Hey Ap I know you probably won't see this but I actually live in HOMEWOOD which is like 35 minutes away from Tuscaloosa and 10 minutes away from downtown Birmingham and I like to fish in shades creek. There's lots of smallmouth, sunfish, bluegill, and even some largemouth
I know that pond with the no fishing unless permission from owner because i live in lexington ky and i pulled a 3.5-4 ponder out of it a few days ago. Awesome that i could see you fish there! The neighborhood you were in was called the colony

You should fish a spot in northwest Tennessee called Gibson County Lake. It's about a 600lake has 13 pound largemouth in it. I caught a 7 about a week ago
You proved that you don't need $400 combos to catch big bass. I fish with a $100 setup and catch big fish and don't have anything break on me or have any problems
ive been using this cheap ass 40$ walmart Abu Garcia black max 3 reel all summer and its been wonderful for me, my $20 walmart rod did snap after like a week tho when i got snagged, went to cabelas and bought a $60 cabelas medium/heavy rod and its perfect,

Yeah I have NO idea what I'm doing with these Florida fish. haha Just moved here in June. No problems catching them back up North in PA though. I'll figure it out eventually. Best of luck!
