I've been implementing your training slowly but surely! We were descendant from knights! I became a master of the arts of subtle energies, becoming able to even move arrows and such with my mind's eye.
I washed dishes for 4 years before going into fine carpentry, as well as a couple side jobs of mine, trim selling and securities buying and selling. No options or anything, slow and steady wins the race, knights were not a people given to the schemes of the commodities market! I did this for extra income while dishwashing, one of my prison break schemes!. I learned how to channel my chi naturally, I could influence arrows with mind alone, even if I lost my stick during training, I could wave my hand and 'pull it back.' I became extremely powerful
I stopped dish-washing for a better job, which I hope to go independent from in 5 years (though I will hold it down for another 5, during which I hope to attain my black belt), but decided I did not want my skill to go to waste. My chi was failing, my spirit sullen. I had to keep up. I started training blade, but put down the sword. My benefactor told me that he pictured me as the kind of "fallen knight who fights with a staff, not a sword (haha!)." I picked up the staff, which is the best for people gifted in the subtle arts of the spirit, or chi/ energy. The staff is definitely the honorable path.
I do hope to teach some knightly forms, not combat forms, but rather the mentality of chivalry, though perhaps a bit more modernized, and with the fighting forms of Kung-Fu. I hope to do this through Kung-Fu (once I get a black-belt in Kung-Fu), some Knightly practitioners do not take the arts of the spirit seriously. it is a lost art, but some of our ancestors had power. Naturally I would mostly do this for the sake of being involved in the community. This skill gives me a chance to teach people the ways of the spirit in a sullen and otherwise beleaguered world.

This video is awesome. I have been trying to practice in my apartment but I see that I don't have much swinging space. So I asked my friend who has a big spacious garden if I can train there tomorrow and thereafter. She agreed. Yeah.

Yes, just short form of staff for training or taolu for training. I think it’s a universal practice because a short staff is always close at hand.
