1998 was a really interesting year for trance, it was moving rapidly away from Goa into what is now known as Psy Trance. Japanese Label Matsuri Productions was really pushing Psy Trance and many of the tracks and artists on the label have stood the test of time.
Japan started getting great outdoor parties around 98, Enigma productions, Chikuya Vision Quest esp, Solstice and Equinox were the main ones. Some of those outdoor Vision Quest parties were outrageously good. Not sure they could be repeated elsewhere ever. Complete madness.
Do you know for sure this is Tokyo and the 1990s? From the film quality, it could be early 2000s. Is it actually in the Tokyo area or is it just somewhere in Japan? Also, a lot of the tracks sound like (Proto-)Goa trance :) It definitely has more of a psy vibe than a techno one..
Who said this video was made in 1990? Read the title of this video again, it says 1990s not 1990 specifically, also if you had read the video description it tells you that this festival was filmed in 1998
