I like the camera in Synapse but if you exit out to open in OBS, Discord, Zoom, etc it totally forgets all settings and goes back to a standard setting. Synapse needs to save the settings to the camera and doesn't. Synapse doesn't record or anything so it's annoying.
Yeah I don't quite get that either. I guess we just have to ignore Synapse and use settings in OBS. EposVox sort of talked about that a little bit. TBH I only watched this video in anticipation of my own Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra showing up. There aren't many videos covering this webcam. So when I saw a new video, I just watched it. lol So are we going to see Allen on the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra soon? Guessing you won't really do a review of it, as I don't recall seeing you reviewing any video gear before, but I'm curious to see if I notice a difference with your videos.
I agree with you, and I was experiencing the same. It should store it to the camera and I mentioned it in my video but as soon as I close the software, other software takes over the settings. What I've been doing lately is turning preview off of Synapse, and then minimizing it and using whatever app (in my case OBS). Seems to keep the settings then.
Webcams do not have hardware like smartphones and action cameras so unless it has dedicated storage then it's going to depend on what software you use to control its settings and save/store them. Its $300 for a reason. The next best thing would be the Sony ZV-1 is $500 and can double as a USB Webcam and cover your needs.
Great video! $300 is steep but I guess it depends on what important for a person. I love the quality of this cameras. I use the insta360 link but this sensor gets me kinda excited to check it out one day.
The video quality of this webcam is really nice. I could see myself using this if I ever got back into streaming. The audio is interesting. I wouldn't want to listen to a stream with the webcam audio but like you said, it's good for if you're in a pinch.
Great review - thanks. Did you notice that a slight lag crept in after switching back from the built-in mic to the Rode? I have this happen on my videos sometimes and it's really tricky to eliminate - any idea how to fix it? It's a really small lag - I actually didn't notice it at all until you switched mics - so I'm just curious.
How much processing power does it take to run all the low light features? Does it have a processing chip in the webcam or is this going to slow down my single pc setup when streaming and playing a heavy hitting game with background programs??
Excellent work! Could you do a webcam comparison between the Kiyo Pro Ultra and an iPhone 14 Pro using Continuity Camera? The iPhone rear cameras and hardware and software processing are so good nowadays that it would be cool to see how they hold up against a high-end dedicated webcam.
Razer wins. Iphones can’t do lowlight and over expose. And razer has some AI to focus and unfocus which is actually surprisingly accurate. It also captures format RAW not compressed or something. Its good but idk i hate synapse its garbage.
I know why it might not be an option in OBS; do you have a 4K display? Because if you don't have a 4K monitor, you can't set your OBS canvas to 4K, and you won't be able to record 4K in OBS. The other thing to check would be the USB port you're using. If you're not using a fast enough USB port, or if your USB hub is too saturated by other devices, that may cause issues using 4K. Also USB is just finicky. First make sure your USB port is 3.0 and not 2.0 or 1.1. If you're using USB 3.0 or better, try just unplugging it and plugging it back into USB. Then try a different USB 3 port. Then try removing any other high bandwidth devices from your USB 3.
Good video. At that price though I think it should support Nvidia broadcaster or at least have something built in with some of those features such as blurring your background or changing your background
I think this might be perfect for me, I'll use it in my basement gameroom to stream one piece content, sports, 3d printing and maybe more. I'll have two lights in the room divided by a beam. Both lights have different light settings. One only by the light switch to go from 3000k, 4500k and 6000k. Then the other can go anywhere in between with a remote. I'll have prefect light control almost. I'm thinking all razor peripherals as well. I got a razor keyboard mouse and headset already.
The no 4K 60 fps is a deal breaker for me. In today's date and age, 60fps should be standard. I was about to go and order it but when i saw the no 60fps i immediately press the pause button. 300 dollars seems to be, way too much for something that can't even offer 4K 60fps. I'll look into other options and see if there's something out there that can give me what I'm looking for.
I does look better than the Facecam pro with that bigger Sensor. I'll admit it produces a very nice image. That being said, for $300 is overkill and you can get a Canon M200 or Sony A5100 with a kit lens which looks better. Great review👍

in my synapse I don’t have 4k option? Can you help?

Also, Synapse is blocked by IT set-ups at many workplaces (including mine), so forget using it for Teams meetings at work.

Yeah it is steep, but on the other hand it’s designed to bridge the gap from $1000k+ cameras + CamLink cards. Hope you get to try it soon!
The video quality is top tier

I agree Watts, mic is not ideal for a stream. Granted I was a bit far from it but still. Probably won’t be much of an issue since most won’t use it!

Great review. Any idea if the OBS Tail Air would provide better quality as a webcam?
Help! I don’t have the 4k option? Only 1080p 60fps

@@worknance I’ve done all that. I have a 4k display.
You are in fact using the Pro Ultra right? Not just the Pro?
@@thespenceryan Yes pro ultra
@@YungR0 if this issue not fixed yet, it needs to be connected to a usb3.2 gen2 port!
How does it look when Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra is viewing the person and a powerpoint in the background?
Would this be good for filming myself doing oil paintings? The digitech 920 I have is a total disappointment
Can this work with “Camtasia” video editing app??
What's your microphone setup?
Can this camera work with a chromebook?
Awesome thx. Will you make a Video on Best-Settings 4 OBS?

i might get it , razer gave me 10% off on my order for this
Fabulous - we need something like this with PTZ - maybe in 2024? :)

I feel like I prefer hearing the webcam mic over the silent high frequency noise I hear when you use external mic

weird argument. camera with lens kit and capture card is $1k, and its less convenient.
This webcam looks like a dslr
Good cam but yes terrible audio! :D
i can see a lot of black clipping
