Hey , Loved the way you explain. Just need more tutorial regarding keying. Like How many keys are available that are commonly used like chroma , Delta , Clean plate and other keys. In short , Can you make one / multiple videos where every tools are explained with example.
Although the information is good, i’d really discourage to separate compositing and vfx artist. It’s just like saying there is the mechanic and there is the hammer guy that can only use a hammer, you are always expected to be the full on mechanic even if your task is to use the hammer only. To be a compositor means having all the skills from vfx artist is mandatory and expected of you, it’s pretty rare to have all of those process all separated in departments, and their jobs not always come polished, so you are expected to take control and polish their work if needed
Changing ur background, and vit more camera angles , and expression will increase your viewership ,, Really very informative but try to make fallowing changes,, Will have more reach point.
Very informative, can you expand ont the professions and deprartments, for example, who is responsible to create the general look of titles in a video together with the design of the CGI ? Something like an Art Director of CGI?
Director shares his vision down the chain (involving an art director), where all help him to realize his vision and the overall look, be it characters, environment, titles, etc. Vfx supervisor overlooks and communicates the vfx process, so that all those ideas, which involve cgi and vfx, would be created according to director's vision. Depending on budget and size of the film, many different roles are involved. Depending on titles complexity (can be just a stop motion or complex visuals of vfx and cgi) specific roles are hired to realize the vision.
Hi, I started learning Nuke. My goal is to get a job as a compositor. What other skills and software I need to study in order to land a job as compositor?
Fireball VFX exactly my point, there are amazing vfx artist and compositors who happen to be women. I think they'll appreciate some inclusive language 🙂
Of course not only men, there are nice ladies who are compositors and the new ones are always welcome to raise their numbers. I use "he" as a general term to mention a "person" who is a compositor, it can be he or she ; )
I have one question! What is the qualification for becoming a VFX compositor? I was studying each part of VFX, such as modeling, texturing, rendering, animation, FX and compositing, Actually, I am interested in Compositor, however, I have some chaos... I have no idea yet which part is suited to me... Let me know the qualification for becoming VFX compositor~
The foundation of VFX Artist is compositing, then all other skills around it. If you only talk about compositing, then your qualification is compositing, aka how well do you integrate an element into any shot footage. Learn how to use Nuke and After Effects. Let me know if you meant something else by your question
No, compositor doesn't have to be able to draw. It is a plus for vfx artist though, but not required. It is helpful for advanced matte painting, object removal, retouching and camera projection mapping. But just knowing photoshop basics can be enough.
personally I follow what works best for me, would advice you the same. There will always be someone who is more inclined towards one software, but it doesn't mean it is the only best one software there is. Play around with each one, learn their ways, and follow what feels best for you.
Depending on which career path you are leaning towards. But for a compositor I would say YES - rotoscoping is the first step to start from. Actually, that is what the next lessons will be about - you can watch it here ruclips.net/video/bV4YIjAGfJE/видео.html
@@FireballVFX So how much time is it... a year? I've seen entry job that requires AE only. There were like 5 jobs total on the market an hour ago. So I would assume that I can never get one.
@@maxmagnus777 i would say, if you are interested to be vfx artist, try not to think about how long it will take, as because of the technology and creativity you will constantly be updating your skills and knowledge. Think about getting involved with a journey itself. To have a fundamental skills it might take 1-3 years, depends on time, budget and individual. In regards to an open jobs that you mentioned - check what skills are required and what needs to be done, then learn that skill at first, so that you can dive working as vfx artist straight away. Even if you are not hired for this job, still do the job for youself in order to test your skill and learn how to do it, plus you will have it in your portfolio.
@@FireballVFX well I've run into a strange problem. Entry jobs in other areas like 2D animations require different software, skills etc. My guess is that with vfx is the same. I was thinking mostly on getting into compositing. I've done some 2d, 3d, animation etc. Is it hard to get into?
@@maxmagnus777 it is better if you stick to one skill and be a master of it rather than knowing a little bit of everything. If you want to get into compositing, it is compeltely different skill then animation. Animation is good to know in compositing but it is not the main skill you require.
So many techniques can be covered by one person that it can be hard to distinguish compositor from VFX Artist and CGI Artist. It is true that keying can be a part of compositing. But keying can also stand alone. Each project has its own structure. Chroma key is a process/technique, which can be covered either by a person, who is only specialising in chroma keying, a compositor, or vfx artist. It all depends on your structure of pipeline that you choose and manage, and more. Therefore, you can practically form a department that only does chroma key. I invite you to think of "department" as a "step"/"field"/"sphere"/"area" that accomplishes a specific process or task before you actually composite elements together.
So basically the compositors must have the same knowledge as a visual effects artist so they could blend those elements together and make them look real.
Not necessarily. It is more other way around. The vfx artist must have compositor knowledge. But it is an advantage for the compositor to have that knowledge as well.
As someone indeed lost and unsure of where to start with vfx, these lessons are simply the best. Thank you so much man!!
