    it's danger bleeding fish will attract bull shark

    • @sailingpopao
      @sailingpopao  6 лет назад +3

      Jasmine Wu we haven't found bleeding a fish attracts sharks any more than the fish struggling anyway, we always bleed out fish to get the best quality fillets to eat. Such a shame to let good meat go to waste by not bleeding.

    weird that you guys over east call them jew fish. over here in WA we call them mulloway and have another endemic species actually called dhufish

    • @sailingpopao
      @sailingpopao  6 лет назад

      We call them Mulloway over here also, I think the name came from jewel fish referring to the jewels (otoliths) then in true Aussie fashion made as short as possible lol Jewfish, Jewies, Jew.
      Would love to spear a big WA Dhu!

    I always thought it was bad to keep the bloody flesh in the fillets. Was told it spoils the meat.

    • @sailingpopao
      @sailingpopao  5 лет назад

      Hey mate, not 100% if it spoils the meat cause we always cut it off, it certainly tastes like %h!t if you cook it.

    • @Breathlesssight
      @Breathlesssight 5 лет назад

      @@sailingpopao I thought so too but saw some blood lines in there. I never stored meat until recently and someone told me about why my fish tasted gross. I wasnt cutting all the red out.
      Keep up the good videos!

    • @sailingpopao
      @sailingpopao  5 лет назад

      @@Breathlesssight if there is a lot of blood through the meat like in the video we cut it off after its been frozen, when when we are ready to use it. Otherwise you end up with a lot of surface area which isn't ideal when freezing as it's more prone to freezer burn. So yeah, I guess it doesn't spoilt the meat because we freeze it left on all the time but always remove it before cooking.

    • @sailingpopao
      @sailingpopao  5 лет назад

      Bleeding your fish well, is also VITAL to good quality flesh. This will reduce the amount of blood in the flesh.

    Do u need regular fishing licences for spearfishing, or is it nessecary to get an extra licence? Im heading to australia this june and I´m a passionate fisherman so let me know if u have any informations for me. Didn´t yet found any on google. Great catches and greetings from Germany!

    • @sailingpopao
      @sailingpopao  6 лет назад +3

      Thanks for watching! Where in Australia are you planning on visiting? Each state has different regulations, some don't even require a licence. We are in NSW and pay for a recreational fishing licence that covers all recreational fishing.
