To anybody who wasn't lucky enough to be around when this was all going on all i can say is this was a proper night out. Looking back it really was something else. Bring that beat back!!
The second summer of love they called it, and my God it was fantastic, I was 19 years old and had the time of my life, this was a time to be young and alive.
Some of those will be grandparents now lol I'm 51 but was clubbing when I was 14, hitting the Northern Soul scene, then the gay scene where 4x4 beats were compulsory and straight guys didn't dance at all - then along came the magic pill and broke down barriers all over. Long live House!
I got nicked putting on a rave back in 89, the old bill drove my van to the police station with my stash in it without knowing, and it was still there when I got the van back. Great times 🙂😉

Jaw going like a mad one, all loved up, sweatin mi bollocks off , monged out of mi head trying to find mi dealer. That`s my memory of the late 80`s. Who remembers Disco Biscuist? 5 quid a pil back then. MDMA pure......
I remember those days when u went to actually dance and enjoy. And everyone kept their cloths on. No slappers with their bikini clothing and EVERY guy had his top ON. We were there for the music and nothing more.
hold me brothers & sisters... I miss those days... they forged me, such joy... years of beats and love and the usual highs & lows... lovely, never repeated, we were there...
wow watching an listening to this actually bought tears to my eyes, i sound proper old at 36 but ""THESE WERE THE DAYS!! No attitude just everyone on a new experience loving it an each other.Im so glad i was part of this revaluation cause thats what it was! My first ever rave was at 13 on a boat on river Thames an i got sold a dud but experience90 was still amazing an i would not change a second of them days for the world!
I only really got into electronic music 4 years ago but i absolutely love seeing these old school raves and the music that accompanied them. To understand the present you have to appreciate the past. Love it
I was 10 in 1988 but remember my brother going to dungeons in lea bridge rd Leyton. I grew up with this music. Love it! Man love the video its like a trip down memory lane. Im sure I heard Big Fun coming in at the end there that would of been just released then. I bet that rocked the fucking house down 10/10 mate definatly 1 for the favorites : )
5 past two in the morning just listened to MAURICE-This is Acid, then stumbled onto this tune was nice I just drifting off and it finished.,,,,,AYE. D. ITWAS MY BIRTHDAY Yesterday YES GUESS What I WAS 49 mad.. CHECK OUT CRITICAL RYTHUM FALL INTO A CHANT... ENJOY,PEACE TO ALL MAY WE BE TOGETHER SOON
I remember that summer 88 I was 10 and we ask our parents to buy acid record at the market to dance on it at home with friends the Wednesday afternoon . We didn't had any idea of the parties going on but years later we discover the first rave in France. I was 15... 🤪
Ho guys, let's mix the issues. New beat is indeed born in Belgium as an evolution of early eighties eurobeats like EBM (electronic body music), Italo disco, Industrial, Minimal wave, etc. All these music styles are born in Europe and most of themindeed in Belgium: New beat and EBM (with pioneers Front242). But indeed in 1988 House arrived from Chicago, Techno from Detroit, Acid from London (after it was also imported one or two years earlier from Chicago, UK is between USA and European continent
Remember all the hype in the news. When Police raided a warehouse it was like nothing they had ever seen before, these kids were in a trance like state, like they were possessed by a higher force. Little did they no the more they tried to ban and disrupt these party’s, the more determined the youth came to make sure it happened. It was like cat and mouse game they shut one place, we moved to another. Was amazing time to be young.
I was (also) 10 back then and loved music very very much, but acid, house and all pure electronic genres passed me by back then. In hindsight i missed out on something, as an 80s and 90s lover retroactively i'm into digging into general popmusic of the era's, but the electronic part of it is especially so interesting
Great DAYZ, C C Can You Feel It... Youve got to have the stereo system blowing your ears out to appreciate this, How do i know i was there !!! Still Cool !!!
So glad I was there to see and feel the vibe back then !! it was quality, Go to a party now and you cant tell if people are sparring are fucking dancing !! Doesn't anyone smile any more !!!!
I thought the common stance was the americans were first in the mid 80s In Chicago ,Juan Atkins ,Derrick May ,Eddie flashin Folkes ,all the European stuff appeared a bit later ,.
I was born too late to see they heydays of Acid and Techno music, but it totally fascinates me as a 25-year-old I want to have this rave experience so, so badly. I've gotten close, but nowhere near what I've seen in these historic rave videos I've been studying. That's what sucks about living in America. The good techno scene seems to be over the lake. But I'm trying to bring the scene back. I just gotta find more electronic music producers!
CHICAGO radio in the late 80's B96 played HOUSE from 10 to 4 fri, and sat nights !!BAD BOY BILLY , JULIAN JUMPING PEREZ , TIM SPINNING SHOWMER, TOO KOOL CHRIS!! MIXING IT UP !! LOL LOVE IT
It's Belgian (Antwerp & Brussels), New Beat & Acid was born there, was there at that time...! :)) UK was the first country that jumped on the Belgian train and helped the big explosion of these styles. Then came House Music +- 1989
This was just before my time, I'm 33, my babysitter at the time was in to all this.. that's how I got in to it, and then a 10 year love affair with drugs and house music began..
I always liked the old acid house sound!! But I can't believed they danced like that be waving their hands in the air. I guess that was how that music was back then lol!
went to a club in streatham in 88 with a paracute hanging on the ceiling and it played this stuff was totally new to me.I couldn't stop dancing for hours.

To anybody who wasn't lucky enough to be around when this was all going on all i can say is this was a proper night out. Looking back it really was something else. Bring that beat back!!
