Hmmm. I used to say that too, for years, until recently I got hands on some unbelievable, fat, Grey "Skulls" in Sydney. They stank of that familiar root beer/licorice/sassafras smell just like the genuine article •• and they hit like a train with true OG lovey, spacey, eye wobbley, skin tingley, tactile , chatty feeling. Utterly amazing to finally revisit the real stuff, it was like I was raving in 2000-2001 again. I don't do it often but def the first pill I've had in 20+ years where I truly wished I'd only taken half 😂. I may have got more and I may be saving them for [very] special occasions over the next few years. Rare find, but yeah, *just occasionally* .. someone actually DOES 'make them like they used to'. It's just that as we get older and do other things with our lives, most people don't have contacts like we used to.. 😘

😊plus in the us at the start of the 90s, we had multiple floors at our raves. happy hardcore/rave techno jungle dnb house/disco and also ambient were normal at warehouse parties.
sumtimes youd get the octfecta and got dub/reggae or hip hop (strictly east coast jazzy) floors. all at one party. 15-20thousand ravers. i will never forget it.

Best rave year for me was 1989, the big illegal raves of Energy, Sunrise and World Dance were the best ever, people now who go to raves now are addicted to their fucking phones and don't live the moment, the most important thing in their life is looking at a a screen all day every day.

I'm 50 now and still alive, good paid job. Still love electronic music and don't do drugs. The rave scene was definitely a cultural movement and a special time. The music was raw and the vibes were pure. Great times. Most of the rave DJs are still around on the drum n bass circuit. Carl Cox is a super star DJ at 61 and still doing his thing. I remember hearing Coxy live on 3 turntables, now that was something really special.

I once took so much MDMA I hallucinated everyone in the room was wearing sunglasses, lasted for an hour at least. No one was wearing sunglasses at all!

The 90's rave scene was certainly something. I'm glad we all (90's generation)had the chance to experience times like these. The millennial age knows nothing about having fun like this. It was falsehood but it was fun. At least people were social, cordial, & knew how to have a good time with one another. Definitely some good times, good music, & good memories.

As an older Millennial bordering gen X, I remember sneaking into these with my older cousin when I was in my early teens! I took a half pill with a smiley face on it and wow!!!!! was that so cool! We all danced for 9 hours straight until 5:30am 😂 … luckily I knew even at that age that something so good was too good to be true and never took anything like that ever again. Definitely one of those things that’s cool to try at least once.
At one point i was doing it every weekend, too much fun. Now i have responsibilities the next day 😢
