I think I had been around 7-8 when I got my hands on this game. Will say didn’t replay the stripper level other than failing the button prompt. But around the same time I did get in a little bit of heat for staying at the Earthy delights club in Suran in Morrowind.
I think the reason why the guy throws his gun away is due to implications. Its a firearm that is registered witg the police and to him. So he gets rid of it to show hes essentially AWOL. That is at least my guess.
Random, but my favorite line is "Did you call the cops?". The way Jack says it to the guy, especially after taking out hundreds of Triads, is hilarious to me. "You coward mob boss, you called the cops on me!?"
I remember reading about a spin off game called Extreme Force: Grant City Anti-Crime and it looked awesome. The game was pretty much finished by all accounts but for some reason Namco killed it.
I keep saying that Dead to Rights should have been a one and done game, like kill.switch and Urban Reign. I would like Namco to remaster those three and release them as a package deal. But if they do, they have to be the PS2 versions. Why? Because the PS2 Dead to Rights has the cheat codes, that's why. Yeah, you might not be able to get achievements if you do that, but some sections of the game can be hard even though the PS2 version is toned down in difficulty.
I think you could have made a decent trilogy max payne got 3 great games. Urban reign was fun but I wish there was a bit more of a storyline and the 100 levels get pretty repetitive
Great video! I actually love DTR Retribution! The cover based shooting is reminiscent of Gears and the combat is reminiscent of Arkham or Sleeping Dogs. And while each part of gameplay doesn’t compare independently to those, the whole is worth more than the sum of its parts for me.
After so many years I played the (in Germany forbidden) game retribution and I loved it! The music was awesome and the story was so nice cliche. Like a B-Movie. Awesome.
So I bought a blue old PSP because I remember I had my old one when I was a kid it was blue as well and when I was searching some games I found this game I was like..I remember this and when I played the rush unlocked memories that I forgot I even had came to me I am so happy you made this video it’s my chance to find which of these did I play I think it might be reckoning tbh
Something annoying about the original dead to rights is that when the right joystick controls are switched around, unless I’m doing something wrong i don’t see a way to fix this
Reckoning on th PSP was better than Dead to rights 2 because the bodies stayed around, blood splattered on the environment, you dive into enemies and a cool disarm animation happened and you could shoot from a prone state. Seemed like 2 was meant to be the PSP game and Reckoning the console game.
I remember this game only ever played it once all the way through as my mom gave me it and told me don’t tell your dad cause I’m sure she knew my pops wouldn’t of wanted me playing something like this 😂
Unfortunately ddr retribution not ported to PC version😢. I played ddr1 and 2 in my PC. But i like ddr retribution storyline which is the best game in this series.
Mr.Hammers me and you need to hangout I can tell you're definitely my age when it comes to these games😂 Man Dead To Rights was such an underrated game! I never got into to Max Payne I preferred Dead To Rights to be honest. This game was really cool to me and the prison chapter was the best part, just unique for its time period in ps2 games.
In this cheesy games defense i think Auggie would be in the self defense position considering Jack was a rogue cop with a personal vendetta that just killed everyone Auggie knows
I liked part 2 the most. I never played the newest one 🤷🏾♀️ i only learned about the psp game like 7 or 6 years ago. I liked the first game the least. The newest one looks cool but mam his making so slow
I love this series. With my ranking of the series being Retribution, Dead to Rights, Reckoning, DtR2(Not as good as Retribution, Dead to Rights, or Reckoning but still a guilty pleasure), and in dead last the worst game in the series Dead To Rights GBA version.
While DTR had more to do and the story was a pretty nice die hard camp plot, I think I could play DTR2 before I play DTR again. God, the gun and melee gameplay were BAD in the first one. The slow mo got me killed more often than not, the snipers NEVER MISS no matter the distance so you're bleeding damage anytime they're around and you're not in cover, and the melee combat was bullshit; you would think you can counterattack after the enemy whiffs their combo, but they get to dodge and weave you anyway, and you don't get the same luxury. I dunno how you beat Hennesey so easily... but then I did play the whole game on hard. Funny thing about the bosses in 2 is that while they have their weird invincibility thing going on, you can cheese them out with throwing weapons to keep stunlocking them. Do it right and the cowboy boss never gets a chance to call for backup. Gotta agree about Reckoning, the fuk was up with that damn camera. Nearly ruins the whole game. Along with the lockon that decides to loclk on to a different target whenever you release it. Like it's prioritizing going through somesort of a list instead of who is closest. DTR Retribution is pretty good like you said though, and has the coolest looking Jack Slate of them all (hated the designs for him in DTR2/Reckoning) but I never even knew they had a gameboy version. Want to try it, but it certainly sounds like trash. Overall, really enjoyed this blast from the past. Never played Max Payne, but I've alwyas been curious about that series so I'll check out those videos next.
I didn't know there were 5 games in the franchise. That's 2 more than the series -it ripped off- that inspired it despite having nowhere near the same critical or financial success.
Being the same genre isn't why I call them clones, but using the same gameplay mechanics and presentation is pretty obviously a clone. It's not a bad thing, but devs definitely do it. An innovative game comes out and then studios start wanting to make a game like _____. Happens with every popular game and Max Payne was one of them. Same with GTA 3, God of War, etc
@@MrHammers True, true but DTR was made by Japanese with their own spin and Japanese general don`t even know that is trending and popular in the gaming world. This game most likely was inspired by 10 000 Bullets and not Max Payne.

That's gross
It's rare seeing an ad break so late into a video
Have u reviewed enter the matrix it’s a good game I played as a kid it was fun asf
Enter the matrix is like this but follows the story of the matrix it’s a good ass ps2 game
The funniest takeaway from this is you not believing that jack is struggling to lift 125kg while having a Soylent ad break right after

I didn't watched the video, i just wanted to tell that you're doing God's work by spreading the iconic greatness of VC hammer
Fun fact: this game was post to be base from " escape from LA". Some of the levels did show up did show up in this game.
" I was about to do something real stupid" *throws gun away*
you already did lol
Throwing away his service weapon so it isn't traced to him? Yeah... Real stupid..

All FPS games were at one point called Doom clones. And Doom wasn't even the first FPS, it came out after Wolfenstein 3D.

I can totally see the charm in it, and out of the whole series it's the first one I'd go back and replay again

awesome stuff as always bro keep it up

Damn.... How could I be so blind
@@MrHammers Its 2024. Be better sir 😂
Imma do my homework next time lol
Man it’s hard to find this game. I was obsessed with this game as a kid
The first one is still on the Xbox store, I actually bought it on my Series S cause I played it a lot as a kid. Nice little trip down memory lane
I remember Critical Nobody talking about how his dad always found the intro for Dead To Rights nonsensical, since his dad was a cop.
wait wait 48:42 isn't that the same line in COMMANDO by Arnold Schwarzenegger?
I was in HS when this came out, it was a fun take on the Max Payne formula. Glad to see it getting some love.

I absolutely miss this franchise. Wish there’s a new DTR game in development. I miss playing as Shadow so much!
Methinks it’s Total Overdose time Mr. Hammers.
The GBA version reminds me of the old True Lies SNES/Genesis game.
as an autistic person, i find original jack more real than the reboot😂.

This game was made on the ashes of "Escape from New York" game...
bummer
Minions at the Mansion.
Am i tho only one who thinks that Jack from Dead to Rights:Retribution looks like Chris from Resident Evil 5?
Everyone shut up he’s back
It's hilarious that Namco let's Jack and Shadow rot, but give Nina a gun dive, make Viktor, and give Leroy Sugar. Cowards.
In my opinion the first one was more realistic then part 2

Whisper in the Villa?
IMO Dead to Rights 2 has pretty fun gunplay. And I kinda like the soundtrack. The game has crazy B-Movie Action film vibe.
It was alright but I hated how it turned to final fight or streets of rage. Also the final level felt rushed and incomplete
@@thestranger9608 I agree. The final boss was kinda pathetic while the final levels were frustrating as hell on high difficulty.
At least graphics looks much better than first game. Even widescreen era well done.
