If you want to control fan speed, do you have to buy the additional Razer fan PWM box? Is it kind of a pointless purchase? Sorry for the novice questions...it's been awhile...like early 2000's since I built a computer and have forgot a lot and components and their connectors are also different now.
You can do that but I think it's only necessary when you have more fans than what your motherboard can support. Otherwise, you can control the fan speeds from BIOS or other software. This box only controls the RGB lights of fans. In my case, I only have 1 RGB slot on my motherboard, so I have to chain my RGB cables together, which is fine, but that way all the RGB will be simultaneous. With this controller, each fan's or LED strips RGB can be addressed individually, creating a much more fluid lighting experience. This is all just looks really, doesn't change anything else about the fans, because they use a different cable for power, this is just for the aesthetics.
Can you connect 2 of these into the same pc so you have more 3 pin ports ? 'Cause in my dream setup there'd be 9 fans, and 1 AIO, so i would need 10 ports in this controller.

If you get the Lian Li UniFans you’d only need the included LianLi controller. I’ve got 10 fans in my setup and they plug into the controller, and the controller plugs into one header. You can plug up to 16 fans into one controller.

Just got this about a week, or so ago, and I'm really happy with it. Connecting it is ridiculously easy, and straight forward. I love how it connects to the USB 2 header on your motherboard rather than the USB Type C to Type A option provided by the Cooler Master Mini controller. One thing to note is the ports on the Razer controller might be a bit too tight for some A-RGB cable headers. I ended up using the edge of an Xacto blade to sort of scrape away a small amount of material on the tops, and bottoms to comfortably connect the cables up to the hub. Using Synapse 3 to control my lighting is incredibly awesome, but be advised that when you have a lot of devices in S3 it has a tendency to become very laggy. I'm only using 4 ports + Aura Connect, (a plugin mod designed for syncing Asus Aura devices to Synapse 3 made by AndrewBabbit97), and sometimes Synapse 3 takes a second or two to catch up. I think it's due to the animations being graphically shown in the software so you can get realtime feedback for the effects. Needless to say, I'm so glad Razer made this I can't see straight! 🤣🤣🤣
I just got this for a CPU cooler that requires the 3pin ARGB (my motherboard doesn't support this). When trying to detect the device, the RGB's on the cooler light up for a second and then synapse says "no argb devices detected"... the cooler is not a Razer product, but that shouldn't stop this thing from working, right? Any tips?
Molex carries more power than a SATA connection, that’s the main reason they would have gone with it, it is a little weird to see but makes sense if you know why!

Razer has many collabs with other brands and this product basically allows you to connect non Razer rgb product to be controlled by their rgb software whereasfor Corsair you will need to buy 3rd party adapter and even their rgb controller is so limited to 2 channel. Hope Corsair release something similar to this product.

Won't work, this thing controls a maximum of 80 LEDs per connection and up to 240 LEDs in total. a 5m strip with the usual 60 LEDs per meter would put you at 300 (5x60). I haven't found any a-rgb LED strip you can sync with Razer Connect but you can hook it up to Yeelight and Philips Hue RGB strips. Cheapest option seems to be a 'fake' philips hue product using a Gledopto RGB-CCT controller. Haven't seen anyone actually do this yet though, so not entirely sure it works.
FINALLY a way to control all the pc rgb from razer synapse I always hear people hating on synapse but honestly I've never had any issues with it; I actually enjoy using it. Sue me. Edit: ALSO we no longer have to buy razer's overpriced RGB strips in order to control rgb

Mine must be broken. Got it brand new and it'll show up (when no RGB components are connected). However, when I even have one port plugged in, nothing at all. it just shows on device manager as 'Unknown USB Device - Device Descriptor Request Failed'. All I did was plug in THEIR fans. Razer's falling off to me at this point.
It will be to the point where Tech Tesseract will have surgery to become RGB. He will ascend far beyond merely just having RGB as a mere mortal. He will be RGB.
I have a pack of ezdiy fans with its hub because they are 6-pin but it has a 3-pin output that goes to the motherboard, could I connect that 3-pin output to the razer chroma?
I got the device about a month and a half ago but there's some issues I got, my ThermalTake Water 3.0 AIO's logo is not lighting up, even tho it is on my MSI motherboard. Quite a shame cuz the only thing that is currently fully working on my Argb controller is two small led strips

Could you test the controller with the Lian li strimer plus and unifans. I have the strimer plus and controller but it will not work, synapse does not detect them.

Also, we basically saying non-Razer fans/ RGB strips are recognised and run fine following the same effects? Looks like a lot of notes on Amazon stating certain types dont seem to sync with it well. Ive got all Razer so far, but trying to decide whether I pay more to follow suit via Razer Kunai fans, or go cheaper with the Corsair ones...

Nope as long as it has a USB 2.0 header you're good. Everything you plug into the box has to he 3 pin ARGB
