I've remade this guide for Dawntrail, covering a full journey from level 1 to 100, with a 50 summary just like this one! ruclips.net/video/R7Z-9uj_h0Q/видео.html Enjoy!
That is good advice! If you try to play healer with the party list all the way to the left, then you are either bound to step in something without looking at your character, or forget to look at your party because you are too busy with everything else! 😊
Exactly this. It helps a lot. I personally don't find it convenient to use keybinds to cycle through the list or use macros to target certain players. It's much easier and quicker for me to just click on the name of the person
I just had a run of Aurum Vale with a White Mage who would spam Cure 3 until they were out of mana, whether the tank had taken damage or not. By the end of the run, they were using Regen, Cure 2, Stone, Aero, and Holy, though they hadn't quite grasped that they needed to be close to an enemy to hit them with Holy... and they kept using Holy on the bosses. Anyway, while they were *much* better than when they begin, I urged them to check out this guide. I sincerely hope they did, both for the sake of the groups they get *and* for their own enjoyment of the game. Thank you so much for making these!
I'm very new to the game and so far this has been the most helpful and easiest white mage guide for me to understand. And I love how calm and precise your voice is!!! Thanks!!!
I appreciate you explaining the terms used in the video! Sometimes while watching other videos I would get confused when they used terms I have not learned before. Thank you for the helpful guide!
I'm glad you found it helpful! Yes indeed, it is not super great if a starter guide starts to include all sorts of terms and assuming you'd know when the guide should be understandable for a new player too! Thank you!
I just went from CNJ to WHM a couple days ago and was feeling like I could be doing a better job so this video was super helpful! I know I'm gonna keep coming back to it as I continue to level up :) Thank you!
I'm glad to hear that! Thank you! Once you graduate past level 50 (and reach Heavensward and Ishgard), I of course also have a level 51-90 guide to continue if you need it! :D
As a new white mage, this is so helpful. The job quests only have you dealing damage. They don’t teach you anything about your spells. Job quests definitely need a rehaul.
I found dungeons and big pulls so stressful when I was learning white mage until I learned regen, now they're just fun and I love the thrill of dealing with huge tank pulls.
I get that, when you don't have regen yet, it's also like the tank is in free fall when you aren't actively healing them! At least regen can help a bit with that. The stress for me certainly comes from not having any ability options at all when something unexpected happens! 😊
I got a rude awakening - after having farmed duty finder early MSQ dungeons as a healer for quick queues in order to get grand company seals and ranks quickly, as soon as I started doing dzemael darkhold I got humbled QUICK. Sticking at it, it still felt stressful. After watching this video one time and ditching cure 1, preempting regen and making use of cooldowns - I just had the smoothest run of my life and feel like I finally understand my rotation as a white mage Take a subscribe and a like, my good sir
I'm glad my guide helped you to get such a wonderful improvement! Thank you for sharing that story! 😊 And I hope you enjoy your continued journey with white mage! 😄
im coming back after 5 years of not playing the game, nevermind white mage, so this video is very very helpful for remembering everything 😅😅 tysm dude, the video is so belpful ❤❤
I started with WHM because it was the closest I could get to a Geomancer. The only healer I've played is the Maplestory Cleric, and that was about 15 years ago when there wasn't much to it; just spamming your single AoE heal when people took damage and occasionally using a damage spell. Haven't really played much of FFXIV yet to be honest but I just love listening to your voice.
Thank you so much! 🥰 Yeah healing in ffxiv is probably going to be very different from maplestory, but if you want to be a healer, white mage is certainly the best to start with to get the basics down 😁
@NatMage yeah it is a bit strange they decide to do that! Lore wise, in ffxiv, geomancers are the far east equivalent to astrologians, and is exclusive to NPCs unfortunately 😕
Personally I always liked the space/time/void theme of magic a bit more but the seemingly steep learning curve of Astrologian on top of it being a healer made me a little too anxious to play it 😅
Thank you this is really helpful, I had no idea Medica was so effective, Cure was to be avoided or that I should be constantly using Lucid Dreaming/PoM... No wonder I've been doing so badly haha.
I'm glad you found it helpful! I am sure you will do way better now! And of course I also hope you enjoy your continued journey with the job as you level up more!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh I am sure we will succeed. I did all of coils with my FC's group A but will be fun doing it with people who haven't yet. I'm only subbing for one member of one of the turns. Granted I did it as a scholar the first time.
Duuuuuuude I was wondering where my water magics were!!! Lmao I trained in the element of water yet do nothing with water ahhh ty for that tidbit at the end, but more importantly ty for this guide. ily
The extra bonus info that fluid aura was learned at level 15 probably further explains why the trial by water quest doesn't teach you anything! 😅 I'm glad you found it helpful! Thank you! 😄
A question regarding the opener you showed: Why cast stone before areo and presence of mind? I'm sure there's a reason, I'm just not quite understanding why you'd want to not get your damage over time up immediately, and cast stone normally then reduce the time for future casts. What are the advantages to doing it this way? Also, I just started healing for the first time the other day after sticking with black mage all the way through the msq, and it's been a fun change of pace! Gonna have to come back to this video later, lots of useful things I wanna keep in mind, thank you for sharing!
The reason you use stone first is because, as it has a cast time, you can get the full cast time off before the fight starts. In contrast if you lead with aero, you don't get the free cast the same. This of course also means that if the tank engages before you can start casting stone, it might be smarter to jump straight to aero 😊 it's simply a matter of sneaking in a free stone before the battle properly begins! I hope this helps! I'm glad you're enjoying white mage! 😁
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Ahhh, that makes sense! I totally blanked on that possibility even though I do it all the time with thunder as BLM haha. Thank you for the response! ^^
I highly recommend white mage to get into the role, as it let's you get well acquainted with most of the aspects all healers have to deal with, without confusing you with other things like card management 😊 I also recommend trying Scholar before jumping straight into sage, however if you really want to get into sage, you can ease yourself into it by doing low level dungeons at first 😊 i still do recommend learning white mage first though!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh And if people want to learn Scholar, I highly suggest leveling Arcanist as Scholar and not playing Summoner until you've maxed Scholar. Scholar simply has way too many buttons and suddenly starting at level 90 because you leveled Summoner is painful.
I played all this time as Tank and some parts as DPS, now trying to play as healer but found it very stressful... Usina this guide to maybe get better on the function but not so positive about it...
Healing is a completely different beast, so it is perfectly natural to find it scary at first! If you're afraid of failing other players then I do recommend practicing with duty support as well so you can practice without worrying about what other players will say 😊
Is it true the mount is only available as long as you stay conj? I saw a video somewhere that stated if you change to whm before accepting the quest you can no longer get the mount.
When you enter duties your level gets scaled down, and you lose access to higher level tools as a result 😊 If you have been doing your job quests then all you should need to do is continue your main quest, eventually higher level content will appear! 😊
@@CaetsuChaijiCh I'm aware of that :') I'm referring to when I'm not in dungeons as well. It's completely blacked out even tho it's on my hotbar. Do I need to do any quests for White mage?
@LadyAkiraNight can you give an example of which spells? If it is a spell that requires level 50 or below, then you simply need to do your job quests. If it is the level 52 spell, you need to first complete all of the level 50 msq stuff and get to heavensward (it's quite a lengthy process), and THEN more job quests will start appearing again 😊

I would recommend moving the party list closer to wherever your eyes tend to rest, and make it larger.

the whm is one of my favorite jobs right now, but before regen or the lilys it's a completely different job
Exactly! It feels very strict and limited, it somehow fun in its own way honestly! 😊 But as others said, also stressful! 😁

Ah, a nice refresher. Imma need it since I'll be aiding my fc's B team do coils. Specifically T12. Since one of theirs can't be there that day.

As someone who learned sage first, WHM is defo a better introduction, more so since you learn from level 1 and don't start right at 70

I believe you might have to be conjurer to do the quest? But you can just take off your job stone temporarily to do the quest 😊
Im lvl 52, Some of my skills aren't present, do I need to finish the story quests? Like, they're unlocked but unusable even in dungeons 😅
