  • This is the drive from Las Vegas to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon with a stop at Hoover Dam. The drive was beautiful and took about six hours including the stop at Hoover Dam and a late lunch on Route 66. Enjoy!

Newly built highway 11 now bypasses Boulder City. Almost a stoplight free trip. But, be careful in Arizona, because highway patrol sits in the center median with radar and can pick off drivers in both directions.

Did this trip in September 2018 with my husband. I loved every minute of it despite the heat . I even managed to pluck up the courage to do the Skywalk . Amazing experience .

Planning on taking my parents there from LV. So south rim is gonna be the best destination right? Both my parents are in their late sixties and really will not be walking much or hiking. So south rim will give ya the best views of the gc? And where do u recommend for a cheap nite to stay in overnight at gc? Planning on a 2 day trip one night in gc and one night in Phoenix. Tnx in advance for the reply sir!

@@tonybroderick4808 We ended up doing this trip in one day and we were so tired. Definitely recommend staying overnight - you will get more time to explore and not feel rushed to get back.

If you are disabled vet, you can get a lifetime pass for free admission to all national parks. Just have your appropriate documentation and present it at the gate. I had my wife’s family with me and we all enjoyed the spectacular park.

I and my girl took this trip and it was AWESOME!! best to have a smaller vehicle with a manual transmission or the option to shift gears as the hill climbs can be rough with the thin air but thankfully we were in a KIA soul and was able to to make great timing passing all the cars struggling to make it up the hills and on the way back we did 115mph cause there were no cars hardly and the roads are so straight. Great trip.

Do you know if Catherine Pidgeon & Sophie Limyin have taken this road on their trip to the Grand Canyon in February 2018? The last time that I've seen them it was at Déclick in September 2016. Déclick is a psycho-social readaptation center in Montreal.

If they went from Vegas to the Grand Canyon South rim, there are only two routes and they split at Kingman. One is I-40 to Williams and then north to the room. The other route goes up old 66 to Seligman where you rejoin I-40. Now, if you want to go to the North Rim, it's a completely different route.

Why didn't you just get on I-15, then get on the 215... slowed down your drive going down the strip... typical tourist move!
