- Liitokala Lii-500 is a high-end, smart battery charger with 4 independent charging channels.Order it from GearBest - goo.gl/Bpw7uN for 25USD. It supports Ni-MH, NiCd, Lithium Ion batteres and 26650, A, 17335, 22650, 26500, 14500, 18650, 17355, 17335, 17670, AA, 10440, 18490, AAA, 16340, 17500 sizes. Also it has really neat function to test batteries for real capacity
IMPORTANT: NOR test stands for Normal test , basically it's a lot slower test then Fast Test.

Please correct me if am wrong... I think the NORM test will charge_discharge_charge? Instead of your explanation discharge - charge - discharge.
Nope. He is right
Norm (normal) test will indeed check that the battery is full (charge) - then discharge and show you how much it got out - starts flashing "END" as test is finished, while charging it back up. But the mAh reading will no longer change. +RevMeTech should really annotate the wrong information he's giving in the video.
+gelisob will do
nice. thanks
Liitokala is to blame.. in the manual is written nor mode: 1. discharge 2. charge (with cap. test) 3. discharge
But It's the exact opposite.. fast test works that way but without a discharge at the end.
This is a great review. I recently saw this while watching jehugarcia's videos and these features you describe seal the deal. I never had a charger that I felt I could trust NOT to damage batteries or cause a fire, so I just ordered the Lii-500. This gives me confidence that I can separate the wheat (good batteries) from the chaff (bad batteries).
RewMe, thank you for reviewing this in English. Helpful! I gave your video a thumbs up!
+lanceguilin thanks :-)
+RewMe mine arrived today. it took 50 days for some batteries to arrive to me in the USA so I decided to buy via eBay from someone in China that ships much faster. I ordered last week. they shipped out same day. I received today. i tested it already. I like it. the most useful feature for me is that it tells you the duration of charge and how many MA charged. that is very important to me. thanks again for English review. cheers!
+RewMe what I meant in previous msg is that it took 50 days to arrive from GearBest. way too long
I can’t get the difference between fast test and nor test? Is it same?
I have another question. If battery resistance is high then is it safe to charge in 1000mAh? I see Miboxer has an auto feature that delivers current based on internal resistance. Can you clear thjs to me? And which charger will be good ? Miboxer C2 4000 or Liitokala ?
This charger is not capable of high-current charging, if you have 3000mah cell and are charging it at 1000ma, then it's still only 0.3C, high-current charging means 1C and above.
Thanks alot ! Couldnt find english review. This helped me decide :)
So will this charger recondition batteries by draining the power to the proper level and recharge batteries to fix memory issues and get the most out of batteries?
hey? just wanna ask... when you charge a li-oin battery (3.7V 3200MA) do the battery's temperature rise? in the sense that you can be burnt? And on the Nor test... is there a situation where the voltage stops at 4.22V and last for morthan 45-2 hours???
please reply i need some answers...
Hello guys, Anyone can explain why is this test called NOR? Is there a logic behind like NOR gate or?
Cool charger man, I got 1 here
Hi if I want to make a battery test and the battery have 3000mah how can I do it on this charger when the currant on this charger is the higher 1000mah ? Thank you
I am trying to decide between buying this one, the Foxnovo F-4S, or the Opus / Floureon BT-C3100. Which one is best for measuring an accurate capacity? I already have a Nitecore D4 for simple (smart) charging.
+TechTuners The opus has the most features but it doesn't use cc/cv to charge it uses pulse charging i think constant current and constant voltage is a better charging algorithm
Hi. My old charger had a refresh function. Would running fast test or Nor test a few times be the same as refreshing? Eneloop AAs. cheers
there is mistake: NOR test is not doing what you said. Instead it's: 1. Charging to max 2. discharging while measuring capacity. And I know, the instruction has mistakes.
Thank you so much for this review and tutorial. Keep up to good work! =)
+Tango965 I'm glad that i could help ! :) thanks a lot
+RewMe I just receive this charger. How do i revive a dead 18650 from this? The specification says "battery activation from zero volts'
Tango965 I think you just need to put in batteries and let them charge
***** yes. i did that too.
***** its never dead. Managed to revive it.
Thanks for the review. I just bought this device recently but it only shows the USB logo on the screen display when I plug it. Does it mean there is a default with the device and I should return it?
It shouldn't be like that, i'm still using mine it works as charm
can you tell me the size of the DC-PLUG that is used on this device?
I test around 1000 cells(2150ma), the result around 120 of them where below 1000mA, I was thinking this are trash. For some reason I check these cell again and some of them keep below 1000ma but another ones where around 2000mA, do you think I'm doing something wrong.
It's not where it's were.
Nicely expained ! Thanks a lot!
Glad you liked it
Is there any visual indication when the cell is fully charged?
If theres 4 cells in the charger with the display set for slot#1 is there any visual indicator that shows that slot#4 is full?
Or we have to check each slot individually to see if it shows full (end)?
+Hammer Joe There is no visual indication :( you need to check manually sadly ...
It will indicate "END". I have this charger for 2 years now and it work great.
Yes or not, it depends, if you select manually the 4 channel it will be full if you see a black rectangular indicating: END but you won't see it if you have selected any other channel.
It can fit 4 20700 batteries at the same time?
Thank you for your very informative video! Can this device charge 21700 batteries please? I can't see this type on the specs but it seems it can hold bigger ones so I would assume it can charge 21700 as well.. please let me know when you have time. ☮️
I have a question. If the adaptor used to operate the charger is 2 Amp, how is it possible to charge 4 batteries at 1 Amp, isn't a 4 Amp charger required?
teratonexplosion the adapter is 18v @ 2A = 36W. Charging is at 4.2v @ 4A = 16.8W
@@evannguyen The factory adapter is 12v 2a = 24 watts
for more security I would put a source of 12v 5a
so I could load in the 4 slot to 1A relaxed
12 V 5 A = 60 watts
4.2v lithium (4.2v X 1A X 4 slot = 16.8 watts)
NiMH 1.48v (1.48v X 0.5A X 4 slot = 2.96 watts)
Because the charger has an inbuilt inverter (buck-boost) circuit. An inverter circuit can output currents which are higher that the input current but at lower voltage. Kind of like an AC transformer but for DC.
Nice video. I am thinking of buying this charger. But there's a question. Can you please tell me how do I understand when the battery is full ?
It displays on the LCD as END text when full. 😉
Thanks for the review. But, how do you know which current to choose?
+Harald Six It's quite simple, more current = faster charging = reducing battery life . BUT keep in mind that its nothing major and newer batteries do well with faster charging :)
Thanks!
Handy rule would also be to go with 1:1 the battery mah max or half of it for nice and safe charging. Like not pressing 1000mah rate into 500mah AAA, do 300mah for those.
Yu need closeups display panel, its functions and channels
Hello, is this charger same as Nitecore? Which one is better? Does nitecore detect battery capacity?
+Kketansa Arti didn't test it so its hard for me give you good answer :(
ohh, ok :)
Thank you :)
The Nitecore does not seem to have Battery capacity detection. I checked many places, doesnt mension anywhere atall.
Markus Bates
Ohh, thanks. I got the Lii500 that has the testing capablity. But I also needed a quicker than quick method to check it for my new cells. I shall do the same, thank you for suggestion :))
*****
Hello It does not have 'only' discharge function. But it discharges battery while doing the tests.
*****
Ok. oh forgot :D
Thanks for telling.
Cheers for the review, just had mine arrive yesterday. Am I correct in thinking that fast test and nor test does the same thing, drain and recharge your battery allowing you to read the true capacity only being that the fast test does it quicker?
Cheers
Rich
+Richard Jones Well fast test discharge and then charge battery ( and do it faster) but nor test discharge - charge then discharge again... And it's more accurate
After some time using it i can recommend fast test if you just want to know if is battery ok in general (capacity) but for more accurate testing nor test is way to go
Ok cheers, that makes sense :)
:)
+RewMe I find really dead batteries give false readings with fast, like anywhere from 200mah to even normal capacity if left in long enough, I think trickle starts to kick in if left on over night, i got 1600 for an AAA once on fast test, on NOR it just gave a zero, it was dead lol
Normal Test: 3 phases (This test best done with a near full cell to save time)
P1 - Charge cell to maximum
P2 - Discharge cell. In this phase it records the mAh used up. This is the more accurate of the 2 test methods.
P3 - Charge the cell to Maximum.
The END icon will flash during the recharge, but the mAh displayed will remain the same. Once the END icon is solid, the cell is fully charged.
Fast Test: 2 Phases (This test best done with a near empty cell to save time)
P1 - Discharge cell
P2 - Fully charge cell and record the mAh put in. When finished the END icon will be solid.
While less accurate for capacity, it will give a good indicator of a cell's current capacity. And can be used if you are re-charging a flat cell anyway, as it takes only little longer to discharge a flat cell before the charge phase.
can i use 12v 3a or 5a power supply?
for more security I would put a source of 12v 5a
so I could load in the 4 slot to 1A relaxed
what does the 45mr stand for
Internal resistance of a cell, you can use that to match similar resistances so a set of cells charge / discharge at the same rate.
Man can u say me, Does liitokala charges D size batteries?
+Boban Pavlovic i think no
+Boban Pavlovic If not, amazon sells a AA to D adapter that allows you to put a D battery into the adapter to charge it. Goes for around $5.
It will attempt to charge D size, and do so, but it will not reliably terminate charge on a battery with such a high mAh capacity since it can only charge at 1000mA max. Combine that with the fact that if you try to use an adapter that lifts the cells out of the charge bay slots, if they start to overheat from not sensing end of charge Delta -V drop, then the thermal sensors won't register it.
I wouldn't try it, D size batteries cost a lot. Frankly I would sooner just use AA charged in that, as 2 x OR 3 x AA to D cell adapters which are only a buck a piece on eBay and some Chinese merchant 'sites.
i have it, good charger, but not very stable battery holders, if you move them a bit -you may lose data of capacity because it will reset. I understand that it was made to fit bigger batteries too but as i said -careful not move batteries during charge :D if you monitoring mAH
+Tomas Av. Well thats true they can move if you move charger carers, but personally i never had a problem because when i move it i take care to not shake it alot :P
+RewMe im not moving ether im just saying that battery grip is not very good and they usually are not straight 90' angle but more like 100', so lets say trying to add new battery when there is already other batteries-you may move the one who's already long time charging -and it will "pop out" and lose data :) But ye - if careful-there is no problems, but with other "smart" chargers i did not had this problem. Lets say Nitecore D4.
+Tomas Av. Ah,I just use my fingernail to pull the holder back to release batteries, there isn't enough space to just pull them out via the battery.
I use one of those plastic spachulas that are added in with mobile screen replacement kits, like the one used to play kitar with. Can get the the tip in between and pry it out without moving others or damaging anything.

Liitokala = flyfish in finnish.
charging those small batteries at 1Ah is too much!
and yes you're definitely right about that.
@@carlnikolov 1A is assumed to be 1AH to non nit pickers...

review, where?
more like I will show you a product and crudely demonstrate it..
at no point do you review this product and test if it's a good product and is accurate and how it stacks up against other products and what kind of cycle charging it performs..
YT, pls stop putting this crap in my feed..settings, not interested don't recommend it..now hopefully algorithm will take notice

It is a old review
Good enough for that time

Hi. My old charger had a refresh function. Would running fast test or Nor test a few times be the same as refreshing? Eneloop AAs. cheers
@doug mayer in NOR test, when discharging it shows "mAh used up" you mean If I had a 18650 battery with initial 3400mAh and say, it's 5 years old and gone through a few hundred charge cycles, the test will show me difference between the initial 3400mAh - current mAh right?or it just shows me what mAh is left in the battery? by the way what's left in the battery doesn't mean the actual capacity of the battery because once charged again, the battery should be able to hold more than what was left.
in other words, "mAh used up" is that mAh that can't be retrieved again, it's kinda gone forever right? say a 3400mAh battery now recording 3000mAh right?
All these said, why do I need a NOR test? when Fast test discharges and charges and tells me the current capacity of any battery which ladies and gentlemen is what matters any way, so why the hell do I need the NOR test for? just to justify spending twice the price of a Xtar on some Liikala to get some function I don't need? explain it to me like I am a 5th grader please.
