Hope youre recovering well. I ruptured mine 5 weeks ago. There are some amazing studies now based on conservative treatment and the results are only 1-2% more positive on the surgery group. Mine was in a cast for 4 days then in a boot and 30 degrees of flexion. They have you weight bearing after 2 weeks and every 2 weeks lower the boot slightly. Fingers crossed.
@@LordFlashheart.11 Oh wow! That’s great! I’m about 5 months out now and am walking pretty decent. I can walk for a good while without pain but my foot still feels tight whenever I go from stationary to walking. It takes me about a minute of walking around before it feels better. With that said, I do limp a bit when I start walking. In the early stages, it was motivating because I would see weekly progress. These last 2 months or so have been a bit more disheartening since I’m not really noticing any progress. I guess I can’t rush the healing process and just have to give it time. 👍 Wishing you a swift recovery!
@@sunshinegirlvlog I actually had a full tear that was surgically repaired as well. I went with the surgery, because I’m very active; and I needed something to ensure my achilles would completely heal with the least possibility of it tearing again. I work in physical therapy for a rehab clinic in Texas; and I always tell patients it took about 6 months for both my tendon and scar to heal, and about a year just to mentally get back to doing the things I did in the gym before my injury.
@@billyocean031I’ll be in a walking boot after surgery. I think surgery is the best route if we plan to have active lifestyles. I don’t want to be limited to what I could do due to the fear of it rupturing again
From what the Dr told me, he estimates 6 months before I start walking normally and 1 year for full recovery. Surprised how long the healing process is
@@billyocean031 Thanks for the warning. That nerve block is strong, Dr had said it would wear off in about 12hr and to take a pain med. It’s 24r and I’m still 75% numb so haven’t taken pain meds yet. I’m going to wait until I have more content in terms of recovery and PT before I post part 2 as that will be my last video regarding my Achilles rupture
@@sunshinegirlvlog aw yes. The good ol’ nerve block. Brace yourself for potential Armageddon once it wears off. As long as you use good time management with the meds you should be fine. I had to work my way off them as soon as I could, because they gave me chest pains 🤢.

@sunshinegirlvlog Take it easy and don't rush it. Sometimes people reach a plateau and then it gets better. I wish you well and good luck. X
Sorry about your achilles injury 😞. I tore my achilles 3 years ago, so I feel your pain…BLAH!😖
I’m sorry to hear you had to go through this as well. Not a quick healing process

@@sunshinegirlvlog will you be in a walking boot after surgery or a hard cast for a while?

How long are you expected to be off your feet?

Hello. How did your operation go?
Surgery went well! Lower leg is still numb from the nerve block so pain hasn’t kicked in yet 👍
@@sunshinegirlvlog yes. The first 2 weeks after surgery were the most challenging for me. Are you doing a post-op video soon?
