With Patch 6.4, Scholar at level 30-50 got an AoE Adjustment, and a significant change to how their pets work: -> Fey Illumination's area of effect is now 30 yalms. -> Your pets now IMMEDIATELY cast actions when commanded *if they were following you*. If you command your pet to move anywhere ("Place"), this will always take priority over commanded actions - assume that a commanded move is also a commanded action by this token. This means that you might find your pet slightly more responsive if you just have your pet follow you around in combat, rather than placing it. -> Summon Selene no longer exists as a spell, and you only have Summon Eos. However, if you go to your Arcanist Teacher in Limsa Lominsa, there is a new quest (unlocked at level 30) called "A Faerie Tale Come True." When this quest is completed, you unlock the /petglamour, /petglam and /egiglamour commands (they are all functionally the same), which are used as follows: /petglamour [summon] [glamour] Inputs for [summon] is more important for summoners, as there are multiple options here, but for Scholars, you simply write "Eos" here. Inputs for [glamour]: "Selene", "Carbuncle", "Emerald Carbuncle", "Topaz Carbuncle", "Ruby Carbuncle". The Quotes are important. To reset your glamour back to normal, simply write /petglamour "Eos" Without inputting a Glamour option at all. To see the tutorial on the command in game, write /? /petglamour Enjoy!
Personally SCH is great for learning how you should keep attacking most of the time, since your fairy makes that obvious and the job is accessible from low level
This is absolutely true! Not only does Scholar reward you for taking a bit more risks and letting team members stay at less than full HP, but due to that specific reward, you are incentivized to play a lot more aggressively! I do think that if you are completely new to the concept of healing, that it might be a good idea to at least try Conjurer before diving into Scholars more complicated toolkit right out the gate though! 😄
@@CaetsuChaijiCh I can agree with this. I took to SCH before CNJ and it was kind of terrifying and had a few dead tanks. But it taught be the importance of actually knowing how much your heals actually do.
Well that was incredibly helpful. I personally am not a fan of having to use the pet to heal but ill just have to get used to that quirk. My scholar is lvl 97 and I didnt know how to deal properly when i got a shb dungeon with it.
Thank you for mentioning weighing the incoming damage through Sacred Soil vs 1 Lustrate. Especially in dungeons it's important at a low level because once you use all three Aetherflow you're in a rough spot.
Indeed! It is a very difficult decision too, because unless you are keeping very close track of how much Lustrate does for you, and how much the enemies are doing, it is easy to miss how much Sacred Soil is actually worth in this level range!
@@JetEriksen I mean, I suppose that can be helpful if you aren't always in melee range, but other than that, your autos should come out whenever they can
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Well, that's the funny thing. If you activate Riddle of Wind right before an auto attack lands, you get an extra AA within Riddle of Wind. Which is why you'd need the timer.
That's helpful for monks yes! And that is not exactly optimal that you'd need a tool like this to play optimally. But fortunately Scholars don't need this to optimize art of war on 1 😄 It's alright, I'm guessing you mixed up the two conversations we had since you did specifically bring up riddle of wind on the other video! 😊

Lil late but im just coming back to the game after years and im going to play scholar unfortunately i have to wait til 30 😢 but watching a bunch of your vids thank you!
@CaetsuChaijiCh I really want to try astro but gotta get 50 and msq. Question is will it be worth it since the rework happens next summer with the new expansion?
@allday6772 everything changes in the world. If a job being reworked in less than a year is enough reason to not try it, what's the point in doing anything? 😊 If you think astrologian looks like fun, try it, the worst that can happen is that you love it and it gets reworked to something else. But then you got to enjoy the job when it was as it is now. It's your chance to try it now! 😉
Have you explained your hot bar setups in any of your videos before? I'm very curious as to why you have your damaging abilities all the way over on the right side of the hot bar. Assuming that you're using the default hot bar layout, those look very cursed to hit repeatedly over the course of a duty
ruclips.net/video/vi9f36t-Qrc/видео.htmlsi=LSSi5_3aIRpGh1Nk I explain it in this video where I also demonstrate my thought process when setting up keybinds. The reason it covers those three jobs in particular is because they were new / reworked and I had yet to ever play them, so my thought process was not affected by my direct knowledge of the individual jobs, and based on intuition alone 😊 The simple answer is that I use an mmo mouse with a thumb grid, making the far right 123 buttons quite easy to access!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Oh! that graphic at the start makes everything make much more sense! I actually have the same mouse but I just have everything mapped for the mouse and use the 4*3 hot bar set ups so I never have to move my left hand off of movement
so i shouldnt have used sacred soil during pulls? no wonder ive been finding it so hard to handle pulls as a scholar 😭 the fact that nobody has been correcting me either during all these dungeon runs i did 🤧
Sometimes sacred soil is good during pulls, but it is complicated in this level range 😊 it does help, but often, lustrates simply help more at lower levels! 😅
Ruin has a cast time as well as travel time so by casting it before the boss is aware of you, you essentially get most of the cast off for free. That doesn't work of course if the boss already engaged you in combat 😊
There are so many guides that show how to play scholar and best tips and tricks for starter. all of them lack the same information. How TF do I get the class? It starts at lv 30 but how do I get it!? Why does no one address this?
You need to be a level 30 arcanist and have completed the main scenario quest "sylph management" (this is a requirement to unlock the JOB system in the first place), then you have to complete all of your arcanist class quests. After that, you should be able to pick up the Scholar starter quest from Murie in limsa lominsa lower decks, the quest is named "forgotten but not gone". 😊 Enjoy! The reason this is often not mentioned in these guides, is because usually we assume you already have the job acquired, since most of the sites you can read about the job on also lists how to get it to my knowledge! 😅
@Mynookoo for future reference, consolegameswiki, gamerescape and icy-veins are usually trustworthy websites to find information like this, although depending on how you search, it can require a bit to find the exact answer of course! 😅😊

A new Scholar 1-100 guide would be nice.
I'm working on remaking all of the guides, but it takes time 😅 but don't worry I will also remake this one when I get there!
