I'm 50, and also enjoyed the scene, it was incredible and never has that feeling of togetherness existed since those times (1987-1993). I stopped going out in 94, it was just too commercial, with huge dance promotion companies all jumping on the bandwagon, the true spirit was gone.

Actually it started at around 7 am if memory serves as the popo had busted so many venues. We drove several hundred miles only to find that it was a few hundred metres from the drivers house,in fact one of the old runways from the aerodrome ran right through their back garden. It was Energy at Raydon and the witch hunt in the local villages afterwards was nearly as much fun as the rave.I guess the parents weren't impressed getting woken at 7 am by a sound system that could be heard miles away.

Make no mistake - these weren't free parties... Energy/Sunrise/Biology etc all charged between £20 to £30 a ticket, which 30 years ago was a lot of money - particularly when there was no guarantee the party would actually go ahead without Police intervention. Certain people like Tony Colston-Hayter made a lot of money very quickly.. some were good guys, other not so... But with tickets at £25, pills at £15-20 each etc in 1989 raving wasn't the free and easy affair that's possibly portrayed here.
