Actually it started at around 7 am if memory serves as the popo had busted so many venues.We drove several hundred miles only to find that it was a few hundred metres from the drivers house,in fact one of the old runways from the aerodrome ran right through their back garden.It was Energy at Raydon and the witch hunt in the local villages afterwards was nearly as much fun as the rave.I guess the parents weren't impressed getting woken at 7 am by a sound system that could be heard miles away.

The was Energy's Dance 89 party at Raydon Airfield in Suffolk on 23rd September 1989. The party didn't get going until after 5am after the original venue was busted at the last minute, this was the back up - the party went on all that next day in blazing Sunshine - 15000 in attendance.
Right early at the start. A few short Yrs in.. I was going to local events from 88. But didn't start doing across Country until 91 due to no transport. Loved that time the more I look back with fondness.. Hope to see myself again some day.. Did see myself at a raindance upload,looking very sweaty and knackered. Lol. Great times. Great unity. Make no mistake - these weren't free parties... Energy/Sunrise/Biology etc all charged between £20 to £30 a ticket, which 30 years ago was a lot of money - particularly when there was no guarantee the party would actually go ahead without Police intervention. Certain people like Tony Colston-Hayter made a lot of money very quickly.. some were good guys, other not so... But with tickets at £25, pills at £15-20 each etc in 1989 raving wasn't the free and easy affair that's possibly portrayed here.
Love the Renegade Soundwave track.. took me decades to re-discover. Thanks to Live 105 FM (KITS) in SF,CA for playing that track..late nights on those mix shows

One thing I remember from this is the baggy clothes that were the fashion, the Global Hypercolour t-shirts, the fluorescent colours, the psychedelic patterns. That and the cars in the field.. Chevette, Granada, Sierra, Escort, Rover SD, Cortina, Capri. All long gone! Oh well!
E30 for me! Surprises me how many people turn up in Nova GTEs and the like in vids like this. They weren't exactly cheap as chips to buy or run back then.
