Everybody saying the standard "premium" speakers are high quality didn't have a proper audio installation in their previous car. Thnx for the info, can't wait to buy them as well!
Tesla model S original audio is a one big piece of poop. The premium one is kind of ok...just ok, for a ~100 000 car. Not suprised that the model 3 has a same issue. Anyways, keep up the good work and videos 👍
I love better bigger speakers.... But When I bought an OLD honda civic, THAT was the time to upgrade speakers, with a woofer in the back. Now? My M3 has a pretty good sound system and I would LOVE BASS in the back. I think I'll hold off upgrading incase I turn in the car for a better model later on.
Are both speakers using ferrite magnets? Perhaps the Tesla speakers are neodymium magnets. Smaller but more powerful magnets. It's all about weight in a Tesla. Cant get much lighter than paper cones too and most times sound better than synthetic driver materials. Good vid.
I'm sorry but paper cone speakers are the cheapest materials to use and NO, they do not sound better than higher end materials. Tesla does a good job with the cheap materials that they use but they are definitely not better than higher end speakers.
It is amazing experience. When I am driving alone, it becomes my best sounding space (comparing to home office speakers etc). It sounds great when you turn the volume up, and sounds just as good on normal volume. I cannot imagine not installing this to any future Model 3 or Y I would have. I mean, if I ever replace the car I will probably just undo the installation and move the Alpine speakers to next car. I just did 2600km in the Tesla (check out my other video) and the speakers are really nice. Improves a lot talking over bluetooth, especially on highways. I can strongly still recommend it. Must have for any Model 3/Y imho.
if you think the premium audio sounds bad you must be high bro... even my Standard range sounds fantastic for a stock system!! an gotta remember its an Ev more power draws more current in result will result in faster drain in battery less range
The difference in amount of power it takes to move the car vs run the speakers is so huge that it doesn't matter for range. Loosing few kilos or turning heating off give you more range, not smaller speakers. They are driven by the same amplifier, so I do not even think that there is W usage difference. If anything, the new ones run lounder on the same volume setting, so I could guess they require less power now. Still, it doesn't matter with this amount of power draw. Reducing your screen brightness could give you more savings, but it wouldn't matter for range. One stronger pedal press and all the savings are gone lol :D
same amp, same power. that is not an issue. If you think the premium audio genuinely sounds good compared to anything aftermarket, you are the high one. Go sit in a model S with the real ultra premium audio (2023+). So much better than a 2019 LR 3 w/premium audio.
I have watched probably over one hundred reviews of the Model 3 and the other Tesla's. While audio quality is largely subjective based on personal preferences, every single video I have ever watched about Tesla where they mention the audio, every single one of them raves at how terrific the sound system is in all of the Tesla's. Even the reviews I have seen on the standard range Model 3 (only 8 speakers, 1 amp versus 14 speakers, 2 amps, 1 sub on all the others) say that one is very good. While I am not saying that the new Alpine speakers aren't better, to say the Tesla Premium Audio "sucks" is truly disingenuous.
That's just the nature of personal opinions. I have had a BMW 2017 with Alpine speakers (not even top tier Bose ones), I have driven Audi Q7 with BOSE ones. Before Tesla I have had 2011 Dodge RAM 1500 with Alpine sound system. The Tesla one's feels like kid's walkie talkie. The Tesla M3 one's are not necessarily crazy bad if you do not call them Premium and the car wouldn't be a 70k+ EUR car... That's why I replaced them for 2kEUR. I couldn't enjoy listening to music anymore on road trips. I may be just spoiled by good speakers from previous cars 😱
Most people don’t care about car audio so going from maybe 4-6 speakers on a car to 14 sounds amazing of course. However for us audiophiles it’s a little “eh” , my 2004 Mazda 3 craps on my model 3, infinity kaapa 6.5 / kappa tweeters/ alpine S rears / JL audio Tw3 12inch subwoofer. My model 3 is good don’t get me wrong but not a little more oomph
@@sanrehThe Tesla stock speaker drivers use neodymium magnets instead of ferrite for the Alpines. The Neodymium magnets can be way smaller but be stronger at the same time compared to ferrite units. Pretty much all car manufacturers put little neodymium magnets on their stock systems because of weight.
Honda has the worse speakers for decades. Tesla 's is decent but it seems to have less mids and lows unless you put the volume up. That has been my issue. Sound great went volume is higher only.

True that! They sound okeyish if you don't have a reference to real premium speakers.

How the original amp able to carry these huge mids and tweaters?
Somehow without problems :)

@@tin94122 on a low power, paper can sound better usually louder...so...depends what you are looking for :)
165ac or 165AS best for my Tesla model S 2020? Thanks.
Are the door speakers a bit muffled? i installed the alpines today, and they dont sound very loud.
No improvement over Tesla's? I was thinking of just purchasing only the subwoofer.
Do you have the newer base Model 3 which has deactivated A-Pillar speakers? Is there any worry of voiding warranty?
No, it's the newest Premium version, so all the speakers were activated. Warranty will be ok, except for the speakers of course :)
How is this holding up 3 months later? Appreciate your honest opinion

I just bought model 3 highland, rwd. It sounds by far worse than my 2008 honda accord with 4 speakers.

Smaller Speaker size might have been implemented for less weight to increase range possibly.
Minuscule, it's less than a weigh of my dog. I understand weigh savings, but here is purely cost savings.
