This is my reaction to Grotesco - Tingeliin (Swedish Comedy)
In this video I react to more Swedish comedy and satire from Grotesco and their skit and song Tingeliin (Tingeling russian base-lovers remix) from Melodifestivalen 2009

You have no idea how mad the Russian diplomats working in Sweden got after this. It was great!
@@Nubbe999They ended up just giving them vodka and getting them drunk and then they were fine
Amen. Confirmed but these "diplomats" were actually chekists in Russian Embassy, so called podkryshniki.
cant remember the last time the russians had a sence of humour.
Yeah it was top tier trolling for sure 😂
@@Nubbe999, a producer apologized and then the broadcaster retracted that apology. Swedish government had nothing to do with it.
One thing strikes me. The Swedes are so incredibly professional. This was apparently an interlude number in the Swedish final of Eurovision Song Content, yet they bring out the whole artillery of comedians, musicians, dancers and songwriters. And everything served with a smile. They are only 10 million, yet they are always at the forefront when it comes to it. Impressive country.
As i remember it that song was the best one all night... lol
@@Mrjobe_yeah, We wanted to send that one instead of the real winner

And yes, many Swedes thought it was the best number of the competition :)
It wasn't even competing and it would've had 90+% votes.
Yup, for sure!
Definitely would have won everything so good 🎉
This happens alot. The interval acts are almost always better than the songs that compete.
It a bit annoying because many of those songs would be strong contenders in ESC.
@@MrDempmeister Yeah that's definitely true!
This music performance made the Russians so mad their embassy protested and demanded a apology from the producer 🤣
One time chekist, always chekists. The loonies in Soviet Emabassy got a good message. The did not need a mirrow to see their shity faces in.
They seem 2 lack of humor 😅 But many russisans are so stiff, not charmy people 😁
It's a mockery of Russia and President Putin, which lead to massive protests from the Russian Embassy officials 😂

They mostly didn't like mention of Putin and Lenin in the lyrics, was even a russian record label wanted to make a single of the track. But Grotesco didn't sign, when the record label start to demend a write out of Putin and Lenin from the lyrics.
The thing is that this "inbetween performence" outscoped all the competitors of mellodifestivalen!
The rhyme. "...let me see you booty swing, Putin, Russia, rockring"

Funny songnumber played while waiting for the votes in Swedish eurovision competition. If I remember correctly the finals were goin to be held in Russia. They really crammed a lot into this number with ballalajkas, military soldiers, prostitutes, the mafia, it just kept coming. And yes, Grotesco is a surprisingly musical humor group. Russia hated it!
They did say they liked the girls though.
They even made their own version. It was terrible
Thats Melodifestivalen, the contest that deside what song will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest, and I can tell you that Melodifestivalen is HUGE in Sweden, no other country makes such an effort to chose the song.
I mean Russia did put up an even greater effort to not chose a song... actually they had a great song and then, voila special operation in South West Russia, in the previously occupied region of East Ukraine by Anti-Russian Notsees. And then the European nations went, no thanks you're not welcome, and then they gave the win to Ukraine, who had the worst entry in Eurovision History since it was founded. Come on Ruslana's entry in 2006 was a lot better. And let's not forget that Ruslana winning meant we got to see Lordi win in 2007. Rock N Roll Angels, we got hard rock hallelujah...
Hard
Rock
Hallelujah
Hard Rock
HALLELUJAH!
Anyways with the current Ukrainian Dictator, we won't see an end this century to the Bourgeoisie tossing young men to their death instead of fighting themselves.
War is so easy to do in the comfort of flying to the US to beg for more money and military equipment, than it is with missiles raining from the sky.
Russia have invaded Ukraine 2 times 2014 and 2022.
Ukraine is a sovereign nation and not part of Russia.
Since 2022 it's a full invation which Russia put ther full strength into.
Zelenski is a democratic elected leader and despite the war his power is limited.
Putin however is a dictator that is the law and will be Russias absolute leader till he dies or somone else disposes him.
Stop spreading lies.
@@livedandletdieI mean Russia did start the war so why should they get to compete? But I agree that Ukraine shouldn't have won just because of pity votes! But you can't control what people feel or do!
Russian friend of mine laughed so hard he got stomach cramps when he saw this! No, he's not a Putin fan! ;-)
This was the break feature in the Swedish Eurovision selection. The Russians went completely crazy and summoned the Swedish Foreign Minister to the Russian Embassy in Stockholm for a formal protest for mocking the Russian people, they demanded an official apology, called the artists insane and should be executed. Funny thing about the whole thing was that the song was sold in mass editions in Russia Russian people had no problem at all by the song, just Putin and the Russian Troika...
This was a piece of a halftime show in the Swedish competition for European Song Contest and created a minor diplomatic crisis with Russia. They were furious. 🤣 "Tingeling" is btw Tinkerbell in Swedish, probably named the song that without any rational reason at all. 😁
You haven´t listened to "Tingeling the original" - or the other 15-20 songs on Grotestcos Tingeling album (yes it is on Spotify).
Basically it rhymes. And I have for some godforsaken reason listened to the album twice, by own choice (?!)
And the chorus goes:
Tingeling, tingeling
Betyder jag ingenting? (do I mean nothing)
Oh, oh jag ber dig, min älskling ( I beg you darling)
Lägg av med ditt slingeling (stop cheating around - with a word never used for that normally)
Tingeling, tingeling
Var vi bara en fling? ( was I only a short romance)
Eller vill du när allt kommer kring (or do you when everything comes around)
Ha en ring på ditt fingeling? (like to have a ring on your "finger-iling"
@@andreastyrberg7556Just twice?! I bought the effing album. 😄
When the tourists leave Ukraine, one mandatory item on the peace agreement should be that Russia should have this as their national anthem
As far as I remember, this became a hit in Sweden. It's fun when the interval acts become big hits and go on competing for a spot on the radio hitlist 😂
When I first saw this, I thought "This was fun, but the army choir felt a little outdated. It is not the Soviet union anymore."
And then, when Russia hosted Eurovision, what did they have as one of their performaces? A huge army choir...
No, they still look exactly like that. It is both good and bad. Good thing they're still a chaotic bunch, bad they still actually exist.
They were so offended by these hurtful stereotypes, but they also featured like every single one themselves in the finals! Including people dancing in bear costumes
@@dennislindqvist8443 No, they don't. Nowadays, they lie as frozen corpses in a Ukrainian field.
And the war with Ukrane is only Putin trying to bring the old soviet back under one rule again before he kicks the bucket.

Oh, the backlash on the news after this, such good memories
BEST FUCKING MIDDLE ACT IN THE MELODY FESTIVAL EVER! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Agree with you 🙂🎵
@@Leyla7292 No need to agree when you are factually correct
Since this song came along, I haven’t attended a party without this song playing! 🎉
The whole "tingeling" gag is a very long one, building up over several 'episodes' of Melodifestivalen (the swedish eurovision selection tournament). Unfortunately it's very hard to appreciate most things in this if you haven't watched the buildup, and that's if you're being swedish. Not understanding Swedish I'd say you'r perhaps getting 20% at most, but it's still enjoyable :)
The whole Tingeling shebang was a "running gag" pause entertainment all through the Swedish qualification rounds to decide which song we should send to Eurivision. Every qualification was in a different city and they made one version of Tingeling for each city, corresponding to the style of the most famous artist from that city. And then on the finals this number came up and, well... yeah Russia was... not 100% pleased...
Now, THIS is entertainment!!🤣😂🤣
Melodifestivalen is the name of the "local" Eurovision to decide what song goes to Eurovision.
This is so funny because Russia had Eurovison song contest that year and and their middle acts were pretty much spot on what Groresco did 😂
Almost every song that is written by Swedish people is a banger, especially if it's mockery since you definitely can't be mocking someone with a bad song 😂
It was the midshow for the swedish eurovision show that year. it was fkn glorious. I love how they warned our diplomats afterwards.
You really should have watched it with subs, the swedish commentary makes it 10 times funnier
Lol I remember the russians didn't exactly appreciate this homage song. Fkin snowflakes. :D
And yeah the music absolutely slaps, they had no reason to go this hard with a sketch like this but I'm glad they did.
nah just the russian embassy not the russian citizens
I see it more like a tribute that represents everything we LOVE about Russia!
It's pretty often the "middle act" in the "melodifestivalen" is better than the actual contestants and the winner.
For real? 🤔 Why should they do a tribute 2 a dictatorship country❗️Please most part of people in Scandinavia do not love Russia 4 many reasons 🤦♀️
A lot of other country in Europe is much better. German,Spain,
France,Italy,Greece, that's why those countries are popluar 2 go 2 for a vacation.
DJ Trexx is a national treasure😂
This is still one of my absolute favourite middle acts from Melodifestivalen, it's still such a banger, still obsessed. I'm a little bummed that you didn't watch it with subtitles, you miss a lot of the conversation going on but yeah.
This is a swedish classic. Russian television did something similar about Sweden to revenge but nobody saw it outside Russia…lol.
And no one from Sweden would care 😂
Would love to see that!
One of the groups greatest sketches is "Ett kilo mjöl". Truly the peak of swedish comedy.
The part that made even Putin mad was the part "Doswidanja Putin", literaly meaning 'Goodbye Putin"... Plus the other stereotypes mixed in. Well, the russians didn't like us after that. 😂
If I remember correctly that line was meant to be sarcastic since everyone knew Putin was gonna stay in charge even if he installed his puppet Medvedev as temporary president.
This is awesome so premium. That show was even better than the actual contenders HAHA still is to this day Loreen would have zero chance against these.
Hahaha😂 so happy that I got a big laugh near christmas time 🤩wonderful… Please… do more Grotesko😆😃
I remember how outraged the Russian embassy was after this. ♥
It's even more brilliant and funny if you understand Swedish and know the comedy series Grotesco. The song was actually performed as a middle act in a Swedish Eurovision qualifier and the Russian embassy threatened to call home its ambassador.
I will never get tired of listening to this masterpiece and seeing foreigners react to it 💛💙
This made russia go balistic. It was so funny!
It's partially a parody.
That is a real contest, they are performing at 'halftime'.
In short, Melodifestivalen is the swedish contest leading up to Eurovision.
The winner of Melodifestivalen gets to represent Sweden in Eurovision. :)
What really made this hilarious was the reaction from Russians😂 I'm old enough to remember visiting the USSR, and right after that era ended in "young new Russia" (think airport security smoking cigarettes and asking "Do you have GOLD in suitcase?!" with stern faces, awkward silence, and breaking down in hilariois laughter "make fanni, fanni, joke!" 😂) and then seeing the transformation. One of my friends literally has the most cohesive extensive collection of recordings of Soviet and Russian pop music post union ever, and that includes footage, and this spoof could not have been more spot on! It went from Alla Pugachova to a twlve yearolds first impression of 80s synthpop with Ziggy Stardust makeup and the kitchest, gayest most fantastical props and costumes and stuff ever imaginable in no time at all, it's actually a section of nerd-cukture unto its own (some of it with pretty cool music in its own way).
This spoof is so benign that Russians being upset by it really demonstrates what a young sissy is. Imagine Americans being crazy upset by all the stereotypical humor about fat American hillbillies and Hollywood airheads and gangsters? No it's not possible bc stereotypes are part of satire, and if you can't take it with a chuckle you're not adult enough for satire period (of course satire is and always was very dangerous in totalitarian regimes, so thanks for very much driving the irony home).
A zillion and one hilarious skits and songs have been broadcasted worldwide on the Orange Mussolini of the west, but a "tingeling" poke at Russia hosting Eurovision makes actual Russian officials go ballistic, hahahaha 😂how's that NOT the funniest thing ever?? 😂
This was actually the best song in the show that year, too bad you couldnt vote for it! I feel bad for the ones going up on that scene after this performance!
A few more things that will give some more context:
- Grotesco has a sketch (more like, an entire episode) where they parody an unspecified american drama film and throughout the entire thing they do intentionally incorrect but american-sounding English as dialogue. You can still understand it mostly, its just wrong.
I dont speak russian, but I am pretty sure they are doing some of that in this song too - singing russian-sounding words with some actual russian thrown in.
- two of the actual russian things thrown in are "goodbye Putin" and "cheers, Lenin"
- The "national anthem" they burst into briefly at one point is even the old Soviet National Anthem
- the music that plays when the Prisiadki dancers (the ones that dance almost like Riverdancing(?)) is an old russian melody made famous through its inclusion in the (originally) Russian-made game Tetris.
- another funny thing about the diplomatic incident this sparked is the interview where one russian spokesperson primarily cites the reason of including a dancing bear into the mix as "perpetuating a stereotype from the 90s" where apparently russian mobsters used to keep pet bears and train them to dance or something? Its funny that they chose that thing to mention in the interview lol
If i recall right the swedish PM was summoned to the russian embassy to explain this top tier mockery.
I mean I'm pro-russia, but even so Tingeling goes Russia is a great parody of Russia, and while it's pretty lame nowadays, when it first came out it was absolutely hilarious.
A Swedish PM (or any PM for that matter) cannot be summoned to any embassy at all. Where did you get that from?
"You see in Sweden, we have this thing called humor" (said with thick swedish accent)
😂That's not how it works. Don't you think, that it was the Swedish ambassador in Mockba, that was summoned to the Rusky ministry of foreign affairs?
Christer Björkman that the Russian boss talk about in the beginning is a legend in the Swedish Melodifestivalen. He has played a huge part in organizing the event. And was also hired by US, when the arranged a similar music contest than Eurovision Song Contest.
They just flipp the bird in the Ruzzian face =)
The adding of the national anthem is kinda made funnier because it's one of the first swedish memes that got huge late 90s early 2000s, basically someone just badly translated what the rusdian national anthem sounded as in swedish.
"Tell him heidi looks like a tv-antenna" etc where some of the "translation".
There was also another classic called "ansiktsburk" (face jar) that I think was another poorly translated song.
AHAHAHA i do remember that. Don't show Russians that. They get really angry when you do things to their anthem. We would make fun of our own too for laughs. Laughing at silly things is good for you.
You absulutely need to do the next part of Dj Trexx, Grotesco-They will never stop the dance!
This paus-act was actually better than all of the performances in esc this year
This was a serial over all the swedish sub-competitons to chose the eurovision participant, where we followed the guy in the fur hat and his pursuit of success with his song Tingeling. And his was the last episode in the final.
The event was held in Globen, a globe shaped arena that you can see rolling away in Grotesco's The Gothenburg Portal. The funny part was that the Russian contribution wasn't far away from Tingeling.
On Spotify you can hear like 10-15 different versions osv Tngeling.
The fictional story is that Pilman wrote a song in the 70’s called tingeling. (The version they play in the boombox)
And the album has like different versions of Tingeling.
Hiphop, Reggaeton, Britney-pop very nice!
The britney-one sounds uncomfortably much like her btw! But that one was called kachingaling or something? Brilliant 😗👌
I remember this sideact from melodifestivalen, its legendary and everyone was going around singing it lol. That year it outperformed the real acts, and that is kind of funny.
Melodifestivalen is basically a multi week competition with several smaller competions spread across the country culminating in a finale where the swedish contribution to Eurovision is selected (I say that, but there have been a few instances where the swedish winner wasnt the one to go to Eurovision for some reason or another) this was the midway entertainment during the finale. It would easily have won that year if it actually competed.
Some context as to why they wanted to mock Russia and Putin in particular. This was 2009, shortly after the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008. And russia had recently introduced some legislation to make life tougher for their LGBTQ+ community... and frankly, you cant have Eurovision without the LGBTQ+ crowd.
Russia tried to censor Eurovision when there was gay contributions, but the Eurovision crew put a stop to that. Either you show all of it, or you dont get to show it at all.
I still think this was the best song that year 🤣Imgine if it was real and they won and sang it in eurovision, I would pay loads of money to see that 🤣🤣 they should do a come back now when eurovision is held in sweeden again
This is not a parody on the Melodifestivalen, this is on the real competition and I loved it! But it is a long story before this happend

I loved how much this annoyed the Russians, haha 😆 good song, very catchy 👍
In sweden we have a televised competition that determines who we'll send to eurovision. This is kinda the half time show.

This is just half of the story. The Grotesco song was featured, in february 2009, as a satiric interval act in the Swedish Song Contest, the show that sellects which song we will send to the Eurovision competition. The previous year Russia hade won and was therefore hosting the Eurovision in May 2009. What nobody knew in february was that Russia had planed an interval act at Eurovison on the exact same theme, but with no irony... ruclips.net/video/o9vaL0QfkxE/видео.html
Love the fact that Russia made a satire song to mock Sweden back after this one. Not nearly as good but still funny. Particularly enjoyed the joke about putting canons on old Volvos in that one. Mostly because it would most likely work perfectly.😂
It's the equivalent of rap battle but instead of rap it's musicals and parodies of each other which is much funnier. Rather have a song dedicated to mock us than war.
What was the name of that one?
@@Mike-zl4kmjust search for "russia invades sweden parody" here on yt. It aged like fine milk with the invasion of Ukraine 😂
I mean, we have basically already mounted canons on Volvos already.

It's not a Eurovision parody. It was an intermission in the Swedish musical competition where the Swedish contribution to Eurovision is selected.

This was a Eurovision interstition. ”Da svedanja Putin”, ”Goodbye Putin” I contained the Soviet anthem and the Tetris game music as asides.
i loved this song, russia was so upset XD
In the intro they say

"Do svidaniya Putin" in the lyrics means Goodbye Putin :P
Grotesco sketches are mostly more subtle and ambiguous. For this number they had to crank up the stereotypes two notches, so everyone, not only the Grotesco-fans, got it. Had it been Russian, it would have been done (much) more professionally (choreography). I do think that this is one of the best intervals that "melodifestivalen" has had.
I did like one of the two hosts propositioning the other hosts wife in a musical number too. Björn Gustafsson was great in that.

You are right, this was a pause number in the Swedish "melodifestivalen" where you qualify to the Eurovision song contest. Massive amount of viewers both live and especially, of course, on TV.
I think what the Russians was most mad about was that a little bit of their national anthem was played in this song 🤪

4:26 yes! It is a parody in the Swedish pre-competition of Eurovision.
I remember when this song was released in Sweden (2011?) and foresaw your video. The Swedish lyrics mimic Russian accent in Swedish perfectly and Henrik Dorsin mimics Swedish Gothenburgian English accent. Dorsin (the bald guy) is a comedy genius.
hahahah briliant!!
Hello. You liked the video of Sven Melander where he interviewed a little girl and asked her what she wanted most in the whole world. There is a very funny comedy about swedes going to Canary islands to celebrate christmas in the sun, you must se it, it is called Sällskapsresan and has english subtitles or dubbed to english and then it is called the charter trip. It contains all the stereotypes of swedish tourists, Sven Melander and his friend are going to Canary islands just to drink cheap alcohol, because alcohol in Sweden is quite expensive, and very cheap in the Canary islands because it is a free trade area, one couple with a photcrazy husband, his luggage contains of cameras and film, two sisters who are only there to pick up men and get a suntan etc. With a little luck you might find the english version online, Good luck.
this wasn't a parody of eurovision, but the national swedish contest to decide the artist to represent sweden in eurovision. it's more important than eurovision itself here in sweden. and sadly this was only an intermission act, that people couldn't vote for, since it was better than all the actual competitors
Yes, and for anyone who is interested, here are a few more bits of trivia about this:
The reason for doing a song about Russia was that Russia, as winners of the ESC (Eurovision song contest) 2008, were arranging the 2009 ESC in Moscow.
And incidently, the song voted to be Swedish entry to ESC 2009 was "La voix" sung by Swedish opera singer Malena Ernman, the mother of Greta Thunberg.
The favorite sketches with grotesco in my mind is :
- ett kilo mjöl , i think there is a subtitled version on youtube,
- niklas och skärpet, sadly no version on youtube
I can´t seem to find the subtitled version for Ett kilo mjöl if it exists in here. Do you maybe know somewhere else it can be found?
