I have made an updated version of this guide for Dawntrail, which should be a lot more accurate with the job rework! It is also a full guide from level 1 to 100, but covers all the things just like this one does! Find the link here: ruclips.net/video/fTt7xGmAM0A/видео.html Enjoy!
The good news is that you actually have the majority of things already at 50, so the base rotation doesn't get much crazier. Although some temporary buff cooldowns can of course require some planning ahead! But I am sure you can do it! 😁
These new fangled gamers with their passive greased lightning! 😂 I remember monks sometimes were scary because if they deemed you were one second too slow, they would pull for you because they didn't want to risk losing greased lightning! 🤣
Reminds me of when BLM’s Enochian was a button you had to press and if you dropped it, you had to wait for it’s 60 sec cooldown from the time you pressed it lol
I had no idea "ability" meant that something was weaveable! I was just learning a few damage buttons as I went (for example when I got the dragoon, at first I didn't even realise Jump was a weavable Ability and thought it was just a really weak weaponskill, that seems so funny now). Now I know about Abilities being a category, it'll be so much easier to figure out what other buttons are weavable and also fit in the utility buttons that are also Ability type during rotation. Learning that was super helpful!
That is a great discovery to make! 😄 I am sure you will find that jobs make way more sense now that you learned of this interaction, as you said, jump seems really weird otherwise! 😁 If you want to learn a bit more about it I actually made shorts going over these subjects in slightly more detail, including the slightly more intricate details, and more advanced ways of weaving! 😁 I will put the links below here in case you would find them helpful! Global cooldown short: ruclips.net/user/shortsWDtPflAdQto?feature=share Weaving short: ruclips.net/user/shorts1NXPYbJuh98?feature=share
I'm glad to hear that! Although I can understand it might have been confusing with the dawn trail changes! But the general over arching advice Still applies I would say! 😁 Enjoy your time with monk! 😄
ty for the guide and i see the fun fact is about a buff that goes away just as fast xD p.s: I already understood what you meant yesterday that you couldn't use perfect balance continuously at lv 60, you mean the attacks of the phoenix, force field and phantom rush prevent you from accessing it and that's why you couldn't record it with your conventional dummy?
😂 Precisely. At some point between my original monk endwalker guide, and this one, a quality of life change was made that disables perfect balance if you already have the buff or if you have the full masters gauge, so I would not be able to properly demonstrate doing it back to back as I recommend in the guide! 😁
That's the spirit! Although monk changed a little bit since this guide was released! 😅 But the game has an insanely big free trial with infinite time so I do recommend you to try final fantasy 14! 😁
So i just did a leveling roulette (im new to monk) and the mobs were MELTING, i was wondering what was going on until our other DPS (blackmage) said "who's doing that dmg?" "Monk is that you?" So they held back for a bit and sure enough the mobs i was attacking were dropping like flies 😮 is monk really that strong?
Monk is surprisingly strong early on given how much of your toolkit you get and how much of your damage is just 123123123 😁 at max level all jobs are within a reasonable range of each other, but it does not surprise me monk is extra strong early on!
This is awarded by doing your class quests. If you check the box in the top left of your screen by default that names your main quest, right underneath it, it says another quest name. That is your class or job quest, you should do those to unlock and upgrade your class and job with new actions! 😊
Fortunately, monks toolkit is quite frontloaded, so beyond 50, I'd say the big changes are adjustments to what's already there in a way 😊 once you have masterful blitz at least! 😄
With the recent monk changes, would you still open with bootshine, twin snakes, and demolish before weaving perfect balance given the buff and dot are gone?
You should open with dragon kick, twin snakes and demolish I imagine! A weirdly helpful change to dragon kick is that it no longer relies on opo opo form to grant its effect if the tooltip is to be believed 😅 But anyway yes the idea now is you use the attacks that fill your new gauge slots if they are empty, and otherwise you spend! 😊
That would be incredible, but sometimes I can't say all that needs to be said in the timespan of a GCD, and with the existence of skill speed, even if I did it might still be off 😅 I hope you still found it helpful!
Make sure to do your class and job quests! By default you have a box in the top left of the screen that shows the name of your main quest. Right under that it shows the name of a class or job quest if there is one available!😊 It is important that you do these quests as they contain actions to unlock, and is required to even become a monk in the first place!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Thanks 😊 Yeah, I just take every quest I encounter, regardless of what they are connected to, and I take my time travelling and grinding. So the MSQ progression has probably been developing slower than intended, I guess. But I think there is one quest I never ended up doing - because it seemed to be an ill-natured favour that I'm not sure I want to support. It entailed a ring I was supposed to deliver somewhere. Eventually I started wearing the ring myself, and it looks like the quest itself just disappeared. I'm not entirely sure. It's probably alright, though. My main take-away from what you're saying is that the ability will probably be unlocked eventually. Just keep doing quests.
@@OdinsHarem The class and job quests are not something you are likely to randomly happen upon. It is possible you are overleveled because of doing the MSQ (This is normal), but you should still have access to the class quests
ok i need help from anyone to answer , I'm 47 monk but i don't seem to have all abilities to use in combat still? i somehow feel ive missed something went back to pug. trainer but i cant seem to learn more there .....? what is the obvious that i cant seem to find to add the other skills? i have the lvl 30 skills and a lvl 42 skill bt still missing the 35 & 40 skill?
I assume you have done the final pugilist quest "Return of the Holyfist" which awards you the action "Demolish". The quest that follows after, "Brother from Another Mother" unlocks the monk job by granting you the Monk Job Crystal. You have to wear the job crystal for Pugilist to turn into Monk. If you open your character sheet (where you can see what you have equipped), the bottom right slot I believe is where the job crystal slot goes. If you press this, it should open your Armoury Chest in the Job Crystal (Or Soul Crystal?) tab, where, assuming you did the appropriate quest, the job crystal should be found. Equip it and you should find you are now a Monk instead of a pugilist. Your hotbars may be wiped as a result, although a tutorial window may offer to copy over your hotbars when this happens. Once you have done this, you need to do your job quests to unlock most of the other actions you are also missing. You know you are on the right track when you can find "Rockbreaker" in your actions list. I hope this helps!
So wierd that they dont have passive abilities for all the fists/forms. Its really confusing and hard to compare the toolkit in its current form.. And what the hell is Affinity spells?
Affinity spells..? Don't quite know what you mean by that 😅 The forms are just a way to enforce combo sequences. I don't quite know how making any of that passive would change much since the only thing each form does is enable certain attacks for use! 😅
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Well if you haven't noticed that many of the spells hover tooltip says Affinity in the bottom then I think you lack observational abilities and regard your opinion thereafter.
@simonkristensson3077 i dont exactly appreciate your tone when I am trying to help you 😅 I didn't consider that part of the tooltip because it usually isn't important. Affinity refers to which classes or jobs can use an action, and it doesn't actually matter that much in the moment since either you have it visibly available to you, or your job doesn't have the affinity anyway. You should see that all the pugilist and monk actions will only mention affinity with them, while the role actions, which are more general, list a selection of jobs and classes.
@@CaetsuChaijiCh I think I might have misinterpreted your comment a little . Sorry for bad tone .. I played wow a lot and think ff14 is so crazy hard in comparison and I don’t understand a thing about the mechanics. wow has many triggered abilities which get their own icon in the spell book that’s a little similar but wow is so much easier to play. That was totally unexpected. I miss all macros that make it feel so much smother and accurate in rotation.
@simonkristensson3077 no worries! Yeah the game is very different! If you are having trouble with monk, you might find a different job easier to learn the game with as well! Coming from wow myself, I can also say that the player base of ffxiv - most of it at least - isn't expecting you to be great or perfect, so you can take your time to learn each thing at whatever pace you need! I don't know how much it will help with getting a better overview, but you could try using the alternate view option in the actions and traits! If you open the menu, there's a button in the bottom right of it, and when you press it, it sorts your actions in a much more systematic way, which includes putting attacks for a specific form in their own box and things like that! 😊
It certainly ranks high in difficulty to a lot of players, whether it is because of the weird combos, or the higher pace of the job, varies from player to player I think! On the positive side, the job is not punished too hard for smaller mistakes, so you can still perform surprisingly well without being a master!
I have made an updated version of this guide for Dawntrail, which should be a lot more accurate with the job rework! It is also a full guide from level 1 to 100, but covers all the things just like this one does!
