Okay, quick history on the Fairey Fulmar: the fighter was born to take on the role of aerial reconnaissance and fleet defence. Due to this, long range and heavy firepower were considered more important than speed and maneuverability, with the British deeming a rear navigator/radio guy necessary. This feature was added in as the Fulmar was expected to fly long distances, especially during nighttime or poor weather conditions, and they weren't expected to encounter major fighter opposition as they're like opponent at the time of design (Nazi Germany) did not possess carriers of their own (we all know how well THAT turned out *cough *cough).
Despite it's inferiority against enemy fighters, the Fulmar would go to be the highest scoring aircraft under the FAA in plane kills, thanks to it's reliability, sturdiness, boom and zoom tactics, and brilliant British fighter direction (this was so good, that even with poorer quality fighters in low number, was able to effectively break up large formations of enemy aircraft which was common place in the Mediterranean). Also, they were recorded to have scored 112 kills for 40 losses while stationed on Ceylon.
PS: I wanted to comment about how with British armored carriers, Val dive bombers genuinely don't scare me, but torpedo armed Kates do. However, I felt like it would be too much to include with the Fulmar lesson.

The Fulmar is often wrongly lambasted by people who have a top trumps style thinking about weapons and don't understand the concept of how doctrine affects a weapon and how a weapon fits into a larger system. On paper the Fulmar was crap but it was a very effective weapon system that fit into a specific larger organisation. It would not have worked well for the US or the Japanese but then again the Zero and the Essex class would have been a disaster for the UK.

At this point, I think it's fair to say the Kido Butai is no longer in existence as a major offensive force and you can start thinking about offensive patrols and maybe even buying a Battlecruiser or the Battleships to form the basis of surface groups and go after Port Blair etc. If Operation C had turned out even remotely like this the War in the Pacific would probably be over in 43-44 and the US would be very very grateful to the RN yeat also incredibly embarresed and a little resentful and History books will be full of questions of why the Hell, did the Japanese commit such large forces to the Indian Ocean and how it lost them the Pacific war. In addition Reddit would be full of idiots saying if only the Japanese hadn't gone into the Indian Ocean they could have won the war etc etc.

Costs around 8 weeks of command points for one. I am going build the light cruiser force up while building airfields along my coast. I think my first target is Burma then port Blair. Blair just has too many air bases in range of it. AI on realistic has pretty much perfect coordination so once you are found everything in range will hit you. My air cap is not that good.
