Frankie Goes To Hollywood & Lemmy (Motorhead) - Relax (TV-show 1984)

- Опубликовано: 16 авг 2009
- A TV-performance of their big hit "Relax". In the end we see Lemmy of Motorhead entering the stage, not with his bass guitar, but a Telecaster guitar. But he quickly becomes more interested in the female dancer on the stage.

Lemmy was always the true friend and gentleman, stepping in for Frankie to kindly help the dancer off stage.
Last place you woud expect Lemmy, but you know, God is everywhere!
Beavis: "What is Lemmy doing in this video?" Butthead: "uhhh, it's Lemmy. He can wander into any damn video he wants."
amen
Spit mydrino put when reading thatthanx!
Well, if you go to Hollywood there is a good chance you'll run into Lemmy...
Wondering why the dancer is wearing so much more than the one with Hawkwind
His gay period !
Massively under rated as a band. These guys were all stellar. Especially Otoole on the bass.
Lemmy still with the power to make me feel like I have had my drink spiked and reduce me to a giggling mess by cropping up in the most unexpected places.
What an absolute badass legend.
Being a teenager in 1984 was such a blessing.
Yes it was. And I lived in that same city they recorded that video. Bremen, Germany.
Amen!
@@UserUli Was it all sex and drugs like it is portrayed in movies?
That's when music was MUSIC!
It was the best
As a fan of both Frankie and Motorhead it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing this collab happened.
Lemmy took it all home, and finished it.
Right??? 👏👏👏
Spot on.
The collab: lemmy comes half a minute and walks away with the bombshell.
Helluva collab hehe.
@@a.m8878 People are out of their minds looking for reasons to justify their existence... it sounds childish at best, pathetic at worse. I bet the band and Lemmy made less fuzz about this than the comment.
Lemmy whispered in the hot blondes' ear "he's into lad's love, come with me"
YEPP, 😉
Greatt song thought!!😜
And she responded.. I’m into lasses so forget about my ass!
Neon lights, hot girls and a lot of smoke...this is so...'80. I love it 👍😀
Now we're fuckin old
@@garyroberts1496 Yeap...maybe...but you are old as you feel
I think Lemmy was watching in the wings & moved in for the kill like a legend!
Or like a reptile?
@@SpookyElectric319 You probably already knew this: I was making a reference to his song "Love Me Like A Reptile" -- but yes, a legend for sure! 🤘🤘
A real classic old 80s pumper that never ever grows old at all it just still shines like a beacon..........
The craziness of the 80's!. You certainly wouldn't get away with this on the box nowadays!. Lemmy and Frankie on the same stage!. Naughtiness abounds!.
We need to get back to these times
Well, they were all part of the punk/post punk scene... elsewhere, many joined hands in similar intriguing combinations... (pre)ABC's Martin Fry for example co-wrote a song with Clock DVA, The Jesus And Mary Chain sang with Erasure (TG/PTV/Coil supremo Sleazy directed videos for Erasure), Eurythmics recorded with members of DAF, Can and post-TG era Chris & Cosey, Pre-My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult's Groovie Mann sang in pre-Cocteau Twins' Simon Raymonde's band The Drowning Craze, while in her pre-fame days, Madonna reportedly had a short-lived no wave band with some of the original founder members of Swans (according to Thurston Moore)... Whitney Houston sang with Material a few years before hitting it big time, ... we name it, there they were.
The 80s were crazy? I don't remember it that way.
Lemmy escorting the fine lady off stage with a wry smile on his face, great stuff...........RIP the legend.
Not exactly how I pictured Lemmy entering the stage! Was great to see him, and of course he never disappointed! And the young lady was just up his alley!
That band always put tons of energy into their performances!
Hit me with those lazer beams
⚡️⚡️⚡️ how about Saturday night at 9 PM eastern standard time? 😮 😂😂😂
Cool video. I never would have ever ever ever thought Lemme and Frankie would be in the same place. 👍
Thank you RUclips Algorithm Gods for placing this in my recommendations. I never knew how much I needed to see this.
What a lovely view of heaven.....
I went to reading rocks in 1986, when i got out of my tent one morning, lemmy and rat scabies were sitting with my mates having a cuppa, really nice guys. cheers
Lemmy knew she wasn't Holly's cup of tea and went for it...😂👍
I know everyone is talking about Lemmy but can we mention how much energy the whole band put into this performance? Amazing.
They are miming.
@@pgj285 Doesn't mean they didn't put a fuck ton of energy into it.
Amazing! It sounds just like the recording and with no keyboardist. :)
LoL.
It's the magic of live!
Who knew that it was a bass guitar all along!!!🤓
Nothing really. Shocking Blue managed that over a decade earlier, no keyboardist and only one guitar. Amazing stuff.
I can't believe there was a whole-ass plot to that AND IT WAS FREAKING HILARIOUS
Lemmy such a class act. Gotta love the guy.
A bit more context here: FGTH consisted of the two gay frontmen and a bunch of pub rockers called The Lads, who were very much into women. They came from Liverpool and survived the tough 70s and 80s there as an S+M endorsing show act, a fact Lemmy definitely would have respected. Lemmy spent a lot of time in Liverpool in his youth and saw the Beatles perform at the Cavern in 1963. According to his autobiography he had much more respect for them compared to the Stones who he said were mommy boys from the outskirts of London, whereas the Beatles came from a hard sea-faring town and stood up to the roudy crowds there. One of Lemmy´s closest friends was Rob Halford, who outed himself as gay in 1998. It´s pure speculation on my part, but I can imagine Lemmy did not only feel sympathetic to the members of FGTH but also to their message of free love and peace.
makes sense

One of the best memories of my music journalism career was interviewing Motorhead at an LA hotel. Lemmy was, the only term that fits is tender. He was really concerned I got a good interview, just amazingly gentle and not at all what one might expect. There were rumors that he was bi-curious, I don't know, but for sure a full-scale human.
Explains the Drummer...
Harry Enfield Scouser!
Lemmy was an icurable Liar too!
Aaaaah yes so nice "Relax" 80 ,s music 🎤💖😎
I love how Lemmy sneaks offstage with the woman at the end like... I'm guessing you guys won't be needing her. 🤣🤣 Good guess, Lemmy!
Only Holly and the other singer/dancer are gay. The other boys are straight.
‘It’s alright, lads, I’ll take her off yer hands...’
@@Timmybear haha ok
Those Frankie guys did really well not to be distracted by a semi naked lady wandering around the stage. Total professionals.
I see what you did there.
Only the two singers were gay. The drummer and guitar players were straight
We miss you Lemmy.
Love how Lemmy run off with the woman...fantastic...legend
I am sure Lemmy is saying "Lady I am going to take you away from these Pooftahs!"
Lemmy, probably the only guy there to appreciate the lovely ladies charms!
Legend - and now you can see our days, now in the 2000er Years are much more victorianian and prissy than that century - I am so happy the 80s have the age of my youth and not the nower days
This band got to No 1 in TOP OF THE POP music chart in Uk in 1984 for over 8 weeks in the summer and The BBC broadcasting got lots of complaints from people all over Uk for the outrageous music
And a DJ, Mike Reid, actually banned the song on his show. This led to a tense moment on a kids TV show, where he had to share screen time with them.
Damn that was epic. Lemmy was just too bloody cool.
3 days away from turning 52 , and I am huge fan of Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Lemmy Kilmister. Got to meet Lemmy way back when my friends from school/work were just discovering the Hard Rock sound when I was listening to that type of music in the womb because of my mom's tastes in music.
Happy birthday..
And in the end lemmy walks of with the girl, classic lemmy 🤘🏾
Lemmy just couldn't let a bird in lace go to waste.
Lemmy was clip bombing to the max! Classic!! :-D
👏👏👏 Excelente archivo!!! Siempre pensé que era un tema de Durán Durán... pero leí en la BIO de Lemmy y acá está ésta joya de los 80 🤘🎙🎸🎹
Really
To say that German TV wasn't as concerned about the songs controversy as much as the BBC seems to be a bit of an understatement here!
The whole controversy has the air of a staged event about it. You mean nobody in the entire staff of radio one had a clue what the lyrics were about (in the light of savile) until the song was about to peter out at number 2. Especially Mike Reid?
German media has more problems with violence than sex.
If the had researched, they would have had dancing guys next to the band... ;o)
They just didnt understand. Greetings from Germany that is now as fucking politically correct as Britain is.
Just look up Michael Zager Band, Let's all chant and the Musikladen Gogo girls.
Then you might understand German TV never was that concerned.
I love it!! Lemmy is so smooth!!
I thought I'd dreamed that performance. I saw it at the time and then never again. Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not mad. Raising a glass of Jack and coke for Lemmy, hoping that he's not giving the devil too much of a hard time.
oh, he is...and good for him!
That's one Happy Relaxed Marshall Amp There !
Lemmie was putting it to that young woman 5 minutes after the set ended, what a dog he was. RIP
RIP to her too... Kirsty MacColl.
Fun fact: There was no Motörhead appearance in the show. But Lemmy posed as playback guitar player for Kirsty McColl some minutes before. 😁(You can find the clip on YT)
rofl. Yep, Lemmy filling in. 😀
Ja! Das ist eine scharfe Nummer!
FGTH und Lemmy...
Eine sehr gute Kombination..😉
Love that song, used to be a pirate radio station near me in the 80's, they used to play this song about 5 times in an hour, I'm guessing they didn't have many albums. I used to jog to this song, listening to it on cassette on my Walkman, had a driving beat, to help distract you from the discomfort of the jogging. Ah, nostalgia.
That is totally uninteresting! Why on earth do you think anyone here needs or wants to know how you listened to this song?
@@slowery43 Don't read then.Ooops ,seemingly too late.😏
Really? Strange i should come across your comment because my dad worked on a well known pirate station in the mid 80's and he and the other radio presenters used to ALWAYS play this song non stop..i remember them playing it very clear .... If you live in the manchester area...it could be the same sation !
@@RetroReminiscing Station was Lazer/ Laser 558 ,from memory. I'm a little further south than Manchester, strange parallel though........
@@ianhill4585 Oh the station i was meaning was KFM radio in south manchester .....yes ..strange parallel though indeed !! Hope you have a nice evening, take care Sonique 🎶😁
Oh darn it, I was hoping to see a live version with Lemmy doing guest vocals. That would’ve been the best.
I have a suspicion that we're not even seeing Frankie doing a live version here either...
Nor in the studio. Thanks to the session musicians.
Lemmy Goes To Hollywood
See all the live giga of this band on internet they are huge and massive live
They didn't have the ability to play a credible live version.
That song is still rocking discerning dance floors around the world today
His Lemmyness doing the deed.
I never thought I’d see this... thanks for uploading 🤘🏻
Lemmy at the end was like “Come with me love, you ain’t exactly his type anyway”

At least gay people don't get divorce raped
This is why I love the internet
Also with Kirsty Maccoll. She appeared on the same show, and Lemmy mimed with the Telecaster.
ahh was Kirsty the exchange in the swap!
Music's had forty years to get even better than this. No idea how, but it feels like it might have been done by now.
Lemmy Goes to Hollywood! Lemmy says relax!
Didn’t realise how much I loved 80s women,,,,,,,,,damn, so much nicer than today’s plastic puppets😛😛❤️
Real women!
@@LJMLJM740 Yes real women.
30-45 year old females these days are Valley Girls. Even in the Northeast and in Canada. They are not women.
@@junkbox_ Ahahahah!
And they weren’t covered in tattoos either! 👍
Absolute. Legend.
Though, if we're being honest, Lemmy was the only one with ANY real interest in that woman.
no doubts about it. lol
Actually, I believe most of the band were straight. Only Holly Johnson and Paul Rutherford (the two vocalists) are gay.
I think there was some Bisexualities within the Frankie Hollywoods too...
Wonder if FGTH will ever do a proper reunion tour ? I think that's a gig I'd like to go to !
.
Only Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s singers were gay, the other three were straight
Imagine being so close to that woman and being grossed out by her... No I can't imagine it either...
So war das damals - eine scharfe Nummer und Lebensfreude pur
Amazing supershow!!!
Still gets my heart pounding!🖖
Now i'm watching LEMMY with telecaster and Duck walk 🔥🔥
I was 18 just started going to night clubs best magical times ever,
Holly to half naked hot blonde, "Do you have a brother"?
Seriously though, good performance by Frankie.
The title of the video let me imagine a FGTH vs Lemmy combo reprising the hit single with a more Lemmyest twist.
Not disappointed anyway - I love both acts.
ahahah great Lemmy....!!!! and what elegance!!!!!
Damn, the world was so different back then! Good times indeed...
Song of the 80's no question. Hilarious vid😅
The fucking 80's. What a mystery.
Haha ace comment. Yeah it was mate 😅😅
Best decade to grow up in, I was 6-16 in the 80s.

And in the end...
LEMMY GETS HER!
It was quite some years ago now I read it, but in Lemmy's autobiograpy White Line Fever, he mentions that he actually got to be friends with FGTH. I think they might've been on the same record company at the time (?), or something along the line.
As the veteran he was, he made sure to give these young upcoming guys some tips and warnings about the music industry which he saw starting to become more cynical and into quick profit. He noticed big companies were starting to buy up the smaller records companies (in which owners of course wanted to earn money as well, but still were true music fans). Lemmy had many sides to him. RIP Mr Kilmister.
i met King Lemmy in a public bathroom, in Montreal. i saw motion at the urinal besides me, and oh my god it's him. i tried to ease the awkwardness by saying "well, Lemmy, what's the protocol for meeting your hero in a urinal? he just stared ahead and said nothing. so i thought he was to famous to talk to the lkes of me. and when i was washing my hands, he looked at me and said "well mate, it goes without saying that we won't be shaking hands". he invited over to his booth and we talked for 3ish hours. one of the best evenings of my life
Seen the band play in Dublin 1984 or 1985 rds great concert great band , first time I seen a guy wait a dress 🙈
