- The common denominator in the men’s Beaufort, Bedale, and Ashby waxed cotton jackets is Barbour’s unparalleled quality.
Nothing quite compares to an iconic Barbour waxed cotton jacket. Whether it’s your first or your fifth, selecting one is always an exciting, but daunting task. Because the choices are endless, we’ll take a look at the similarities and differences of our most popular men’s Barbours-the Beaufort, Bedale, and Ashby. Common features include a midweight shell fabric with shine-free Sylkoil finish. While the Beaufort is distinguished by a game pouch and full lining, and the Ashby and Bedale feature side vents and a half linings, the real difference between them is in the fit. The Bedale and Beaufort come in a roomier classic fit designed to be used in the field, allowing for more freedom of movement and accommodating more layers underneath. Length matters, and the Beaufort is about 2.5” longer than the Bedale. The Ashby is basically a contemporary version of the Bedale, with a slightly longer fit through the sleeves and a trimmer fit through the body. Once you have the fit down, you’ll be set. Each of these legendary jackets has storm-weathering capabilities, moleskin handwarmer pockets, and warm corduroy collars. Take your time choosing. Whether you pick the Beaufort, Bedale, or Ashby, you’ll enjoy your Barbour for a lifetime: there’s 10,000 stitches in every jacket to ensure that.

I love how that guy was clearly reading a prompter, and you can tell when the prompter went "okay, now smile ridiculously :D" LOL.
Bought my Beaufort in 2003. Still looks impeccable.
Excellent video, thank you!
the poly lining in the Ashby is mental
Hello! Do you ship to portugal?
Can you tell me how long it takes to get there?
Thank you, I'm waiting.
Got the Ashby and it's perfect, a bit slimmer. Looks so good.
Can Lightweight Ashby Waxed protect from +5 or +7 cold ?
Every video I watch of Americans reviewing Barbour jackets pronounce Bedale wrong, it's pronounced BEE-DALE not B'DALE.
The jacket gets its name from a town located in North Yorkshire which is in the north of England.
So I guess what you're saying is that Americans and English people pronounce words and locations differently? Fascinating
@@theamazingempiricist If I went to New York and pronounced 'Poughkeepsie' as 'puff-keep-see', I would be laughed out of town. Because placenames have just one correct pronunciation.
Forgot to mention the Ashby’s internal sleeve lining is polyester. I have an Ashby and just got my tailor to change the sleeve lining to cotton as my arms would get very sweaty, it’s like a plastic bag against your arms
Exactly, made for a brainless generation of new buyer, but mostly because polyester is cheaper to buy on the supplier market than good quality cotton. This is the true reason behind.
Thanks for the idea, I'll be doing the same thing🙌🏻
I’m size small. I ordered size 36 men classic bedale and it was big for me. Do you if kids sizes can fit ? 🤣
What colours are these? Olive?. 🙏🏻
is that Sage or Olive??
Can you tell my always in clothes a lining is maded from poliester? He is more durable but cotton lining is more breathable and can be durable to if quality is ok and much more comfortable.
It’s been 2 years but thought I’d still reply. Cotton is more comfortable but it is a sponge to water and perspiration. In wet or warmer climates, a cotton lining will stay wet longer taking forever to dry. Polyester wicks moisture better and as long as it’s not directly touching skin shouldn’t be too much less comfortable.
I wish you had explained the confusing Bedale zippers!
Great jackets. But man the way people show off these jackets on RUclips is like they just bout a sweet new Aston Martin. lol
What about the Bristol?
What about the border?
My Beaufort was only 1.5 inches longer than my Bedale. Same size (36). The video say 2.5 inches.
Classic or original? What a choice …
You conveniently forgot to mention that both Beaufort and Bedale are made in England, while Ashby is made in Moldova, yet still costs like the first two.
A lifetime? Mine started getting wear holes around the cuffs and sleeves after less than a year and now after two years has quite a lot of holes. I still like it but something seems wrong with the quality
You probably have a fake one with out knowing it, there are so many good fakes out there that look and feel 100% the same but the materials are different and made cheaper so they get holes and rips easier.
U did not buy a Barbour.
Yup, seen quite a few problems these past few years with Barbour's QC and garbo materials being used in the out sourced factories
@@ee1yd yep that will be it. I doubt mine is a fake. Just the way things are quality wise and some design features that contribute to that. Also people hype up Barbour, Filson etc with the "For Life" stuff. It isn't true. They all wear
great classics, totally my taste, BUT I still think that even the Beaufort is too short, I would welcome a longer version, the arms should also be longer, with internal cuffs, and I would welcome some thoughts about a new collar fabric, better suited to extreme climates, inside pockets are also a must, and the lining should also always be true wool tartan (if it is your clan´s tartan, much better!) greetings form wild, wet, windy and wonderful Western Patagonia
you must be like 6'5
Try the Northumberland barbour jacket. It is much longer.
If you need a barbour go to the actual outlet they are brilliant
where can i find the outlet? Thank you for your response.
Bee-Dale
BEEdale please!
A very good explanation video, thank you but just a minor detail. Over here in the UK we pronounce the Bedale "Beedale". No offence, you say Potarto we say Potayto.
Bee-dale not B'dale. You think they'd know this(!)
Alan is correct though.
Sneaking ads onto RUclips
I bough the Ashby. That is one tight jacket on the back when you raise your elbows. Ridiculous for $390. Even when I tried it without lifting the elbows I feel the tightness on the back.
Yea I’m so glad I could go into a store that had every size try them on and discovered that they just don’t make anything that fits me. I’m not even that weird of a body type just tall and broad shouldered. I like British jackets and I have a hand me down AquaScutum that fits. But Barbour and Baracuta only make jackets for short skinny people.
@@voiceofreason2674not true, I'm 1.88m and 109kgs. I have both a Baracuta and Barbour. They both fit fine. You just need to try them on before buying to get the correct size.

Bedale as in BEE dale !, come on yanks try and get something right for once :-)
I say it Bee Daleeee, So what, It's My Jacket I call it whatever I want, Punk.
LOL
Pronounce, Beedale.
Ashby is not made in England unlike the other two
It's BEdale, no BeDALE. Learn your product!
B'dale sounds better. Beedale would sound like an American trying to pronounce it the correct way and failing, although it is the correct way.
Just enjoy the best, and shut up, please. U must Bee a democrat.
@@lakepostell6912 If we are going to bring politics into a video about British wax jackets, then you sound like a bloody Republican... don't be a dickhead.
@@Henryisalegend They all do the same thing, it's like children in grade school
No, it doesn't.
I bought a Barbour jacket from Orvis in Bellevue WA. The salesman was very pushy and overbearing. Immediately had buyers remorse. I would never buy anything from Orvis again and would discourage anyone from giving these people your hard earned money.
or you can stand up for yourself and say no. Don't blame them for doing their job, take this as a lesson learned that you have the power in that situation. Besides, it's as easy as going back and returning. I can't imagine what happens when you're buying a car.
i had the same problem thomas the saleswoman literally forced herself to put it behind the counter for me after i told her multiple times i was not buying it today just interested in sizing
I usually activate my fake phone call ringer, then storm out of the store and say excuse me, I have an Emergency. or just tell them I really don't like the Jacket and that ends that. You can't blame them for you not standing up for yourself. like you said, it's your hard earned money, just say no, you know, like drugs, just say no.
He was very good at selling quality goods. Bellevue snob!
could you not grow a pair and say you didn't want to buy it. god you sound like a whinny eastside soy boy. now run along you are late at dropping your wive off at her boyfriends house.
Unfortunately Barbour lost it's DNA choosing a total scent neutral wax since some years now. What is the reason? Just to please a new "everything neutral" generation! Opinion neutral, sex neutral etc etc.
The scent that is no longer was an integral part of what MAKES a Barbour jacket. I loved it.
I like the ba-dale it looks similar to the be-dale
