Should be considered an Oklahoma legend like Woody and appreciated by the whole USA this guy is my new favorite singer/songwriter! Thanks from this Adirondack Yankee pushing 70....You Sir are a National Treasure!!!
Steven Snyder I saw him live in a super intimate house show. Literally sitting in someone's living room. Their dog roaming around. Mr. Moreland a few feet in front of me. This is one of the songs he performed. It was amazing. His newest album (Containing this track) comes out on 4/21.
Beautiful! Best line: "... I'd still feel your fingers on my soul". This song left finger prints on mine! Thank you, John! Hope to see you in concert while I'm here in Oklahoma!
Just got exposed to Mr. Moreland through Ben Nichols' cover of "God's Medicine" and can not stop listening to him. His lyrics, his playing, his expressions of all that we experience floor me.
I stumbled upon your music recently, going through a rough patch with my fathers early passing. Your lyrics are so deepfelt and pure. I know you might never see this, but I want to thank you, Mr. Moreland. Your music has helped me in my dark times, quite a bit. Regards from Denmark.
His song 3:59 is amazing. (“ I ain’t never had a lick of sense when it comes to you...”) his songs hit hard. Especially for those of us raised in Indian nation. 💯

My baby is a tornado In the endless Oklahoma sky Spinning devastation And singing me a lullaby And you're wrecking all the rooftops When April turns to May It wouldn't make a difference If I could or couldn't stay I fall back into love And look up and then you're gone But I still feel you storming in my bones When I touch the hands of time They won't mind what and where I've been Woke up in Cleveland County And you're picking up my pulse again And we'll be tearing through your sheets Or through the streets of this old town Looking for the answers To these doubts we drag around And babe I never learned You'll say the word and then I'll break But I'll still feel your old familiar ache So we're covered up in fiction Chasing something true But darling damn the luck And damn the consequences too I could bury all the memories I could patch up all the holes But I'd still feel your fingers on my soul My baby is a tornado In the endless Oklahoma sky

This is about the 8th time in a row I have listened to this. "I still feel you storming in my bones" this man knows pain.
He is without doubt a lyrical genius. Class 👌

The tune is so beautiful, but then the lyrics. He kills me.

and damn the consequences too."

A publisher should document his lyrics in a book. I could flip to any page & find favorite lines.....They r all perfect.

Incredible smh, I’m jealous of his talent. I wish I could write like him.

I sure hope this one is on the new album!
TJH 1971 It is. :) Along with Cherokee, and You Don't Care for Me Enough to Cry... I heard him perform these three live... Amazing.
This songs almost sound similar to his other composition - " hang me in the tulsa county stars"
What an amazing song and performance! Where can I buy your records! Welcome home LeBron!
I got mine on Amazon.
this is better than the album version.
Gifted poet. Who was that guy, Dylan, anyway?
My baby is a tornado
In the endless Oklahoma sky
Spinning devastation
And singing me a lullaby
And you're wrecking all the rooftops
When April turns to May
It wouldn't make a difference
If I could or couldn't stay
I fall back into love
And look up and then you're gone
But I still feel you storming in my bones
When I touch the hands of time
They won't mind what and where I've been
Woke up in Cleveland County
And you're picking up my pulse again
And we'll be tearing through your sheets
Or through the streets of this old town
Looking for the answers
To these doubts we drag around
And babe I never learned
You'll say the word and then I'll break
But I'll still feel your old familiar ache
So we're covered up in fiction
Chasing something true
But darling damn the luck
And damn the consequences too
I could bury all the memories
I could patch up all the holes
But I'd still feel your fingers on my soul
My baby is a tornado
In the endless Oklahoma sky
i feel bad for the other artist's on stage. i would not want to have to follow that. wow
This is so good.
