I liked hearing about Alex Stewart again. I so enjoy his stories.
It's wonderful that these people who worked so hard found joy in the quilting. Even utilitarian quilts were a constant visual reminder of comfort you provided for your family. The comment about the poorer people not having or even knowing about quilts to keep warm was so sad. Thank you for sharing these stories, Tipper.
For these dynamic quilters, I applaud 👏👏👏! Daily upkeep was difficult, uncomfortable, and having a bath was less than convenient. I do appreciate their spirit !!!
What a joy to have you read to us about quilting in times past, which makes you just as precious!😊🙏🏻
I do love Alex Stewart. I just like this book. The quilts are so pretty. And sharing their quilts with folks . That's so sweet.
I love hearing Mr. Stewart refer to his momma as mommy. My Appalachian family did the same. It was sweet to hear. I grew up hearing my dad refer to my momma as mommy. 🥰
Mr. Erwin had a wonderful gift. I love that he wrote down or taped them all. We are all better for them.
Alex Stewart was such an amazing man he could literally do anything what a clever man and the quilts are amazing thanks Tipper God bless ❤
Love hearing about these wonderful people. I remember my mother having quilting bees when I was growing up. Never knew anyone quilting outside.
I really enjoyed hearing about all the people in the stories, brings back memories from my childhood.
Thank you Tipper for your kindness. Thanks for reading to us. I love this book. I know well many of the places & surnames of the people you are talking about. So very special to me.❤ Blessings to you and all your sweet family! 🙂🙋
❤❤ thank you.Tipper for reading to us you have such a story telling soothing voice. I love quilting like my mommy did God bless you and your family ❤
Hannah May's quilt was such a lively and unusual pattern❣️
Thank you for reading Tipper. As a quilter, touched my heart Alex wouldn't take any amount of money for those quilts.
I'm 70yrs old an enjoy watching all ur family o when's supper lol
Wow! It sure was a lot of hard work. Wouldn’t you love to have seen the quilts that Alex had? Thank you for reading more for us. So very interesting.
Thanks for reading to us! These stories are very interesting. I was not aware that women worked in coal mines before the '70's.
Hey Tipper, I like Lillian and Harvey staying in contact after all them years. What a special bond they have with one another. And that Alex, he's a trick of all sorts. I would say in many ways like Matt. Y'all have a good weekend and prayers for Granny and y'all.
Enjoyed today's reading. What interesting people. Remembering things fondly that were awful chores when we were young is so true for us as we get older, isn't it?
The part of the book the surprised me was that a man knew how to quilt and did!!! I am so enjoying this book!!! Thank you Tipper!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Was nice to hear you mention Pikeville, KY. My children’s paternal grandparents were from there. Their grandmother quilted quilts for them when they were toddlers. I washed them too much and they started to fall apart . I wish I had treasured them more and handled them more gently. Now I understand their value and her love.❤
I love the stories about the people
Thanks Tipper for all the stories I live in Tennessee but growing up was about the same as u all making quilts my grandmother made with her friends God Bless u all
😊 So glad you enjoy them!
Yes , Alex Stewart was my fav book you've read for us.
Praying and Blessed! 🤗🙏💕
Love hearing you read Tipper, your voice is so soothing, you could read the phone book and make it sound good, ( if we still had phone books) .I do love the story, I too like to think about the old days, when I was small, just to listen to my grandparents talk.
Oh thank you!
We are so Blessed to have access to this book by way of your readings....Thank you so much
The part about Alex Stewart was an added treat this reading.
Thank you Tipper for reading this story stay safe.
I have this book & never get tired of looking through it. I'm only 51, but people today do not realize how good they have it. We don't know struggle like these people did.
These stories are so interesting. Thank you for sharing this book with us!
Quilts are so beautiful! I wish I had the talent to make them.
Me too 😊
Such interesting folks! Thanks Tipper 🤗❤️
Thanks Tipper for reading to us❤
You are so welcome 😊
Oh my goodness gracious that spiral quilt that Hannah made is stunning. I have been quilting for a few decades now and I have never seen a spiral that large. If I had that pattern it would just have to be in my list of quilts that just have to be made. It would look amazing in a king size. Wow! I need one! ❤
Thank You Tipper, for sharing 🙏
My pleasure!
I love to put a face to alex stewart ❤️ best book you have read by far.
I like the stories and I enjoyed seeing binx the black cat sharing the vidio
I just saw your short about idlesom. When I moved outwest many of my neighbors would point out that I was always busy. That fits perfectly with quilting. Since many would do this as a winddown activity before going to bed. Some times, in the fall, as the daylight hours shorten I will turn on the yard lights, go outside and weed. Not for any reason other than what else would you do at 5PM after dinner but before bed? Great content, history must never be forgotten.
I am thoroughly enjoying this book reading! Makes me want to learn the skill! Loved seeing Binks in the background.
I love to listening to you read Tipper. I like Dwight yokam. He's from pikeville Kentucky. He was small when his mom & dad moved to Ohio. They returned to see grandparents in pikeville. and they sang which influenced him. Loved hearing about the quilters 😊
Enjoyed seeing Binx patrol the garden. Assume your garden statue is St. Francis. I think every garden needs one. St. Francis stands in my front garden and Buddha in the back garden. My cats like both of them.
Sweet! Love the readings
I just love listening to you read,Tipper! I am really enjoying this book about quilts and I love when Alex is mentioned in one of the books you read and I think oh I know who that is! ❤
Oh thank you!
All of these people are just so incredibly interesting. As I child I loved old people, I would visit with them just as soon as going out to play. Now, I are one, lol.😂
One phrase I heard tonight and I’ve heard you say during different readings is, “it just ticked her (him/me.)”. My mom and her people (Stewarts) always said that. It had been many a year since I’ve heard that and it made me smile. Have a great weekend. TeresaSue
I'm new here! I loved this "reading'!! Now I will have to go back and listen to 1-8. So interesting.
Thank you for reading this wonderful book I love every word of it. I hope some day I can visit that museum too.

I love listening to you read . My folks come from Calhoun Rd, Frog Level Waynesville NC. Ever heard of that place😅.
My family and I spent a night at a little motel in Waynesville in the mid 90's. It was a lovely place!
I have 😀
😢😢 just realizing I haven't seen your videos in.. in..in months! Out of site out of mind... don't know what brought me back to you.. .so glad it did! Seeing you all now makes me realize how cheated I was from following you. Disappeared.?.? From my feed. Why?? Thinking back...at least 10 months. So sorry just seeing it now... was part of 'their ' plan..
I'm glad you found us again 😊 Thank you for watching!
Pleased to see Donnie Laws is on the mend.
😊
❤❤
Binks video bombed you😂
😀
This is a good book, but I did not warm up to it as quickly as i did with the Alex Stewart book. I had to keep coming back to your readings of it before I enjoyed it. Maybe it is because I do not think alot about art for art's sake.
TIPPER, my wife watches you & lost your address, she would like to send a package, thanks
I thank her for watching 😀 it is PO Box 83 Brasstown NC 28902
