Thanks everybody for watching. The automatic shift boot is much harder to do than the manual. Just need a little patience when gluing the boot and you'll be fine. Both boots look great and so far the interior is looking good. Twisted Shifterz Shift Knob ruclips.net/video/rWRNVq3V4FA/видео.html
I like the subtleties without going too crazy. Car is already yellow so it doesn't need much lol. Except a loud exhaust which it now has, so my life is complete 🤣
I put the E boot on I put the shifter boot on and I also put the shifter adapter on at the same time the worst part of whole the whole thing was put just getting my Chinese adapter to work properly what effing nightmare but it’s done thanks again my friend I couldn’t of done it without you
Great video Dave! Looks nice too! I unfortunately ruined the first one cutting the hole to fit. Then had trouble gluing the second boot. I actually ended up installing the boot without the lower trim. It fit nicely around the gearshift indicator. Can’t tell it is missing. Hope that helps others with the struggle making it all fit.
I was wondering that and almost went that route lol. Figured I'd give it a shot first and I almost messed up cutting the hole too. Trickier than it looks for sure. Thanks for sharing your experience 👍
VERY nice video, guy. Very very nicely done. I'm getting ready to fix the loose resistors on my HVAC unit, the ones that cause the display to dim. Anyway, I've had a red/black shift boot I bought 15 years ago from Mike at MAM. I think I'll give it a try while I'm in there. My biggest worry is cutting that leather slot! I've pulled my original LS1 outta my 2000 Torch Red Vert, built my own LS7, then installed the engine myself. But I'm afraid of a little ol' leather slot, 😆 🤣
I have a video on the dim display, but sounds like you know how to tackle that. Pretty simple, just don't be heavy handed with it. I hear you on the making the smallest cut in leather is pretty nerve racking lol
Excellent video. Actually, I was trying to figure out why my automatic 2003 C5 shift indicator does not light up at night. Is it supposed to? I don't know if it ever did. Is mine simply burned out?
It's supposed to light up and it's a standard 194 bulb just like the footwell, rear cargo area, glove box and license plate light. Yours is probably burnt out, so you could go LED or back to halogen 194 bulb.
Follow all these steps and then that gives you access to the gear indicator to remove the plastic and all that. There's a video by C&S Corvette on how to get a little closer to the bulb.
Great job looks awesome, quick thing, when you put the zip tie on if you would have put it the boot inside out than zip tie it an than fold it over ( sorry if I'm not explaining it right) that would take up probably about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Maybe ?
Loved the car and transmission doesn't matter to me. I can get a built 4L60 once I start adding serious power and it'll be just fine. Until then I'll add a trans cooler to keep temps down bc heat is a main factor for failure.

I just continue to love how you're transforming this car.

Nice little project that helps change up the interior a bit. Glad the vids helped you out and glad you got it to where you're happy with it.

I've screwed up gluing 2 boots and am currently awaiting a 3rd😂. I saw this comment and it all makes sense. Appreciate that
@@DaltonZett im on my third one I’m trying one more time I had my interior apart for month now lol

Looks awesome, good job. I also have the boots from that same company, but of course mine are purple themed.
Thanks! Yea, they have a wide range of material and thread color. Great stuff and happy I decided to try it out.
Great videos, thanks. Did you end up not using the zip tie? I tried but couldnt get the black trim piece over the lesther boot, it was to thick.

@@YellowVette04 Thanks for the quick reply. Do I tear the console apart to get to it? Or does the gear indicator somehow come off?

Great informative video bro. Miss my C5
I've been eyeing up C6s lately. Not getting rid of the C5, but I got that itch lol

Yea about that much. You'll need to do that with the OEM shifter so the boot meets up to the shifter nicely and doesn't fall from gravity over time.
Did you do a video on how to do the install on the push down knob for the gear shift.....
I did and loving the look as well.

@@YellowVette04 yes.....love the look.....Thanks
Nice video. Again!
Thanks. About time I showed the interior some love lol.
Great as usual
Appreciate it buddy 🤘
Why not zip tie it before clipping that plastic piece in by the gear select?
What made u go with the 4l60?

I will add that I installed it inside out First to install that zip tie
Yes, great point. Makes that easy. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
It would be helpful if you showed people how to remove the knob
Did you watch the first 2 mins of the video? I show how it's done
Hellla gay auto
Cool. If that makes you feel good about yourself 👍
