Just bought this in 2020. I needed something that was really easy to use to create sounds and banks. I still use the distortion built into the head, and run this through the effects loop for the best sound.
I love the simplicity of this multi f/x pedal. Its like using your favorite series of stomp boxes and saving them to recall any time that you want. The fact that you dial any almost any sound that you want is really good, and all you have to do is store it. Done, just that simple!
@@johnmclaughlin3217 for simplicity just go for boss me 70 and advanced me80.the me80 can connect via usb for tone studio editor but me70 just tweak from the pedal.this two processors are good.
John McLaughlin Considering the price for ME 80 is stepping onto the GT series, IMO you might as well save more and jump into the GT series on used market. Personally the 70 is quite sufficient for me to this day
I got this recently as a gift, have to say I'm impressed. I've always loved Boss pedals since my dad gave me his CE-2 Chorus for my 16th birthday. This ME-70 was a 30th birthday present, so a long time has passed! Lots of very usable tones in this one box - I've not yet made a sound that isn't good, even if some of them wouldn't have much place in real world playing. Personally I'd suggest this is a perfectly acceptable live alternative to a collection of individual boxes.
What ever you do , hold on to that CE 2 for dear life, I lost mine way back in 1993 , the seconds in the market for CE 2 are way above what I can afford. Easily the very best Chorus pedal BOSS has ever produced.
i can honestly recommend the me-70. i was skeptical about it at first, since i thought that the sounds would be "plastic" sounding and thin. But i plugged it to a good 50 watt amp and it sounds great
You are one heck of a guitar player! and I found one of these to buy and now I'm sold on it! Thanx! It's the sounds I need for the recordings I'm doing.
@@MultiStar84 I paid $ 187.00. it was missing one knob and a broken power supply, I got it From a place in California... Reverb something or other... It works and that's all I care about. I got the manual off the internet and going through it to learn about it.
The ME series are simplier to operate processors and GT are professional processors with deep editing possibilities, USB interface for recording and editing/managing patches with your computer.
I’ve been using it for about 12 years and seems to work fine with me and running it thought a Marshall 60 watt tube head and a 1961 Marshall 1/2stack great sound...
Frank Black Because back then guitarists actually had to have skills and technique to survive. That died out with grunge and power chord bullshit. It’s called talent dude
Chances are if you're looking at this review video, you're not one of them pedalboard snobbists who wants boutique effects and one pedal for each tone. The ME-70 is a true "pedalboard replacement" for even the professional guitarist, and while lacking in an Acoustic FX setting, the ME-70 (for its price) can replace every other pedal you'd ever want.
@Arthur Gotti Yes. Obviously BOSS has released more powerful multi-effects boards since the ME-70 with more features, but if you like the user-interface and functionality then it's a great buy. With some third-party cabinet IRs it also makes for a great outboard modeler in a studio setting!
I have the Boss Me 70, and YOU CAN USE multiple pedals on the same time, and is waaaaaaay cheaper than the POD500. I play with a friend and he has a couples of boss analog pedals, and the boss me 70 makes the same sound!, the same analog sound on a digital unit. I always use a clean amp modeling>compr>classic distortion>delay>reverb. Etc.
@guitarshreder43 I believe the four pedals also change presets. there are 18 banks (9 read only, 9 edit-able by you) of 4 presets each. You can switch between those four quite quickly, but if you are trying to get to another bank that could take a while longer.
at 3:44 you kind of jump ahead saying lets begin by using an empty user patch... after attempting all of the rest of what you taught ... I think I was still missing some of the ins and out... thanks very much for the tutorial ... I am still not getting it though...
I wish I knew what the recording setup was on this video. Looks like he just has a 1/4" out, and yet it sounds amazing. What interface, software, etc. are they using???
That is a surprise to hear because Boss usual delivers good distortion and overdrive sounds. That because for these particular effects they use analog electronic designs. What do you mean with "use multiple pedals of the same time" ...?
I use it like a delay machine, volume pedal and tremolo, vibrato, and phase stompbox's and i think it's good. I don't like distortions of it- they're so COOOOLD. BUT fuzz is REALLY OK (Oo), and the booster to.... In my oppinion it's really good stuff, to use it for delay and modulations
Hi, I'm beginning to be come interested in this pedal but one question.. (this might sound really dumb but) Does the pedal have the ability to quickly change to a different effect ( a bit like changing to a Solo effect)?
@CreepingMetalDeath It has Dimarzio ToneZone(bridge) and Evolution(neck) pickups and Original Floyd Rose tremolo. Paul has even installed the FloydRoseUpgrades brass sustain block in it. It's quite a rock machine.
@cgsweep great shit man thanks for the reply. one other question, would a noise gate be something that would help this pedal function through a live setup?
I got a Squier Strat (i know i know, I'm going to buy a new guitar soon) and my amp is a Marshall JTM-50 1x15. Is this worth buying? I play almost every style, country, (hard)rock, hardcore, metal, blues.
is good! because you can use the rectifier amp model for heavy metal plus the metal section on the od/ds pedal! :) i will get mine tomorrow! i will put a lot of videos about it!
@staggguitars666 Did it come with a manual? If not, download one from the boss website! They really are worth reading to get the most out of your unit!
I'm thinking about buying a good multieffect pedal like this one for metal playing. Is this a good choice along with a bc rich Jr V (emg 81-85) and a fender 212 r amp??? please i need an answer . thanks in advance
ok, never mind midi, i see hes got a 1/4 in going out, so he's either going straight into the interphase or a direct box going to the interphase, interface, whichever way its spelt.
Simple question. Can I use it for just a couple of effects and use my amp for everything else? Do I run it through the effects loop? Does it have a noise gate? Thank you
When editing, can you just add one element from each bank? Ie, from modulation you have univibe and chorus and flanger. So you can only have one in your edited patch?
Will this work with any amp? I have a IBZ10G. It has a input, cd in, and headphone jack. Do you just plug you guitar into the ME 70 and that into your amp input?
can anybody help me pick? im stuck between buying a zoom g9.2tt and this pedal; the boss me 70, the advantages i can see of the zoom is lots more features and two valves, but on the downside since its gonna be my first pedal i find it a bit too sophisticated, while thats the advantage of the boss pedal; its simplicity and its awesome sparkle finish. They both cost the same, which should i buy???
It's really sounds cool for unique solo's but not for distortion, well if i have it, i'll have a switch pedal to switch from boss for jazzy tone solo, and digitech for awesome distortion
@Miteour17 I know some people may like it. But I don't... to much digital stuff working on there... get a 5watt tube amp, crank it, put a tubescreamer in it. you got your tone :)
is there any wy u can change presets on this thing fast? say u have a really good clean tone preset and u have a really dirty distortion effect that u want to change too but it's o a different preset would you be able to chage it quickly?
I much prefer amp distortion to pedals, but there are definitely better distortion pedals than Boss. Boss's stuff is really fuzzy compared to other pedals. With the POD HD500, you can use the computer interface to use multiple delays and change your signal chain the way you want. Say you want to go overdrive -> amp sim -> noise gate -> delay -> fx -> delay -> reverb -> noise gate, you can do that on the POD, and not the ME70.
You can make and save changes to knobs in user banks by pressing "write"!!! Pre-sets can't be changed (saved) It's awesome! I used to have the ME-30 but later I got this and started making all my vids! \m/
@OmGHiPPoS it's a Charvel SoCal made in SanDimas CA probably a 2008 or 2009 model btw I have a Charvel SoCal Pagan Gold and the neck is one of the best you will ever play and the dimarzio pups are great

A fantastic System..professional quality and still very significant today long after its debut

Was this in the FX loop of the amp, or in front? And what amp was used?

Sure, just keep the preamp off (obviously not a rule, but a start point). And yes, it does have a Noise gate, is the NS THRES below the screen

Yes. Just make sure to use the Line/Phones out

+paul mccartney you have to press on expression pedal to the max, put so more pressure on it and it should turn on
I recommend this or a pod x3live
@sbvikings30
Yep, in all honesty the RPs sound a bit cleaner and more pronounced but the MEs are built to be really strong. The new Line 6 POD HDs are really nice too but a little bit more complicated.
what is the model of the guitar in the video?
@Chaz6993X i've got it to...works great....it's nice to have the option of using that or using my boogie's channels
POD HD500 or Boss ME-70..? Btw..care to enlight us why too..?
this , a gt 10 or 100 or a line 6 hd ???
