaron graciiaas!!! skateboarding is not a crime!!!
3 outstanding musicians.
so goood!!!
Hair is very important in rock.
GREAT!
Lou enjoys a good pair of slacks.
And Murph's sticks look like they're 36" long.
they look nice on him though lol
The sound is superb.
Wow, one of the best live version of Sludgefeast ever, bravo.
i havent heard a bad or not so good version of sludge feast yet..and heard many
THANKS!!!
Perfect!!!!
Caught them at their concert and they were brilliant as well!
Me too! Same thing, didn't really get em 3 or 4 months ago, now i can't stop listening!
This is just terrific. It's such a big, great, distorted sound pushing forward. Just love it. Incidentally, Murph is extra-relaxed -- which is completely counter-intuitive -- but he delivers the extra power and push of this band. Just love it. (And, yes, I've seen them live 4-5 times. They're extraordinary, IMHO.
Feel like dinosaur jr is one of the only bands to stay consistently good for over 30 years
Nice! great band
I just read that Over your shoulder the last track on Without a Sound is presently climbing the charts in Japan.
That just proves quality never gets forgotten .
I love any quality live Dinosaur Jr performances .
They are the band I go to between tool albums lol
That song was written about J’s mom dying in think
Best three piece to ever live
holy chips hope they come back to Akl, NZ one day again............
Massive thanks for this, 95bfm.
Sensacional!
"It's one of our slower songs..." ha.
Awesome Tunes here
i wish they played more songs! God they're so good
Saw them live this summer. I was standing directly in front of Lou and damn, that was the best internal organ massage I've ever gotten.
Same here, saw them a few weeks ago. Could feel the air coming off those stacks!
These guys can't remember what year a certain album was released, but can play whole songs all day without even communicating or rehearsing with eachother. epic
I love how the drummer just looks like a random dad. The kind you'd see out mowing the lawn in white new balance shoes.
yet had the biggest drug problem. But he is a cool guy and has kicked that shit.
Yeah in the middle of winter
I just bought my ticket for the DC show in November. I've waited a few decades to see them - something always came up before. Not this time. I'll quit my job if I have to. I'm seeing Dinosaur. One of the best bands ever. (I did see Sebadoh, and the Lemonheads when Murph was with them, but this is different...)
