At that time Kings were allowed to take multiple wives (mostly in a way to strengthen their diplomatic ties with other kingdoms). The woman you first saw was not his mother but his first wife, Padmavati was second

Fun fact: Padmavati was a Rajasthani hindu girl and had nothing to do with Sri Lanka or Buddhism. The movie writer was smoking something strong while writing the script.

Not Mom, his First wife
The actor who played Allauddin is Ranveer Singh and the lead actress is Deepika. They are both married to each other in real life. Also Steph you have seen Deepika and Ranveer as leads in Ramleela (the Romeo Juliet kinda tale) Ranveer needed psychiatric treatment after getting extremely involved in his role as Allauddin, he was even bleeding badly during scenes and didn't realize it cuz of being deeply immersed in the character. He was taken to the hospital and had multiple stitches. Since this depicts history, a bunch of extremists groups like Shiv Sena, Karni Sena etc vandalized the expensive sets multiple times. Lots of intolerance took place for no reason, they even burned down a school that was playing Ghoomar in their school function. They even put out a price for the person who would behead the lead actress Deepika and bring her head to them, for "disrespecting" their queen. A LOT of effort was put in to this movie in every way by the team!!
For more context on the pearls and the other queen thing for Steph, in the old times Kings had multiple wives, be it the Khiljis, Mughals, Rajputs, Marathas, Ahoms, Vijayanagara Empire Kings anyone....in the movie she was King Ratans first wife and was just jealous of the presence of a second wife that is Maharani Padmavati...this usually doesnt happen...but yes sometimes it does...this instance doesnt play a major part in the movie...
What a movie. For me this is the best SLB movie and my favourite indian historical based movie. The music, the sets, the acting, the direction, cinematography🤌🏼😍🔥👌🏼. Still gives me goosebumps🤩. I was blessed that I watched this masterpiece in theatres in 3D😍.

Rawal Ratan Singh was the 42nd ruler of the kingdom of Mewad (present-day Udaipur region of Rajasthan) that was established by Rajah Guhaditya in 566 CE (AD). Maharana Pratap was the 54th ruler of this kingdom who ruled during the period 1572-1597 CE. Ruler #1 through 7 had the title of Rajah, ruler # 8 Kalbhojaditya (730s CE) assumed the title of Rawal who successfully defended the Arab invasions for which he was reveredly called as Bappa Rawal. Ruler # 43 Hammeer Singh (r: 1326-1364) assumed the title of Maharana which continued till independence of India in 1947.
