The Death Korps of Krieg first appeared as a unique regiment based on the Steel Legion metal models, so it would make sense to take the plastic Krieg and make them into Steel Legion.
Well... Kind of. In the 3rd ed codex there was an example of one painted to be a Krieger with either a skull motif freehanded on the gas mask or a subtle conversion. It's a bit like saying traitor guard started as a cadian kitbash because in codex lost and the damned there was an example of this.
It cool that each of the TTT crew solo videos give them a chance to show their artistry when it comes to videomaking as well. Like Murray with the camera plays on 0:55 and 1:11 . It doesn’t go unnoticed!
I have to say, I much prefer the non-pixelated thumbnails. And that's a great paint job, Murray! Your sculpting is incredibly impressive, it's amazing how you were able to so seamlessly blend everything together.
These lads are looking very cool! Honestly chopping up the gasmask to make a gasmask was 100% worth it as the skull mask looks really great. Would love to see how you handle some more detailed character in the future. And a comprison to the old sculpts would be cool too!
This is the sort of pure hobbying that I love to see, especially from creators like you that I love. MORE OF THIS PLEASE! Wasn’t Dave or Jazza going to resurrect their old Blood Angels army at one point? Let’s see it happen!
Very nice! I think they reach just the right spot of the old school and new school look, using the new Cadians as a jump-off point. The first tailcoat is a bit lumpy, but only in a few angles. It's CRAZY how good the gas masks look. I think Armageddon Ork Hunters would be cool, especially since they got some cool art and are allegedly equals to the Tempestus Scions
MOAR !!! This was a great conversion. There is something about the way Murray paints that at the beginning I'm thinking, OMG that's a blobby mess, but by the end it looks great, and I wish I knew how to do that ! :D
Please do more. There is a criminally low amount of new Steel Legion content on RUclips and I want to see you expand your force to included specialized units and 'Steel Legion'-ify them. Command Squads, Heavy weapons teams, veterans, grenadiers, etc. I can't wait to see what tackle next
It was great to see you have so much fun making these guys Murray! Honestly I’d love to see more of these guys even though the conversions are very similar each time!
i just built my first Cadian, before i admired any sculpting but didn't really think it was that big a deal, now I understand the its absolutely teeny and definitely a incredible thing to do so well done!
Steel Legion Captain at the end: "For the Imperium!" Steel Legion Trooper, looking at orks and then around: "We need more of us. Murray..." Loved the video, the kitbashing and the painting and the unabashed love of the older lore.
I ADORE this sort of stuff, custom converted armies are one of the best things in the hobby to me, especially if there's a cohesive story or theme to them. I would absolutely love to see more from this project, especially if it brings more unique or custom stuff like killteam specialists or specialist officers and attaches
I love how you just bring out that cadia box from time to time. It really shows just how much you can do with that box, and of course your own creativity. Some of my favourite things that you have made comes from that box.
LOVE this, Steel Legion is one of my all time favorite regiments. Would love to see your Ironcoats, maybe Kasrkin counts-as/conversions? Especially would be cool to see your conversions of the melta charge wielding one, Steel Legion EOD armor would look sick. Excited to see how these progress!
Kitbashing is my favorite thing on this channel. In fact, I've gotten a bit reinspired for the hobby and a faction that is rather rare to see, the adeptus biologis
Freeking awesome job Murry! Would love to see anything like this video. The sculpting is really interesting to watch. As always we love to watch you paint anything
Yeah man ! Keep going. I just converted a bunch of Death Guard using the mark iii HH kit and grilly stuff and guitar wire for the gas masks. Once you get into the groove it really isn’t so time consuming especially if you batch sculpt. Also don’t hesitate to use some fine grit sandpaper on those trench coats to get them smooth.
To me another signature feature is the helmet. The Steel Legions helmets are very close in design to what the German Fallschirmjägers had in WW2. I missed that on the trooper. Great sculpting job, you killed it with those tiny aquilas.
Love this concept and idea, would really enjoy seeing what you do for specialists. Would like seeing a version if the original Ironcoats with the actual factory aprons using a forging hammer or something as if he just pulled a toll from the line to bash an ork
MORE! MORE! MORE! These are great, would love to see an Armageddon pattern Basilisk or a Leman Russ with loads of guardsmen sat on it and really reach into that WW2 vibe.
As someone tied between making a classic all metal Steel Legion army VS a kitbashed and converted plastic one, Id definitely like to see more Steel Legion!
Really love seeing Murray's passion shine through this video and would love to see more more more of these iron coats made and maybe even played (in a few years time, after the traitor guard V sisters killteam batrep lol)
Steel Legion has always been my favorite regiment. I'd love to see heavy weapon squads and field ordinance crews. Absolutely criminal that they dont have model support these days
My partner collected and painted Warhammer with his mom and little brother as a kid, apparently some "friend" "borrowed" some of his armies, and they where just gone forever (same happened with some of his favorite RP books) he told me about this guy he had made, that had a tracker in hand, and he had painted the tracker and all, and i sat there like.. "Honney, you gave me all your old figures, I'm sure its still among them" and he lit up and asked me to please find them.. 23 in the evening lol! I found them, and i found his very nice painted figures and the one he was so proud of and he almost cried. He had really thought them gone! He asked me if i would be okay with him painting some of his old space wolfs with me and i told him that it was and will always be his models, he needs just ask and i will provide him the paint and brushes and everything haha! First i got him into wanting to play warhammer again, now I'm getting him into painting also heheheh >:3
I'd love to see more guardsmen kitbashes. I feel like they have so many awesome factions that are just ignored on tabletop. Vostroyans would also be appreciated
Absolutely amazing! Your work with green stuff is really impressive, and the paint job is perfect. I'd love to see more steel legion stuff, heavy weapon teams would be my pick though!
Murray, your minis are amazing. That Infantry lineman was honestly excellent, the gas mask looks legitimately good and I wish I had that skill when I was 12 and trying to start Steel Legion myself. I will watch as many Steel Legion Videos as I can get my grubby hands on.
Noice! I'm not a big fan of imperial guard and know nothing about this legion but your enthusiasm is infectious. If you sculpt another head maybe you could make a little mould of it? It looks like the trickiest bit to sculpt and could be really helpful if you want to make full squads.
Looks great! Had my doubts over starting with the black prime straight into a averland sunset base coat, but paint job looks great, good accompaniment to the amazing sculpting work, really makes them look unique instead of looking like a kriegsman kitbash.
Yes. MAKE MORE. This was very enjoyable to watch. Could clearly feel your love for dudes from Armageddon. There needs more to be of it. Also a huge Fanboy of the Legion myself and this is really inspiring to give it a try myself. Keep it up! I want to see the Iron Coats!
This and Daves renegade guard are awesome. Please do at least a 2x squad platoon with command squad. THEN, I think a Kasrkin/Scions/Grenadier style squad is on the cards for the iron coats.
If I were ever to do an Imperial Guard army, Steel Legion were always the one I'd choose. As a long time Space Wolf player and a fan of the First War for Armageddon lore it just seemed appropriate!
Love the mask on your character! It really turned out well. I really hope now that Guard got a range refresh even if its cadian style, we see a new regiment each edition. According to rumors Kreig are next, especially with quite a few recent rumor engines and the fact they have a KT. Steel legion I think could be done really easily with krieg models if they do get their army. Id love to see more aesthetically unique regiments like Catachan who are still hanging around on the GW webstore and Vostroyans especially
would love to see you explore how viable it is to convert a whole custom army like this - maybe converting the full cadia stands box in a limited time?
Would be cool to see you start small and do a kill team first and then maybe your take on a Steel Legion stormtrooper squad!! I just want to see more of your take on the Steel Legion!!
I love how between Dave, Murray, Jen and Jazza you each have a custom army (or in Dave’s case armies). When can we expect a Steel Legion vs Traitor Guard battle report?
Great conversions, also if for a whole army could be very time comsuming. On the market there are some heads with gasmasks that could be useful such as Anvil Industry's ones or a plastic sprue in the Death Fields range of Wargames Atlantic.
Steel legion NEEDS its own line again
Most regiments do
Desperate to get Yarrick back on the table. Best Guard character ever!
The Death Korps of Krieg first appeared as a unique regiment based on the Steel Legion metal models, so it would make sense to take the plastic Krieg and make them into Steel Legion.
Fax
I love how we keep getting new Cadians despite Cadia being fucked.
Of course Murray has a pet Steel Legion shoulder chimera. Did we expect any different?
Never leave home without one
Kind of sad that Krieg started as a Steel Legion paintjob, and now Steel Legion is a Krieg kitbash.
Hold up the krieg started as repainted steel leigon
Well... Kind of. In the 3rd ed codex there was an example of one painted to be a Krieger with either a skull motif freehanded on the gas mask or a subtle conversion.
It's a bit like saying traitor guard started as a cadian kitbash because in codex lost and the damned there was an example of this.
@@markhanson9508 ah ok that makes sense
Eh
@@markhanson9508 It was a skull on the face plate that was it.
It cool that each of the TTT crew solo videos give them a chance to show their artistry when it comes to videomaking as well. Like Murray with the camera plays on 0:55 and 1:11 . It doesn’t go unnoticed!

Thanks! And fingers crossed on doing some more
Murray's pure joy in his creation of that first model is so infectious and it's exactly why I love this hobby so much.
This is the sort of pure hobbying that I love to see, especially from creators like you that I love. MORE OF THIS PLEASE!

Stationforge also has some kind of Orkhunter Guard, have you seen them?
@@dimadobrik4516 I haven't, before. They look dope!
4:49 thank you for sharing your moment with us! Can see how authentic and genuine the emotion is!
MOAR !!! This was a great conversion. There is something about the way Murray paints that at the beginning I'm thinking, OMG that's a blobby mess, but by the end it looks great, and I wish I knew how to do that ! :D

I can feel your enthusiasm, awesome kitbash!
Converting like that in the age of 3d printing. Respect! And well done.
fantastic sculpting
I'm honestly more d&d than 40k. That being said, I'll watch sculpting, kit bashing, and modifying any day. Absolutely love this type of stuff.
I would like to see more of this! Whatever you wanna do with it, I’m going to watch it!
These are some of the best looking Steel Legion I've seen. I'd really love to see more of them
Always glad to see the old guard lines remade with modern plastics. More I say!
It was great to see you have so much fun making these guys Murray! Honestly I’d love to see more of these guys even though the conversions are very similar each time!
I love the conversion and kitbashing videos! Very good job on those masks.
i just built my first Cadian, before i admired any sculpting but didn't really think it was that big a deal, now I understand the its absolutely teeny and definitely a incredible thing to do so well done!
Steel Legion Captain at the end: "For the Imperium!"
Steel Legion Trooper, looking at orks and then around: "We need more of us. Murray..."
Loved the video, the kitbashing and the painting and the unabashed love of the older lore.
I fall away from the channel every now and then but when I come back it’s always to something like this where the enthusiasm is palpable. Love it!
More Steel Legion! Would love to see more specialists but also just seeing Murray happy makes me happy!
Very cool. Love hearing of personal favorite factions that are little known but have deep lore, history, and fanatics.
Awesome kitbash! I will totaly steal the gasmask technique for my imperial guard, it looks so good!
I think Murray's positivity and sheer joy broke me out of my hobby slump. Definitely, world love to see at least the squads full build!
I'm amazed at how well it your sculpts come together! I definitely want to see more of this!
I ADORE this sort of stuff, custom converted armies are one of the best things in the hobby to me, especially if there's a cohesive story or theme to them.

Show us the iron coats! Your conversion skills have given me goals for my own arms. Loved seeing your passion for this army.

Holy crap mate you make sculpting greenstuff look so effortless kudos. They look awesome and can't wait to see more

Perfect timing! I’ve literally went and ordered a guard combat patrol yesterday to do this exact thing. Raise high the black banners of vengeance!
Looks absolutely amazing!
Now, do MOAR of them! Like, only a hundred or so. They are a mech-guard, after all.
Freeking awesome job Murry! Would love to see anything like this video. The sculpting is really interesting to watch. As always we love to watch you paint anything
The greenstuffing in this one is super impressive!

I saw this and I thought 'About time Murray's Guard got some love'
Great video, as always
I really enjoy when people let out their nerd energy and have fun in their element! I want MOAR!!!!
I really love the opposing guard conversions on the channel!
To me another signature feature is the helmet. The Steel Legions helmets are very close in design to what the German Fallschirmjägers had in WW2. I missed that on the trooper.

Great to finally see a conversion video using the new sculpts!
I love that helmet technique. Brown base coat with green scratchy drybrush over the top. I can't wait to try that on my Guard!
MORE! MORE! MORE! These are great, would love to see an Armageddon pattern Basilisk or a Leman Russ with loads of guardsmen sat on it and really reach into that WW2 vibe.

All I gotta say is I can't wait to see a full army of these, Amazing Job!!
I would love to see you work this into a full army was very cool watching the green stuff
Man, watching your video and seeing how happy it makes you is just the cherry on top!
these guys were definitely the definition of trust the process. They looked awesome.
Yes more! I don’t do Imperial army, but still awesome to see your passion for them as well ask the skill you have sculpting!
I love the kitbash videos from this channel. The steel legion and traitor guard ones in particular
4:41 dont apologize, your fun is intoxicating. This is one of the best parts of the wargaming hobby!
This was great! I would love to see you do more Steel legion!
It's nice that each member has their own custom army. I would fund a Kickstarter to get 3D models like we did for Jazza's space bears.
Wow Murray great job!! Love you Steel Legion, would be great to see the veteran Ironcoats!! Awesome army, Thank you.
I love how absolutely JACKED that officer looks!

Really nice work. A full force done like this would be stunning.
Honestly one of my favorite channels on RUclips !! Keep going guys
Great vid Murray, making me think about the Tallarn project Ive been putting off for years. Keen for more of your Steel Legion
All in for Murray's conversions! I would definitely like to see specialist units and your completed squads.
You have inspired me to paint my ancient metal Steel Legion squad. Just after the immediate mountain of other grey shame is cleared.
Won’t lie first video of TTT I’ve watched in a while, more steel legion please!!
Murray, your minis are amazing. That Infantry lineman was honestly excellent, the gas mask looks legitimately good and I wish I had that skill when I was 12 and trying to start Steel Legion myself.

Woah, this was super cool!!! I hope we see more! The Armageddon Steel Legion are one of the coolest looking regiments
Loved watching this! The greatcoats look fab, and the greenstuff-sculpted aquila buckles came out looking great! Great work.
That look so cool! Only thing better is the pure joy Murray shows. :)
Very nicely done. I for one would love to see more of these.
