- teenage mutant ninja turtles ,4 brothers but in what order, we know leo is typically the oldest and mikey the youngest, but what about the middle two. Not to mention different iterations of the turtles have different age orders. so in this video I try my best to create age orders for each version of the turtles and end the debate of raph vs donnie once and for all

I always thought Raph was the 2nd oldest due to his dynamic with Leo and I refuse to believe otherwise

Fr, I will never see Raph as the younger than Mikey or Donnie. I also used to think Raph and Leo were twins so it only made sense for him to be 2nd oldest
I pretty sure Don was made the leader in TMNT (07) because of his maturity and personality not his age. There is a scene in the movie where Raph threatens Don and Don gets scared, a typical younger sibling response from an older sibling. Also Raph being younger than Don (in general) ruins the whole Leo and Raph dynamic as it makes Raph always second to Leo which leads him to feel an inferior complex. For the Leo vs Raph dynamic to work, Raph has to be older than Don, otherwise it makes it seem that Raph "skips" Don to be upset with Leo. Honestly, the order should always be Leo, Raph, Don, Mike as it fits with all of their personas. Leo is the oldest and gets to lead his younger siblings, Raph is second (always upset that he can never live up to his slightly older brother), Don is third (the quiet, but brillant middle child), and Mike is the youngest (carefree).
Preach, I also prefer Raph second. It seems a lot of the time they make Donnie second is because they think more mature = older. That being said even if Donnie is slightly older he would probably still get intimidated by Raph (bro is intimidating) and I guess the Leo dynamic would just be Raph vs the leader rather than the whole always second thing (with the latter being cooler)
Look if you mean raph is second to Leo as in age then yes usually Leo’s older but as leos better than him yeah no. I feel Donnie being older then raph honestly isn’t a problem as he has a problem with Leo because of him being a leader. Plus raph never feels inferior to Leo.

Raph isn't jealous, he's a loner. Also, Donnie was never a leader.

I disagree a good leader always need an enforcer. Someone who can push them and the group to be better. Ralph is always challenging him making Leo in turn improve plus an Enforcer make sure the team follows order. Donnie is more like the Engineer of the group. Someone who is better behind the scene.

Cause I’ve seen segments where Raph doesn’t just bully mikey but he also bullies donnie at times too for being a smarty pants which gives off older brother vibes
Younger siblings pick on their older siblings for being a Nerd as well. It comes with being a Nerd 🤓.

guys are naturally competitive by nature so in a household with only brothers it would make more sense for Raph to be older and naturally act more dominant towards both Donnie and Mikey
also Mikey already bullies or annoys donnie at times too so doesn’t that count as a younger sibling bullying older sibling dynamic
@Jinaria101 I've seen Donnie hound Mikey, not the other way around. And I've seen the older sibling get bullied by the younger one plenty of times, especially if the older one is a Nerd 🤓. So it goes both ways. You don't make up the majority. And I can tell you that as an older guy going to the basket court playing with, or against a younger generation I was considered silly because I'd act like I was the youngest of them all, being the Mikey of the group. Being the middle/youngest member of my step, and younger siblings.....we don't need to talk about that 🤫. Just know that i am the black sheep.

It’s a fun debate.
But I live with Leo, Donnie, Ralph and Mikey. I think Ralph being younger and rebelling against age order THAT strongly fit him more.
I refuse to believe Rise Leo is older than Rise Donnie, I simply refuse. He just gives me those little brother vibes.

Glad that someone actually tries to figure out who is the second oldest. Also, the toy line never did them any justice when it came to their age, especially in the early years, but it partly gets remedied in the Rise series when Raph is the oldest and Leo is the second oldest.
Nickelodeon stays pushing the Raph agenda
The toyline did though at least the 87 line did. The 87 toyline had the turtles in different ages. Leo, Raph, Donnie, then Mikey. Also the 80s cartoon had an entire episode dedicated to Mikey’s birthday specifically in season three.
That makes no sense Ralph being older than Leo makes no sense. Ralph gives off Jason todd energy
To me, Leo-Donny-Raph-Mikey makes most sense because then their respective bandana colors form a nice gradient from blue to orange

I always assumed Ralph was the second oldest behind Leonardo plus he has always gave off second eldest energy.
I remember in an old magazine advertising TNM , that they're all 18 but it doesn't confirm what age, and for rise donnie and leo are the same age with them being the " twins " of the show and despite the sources, it's implied donnie being older than leo , since people pointed how in a short we're they're shown as turtle tots , raph and donnies chest plates ( I know they have a scientific name but I dont know it) being more developed and pronounced than leo and mikeys chest plates which are flat.
I cant wait for the new incarnation where mikeys is the oldest and master splinter is they're uncle twice removed.

It is not really implied Donnie us older in show. In show Leo comes across as the older one esp. with being one of the more likely to act as impulse control (esp, Donnie) and to use common sense. Up there with Raph, who is the eldest.
As for that thing from the short. That Durant really imply Donnienus older either. People development and different times snd tgey are different kinds of turtles. It could also just be the drawing them that way fit looks reasons. That short also weren’t made made by the OG creators. And I sometimes take stuff from the IG creators with a grain of salt, so I might do so even more by non-OG creators. I still liked that short though.
And like I said in another reply, even though I do also take stuff like this with a grain of salt sometimes and/or etc. One writer does say Leo in Rise is the 2nd eldest.
It depends on the version. In the IDW comics it's Leo, Donnie, Raph, Mikey. In most versions of TMNT it does switch around Donnie and Raph from what I can tell. I know in Mutant Mayhem Donnie is the youngest

For all I know he seems to come off as the second oldest. Being annoyed by Mikey, indifferent to Leo, passible with Donny, and that one who over concentrates in practice because he has something to prove over Leo. Leo is the most versatile and has the most tenacity, but Raph stays in the gym working and practicing and is arguably the strongest of them all.
The creator of Tmnt 2012 literally confirmed from the start that Don was older that Raph…
Actually, it’s the other way around. An online comic on the Nickelodeon website set before the events of the series confirmed it.

I never understood why people jumped to the conclusion that Raph and Leo were dynamically older, Raphs behavior towards his family gives me everything, but older sibling vibes, age doesn't mean maturity but in my eyes hes just as emotionally stable as Mikey. And from first impressions, if it wasn't for Leo being confirmed to be eldest in mot versions, id think Donnie would be the oldest period, but in this particularl argument i stand by the belief that Raph is younger.
9:27 little bit of an error right here. Earlier in the video you say the order is "Leo Raph Donnie Mikey" in 2012 but this ordering is Leo Donnie Raph Mikey. Other than that, great video! I don't see a lot of people having this discussion on TMNT.

As the youngest of four siblings, Raph, leo, don, and Mikey seems a lot more realistic (at least in my sibling dynamic) based on their personalities. Though I’ll admit that Leo has the older sibling vibe more often than raph in terms of responsibility.

My dad said that in the TMNT 2007 movie the turtles were adults which is why they called TMNT instead of teenage mutant ninja turtles, and calling it adult mutant ninja turtles just sounds weird.I have no idea if this is true but figured I should share it (I love that movie by the way)🐢🐢🐢🐢

Raph - Oldest
Leo - 2nd Oldest (VERY close though)
Donnie - 3rd Oldest (but bigger brain)
Mikey - Youngest
To me the order is and will always be (From oldest to youngest) Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo
With their toyline saying Raph and Donnie are both 15 while Leo is 16 and Mikey is 15 1/2, makes me think Raph and Donnie were maybe intended to be twins in early iterations? Just an idea/headcanon tho

In the art book it sais Donnie in MM was the youngest, and in the show the Mechazoids number of the ages. TMNT 2007 was definately not a 90s film sequal Peter Laird had specified that.

@@FreddyorNot For me I go off of what Peter Laird says specifically in regards to that, that and just many other contradictory things in the film. But I'm definately certain that it was confirmed that in Mutant Mayhem Donatello is the youngest
