I know for a fact that those Resistance crews kept their T-70's in better shape than this. A friend of mine was one of the crew back in '87 and said they would never let the paint get so scratched or let their pilots go up with battle damage or weathering. They really took pride in their fleet and you should be ashamed for taking artistic license and making something so historically inaccurate.
You are so full of BS I can't believe it. If you knew anything you would know that space is full of dust and sub micro meteorites which can abrade the paint, and when maintenance crews walk on panels during repair.
When you got to the bit where you drilled the whole for the display stand I was like "ooh, finally something within my skill set" lol.. Love your work man.
Hey The Inner Nerd, WOW! Nice make over of a assembly line toy. This Revell Star Wars Resistance X-Wing Fighter looks Super Excellent! I liked the part where Gold Leader Blasted the Death Star. lol jk O that was back in the real original MOVIE 1977 when I was a teen. hahaha Yep, Old man rambling ... Sorry if I sound lame just saying your vid helped a fellow kit builder come back better
Very nice work, way more effort was put into this Revell kit then it should ever deserve but still, the end result is impressive. Keep the dream alive, keep identity politics out of Star Wars!
A lovely bit of work dude. You`ve essentially taken a bit of cheap cash-in chintz and with dedication, patience and skill made it great. And the music....well....EPIC.
This is the one thing I liked about the new star wars movies. The new xwings are awesome. In fact the new equipment for the first order/empire is pretty cool.
Great work buddy, I'm a newbie subscriber and I'm currently repainting the bigger version of this kit to the partisan scheme seen in rogue one, great techniques and a well made video, happy modelling mate, Tim the primered thumb 🖒😉
Awesome job!! I learned some new techniques that I can't wait to try!! Thanks!! Hey one thing about this kit. The splash guards on the lasers are oriented 90° wrong. The plastic is very soft on the kit and you can actually twist then into position and they will stay. Thanks again!!
Man you could make even a Revell kit look fantastic... wait this IS a Revell kit! See I knew it Tee Hee. Seriously, some fine fine work here. Thank you.
Adam Savage has a series of videos about this x wing getting ready for display in the smithsonian. They talk about Hangar rash and other weathering on this screen original. So wear and tear was built in to make it original and look used, not factory new.
Thank you. The music is an extended version of the force theme mixed with Rey's theme. I'm sorry I can't remember where the track came from but thanks for watching :)
Nice work. I had no idea a snap kit could look so good. Not a huge follower of star wars so this is probably a dumb observation, but flying with no pilot? Or can the little droid do that?
Jason Harris Thank you. A little side project just for fun. Yes BB-8 is the droid and it can fly it. (It is just a model though so it wont actually fly anyway)
I enjoyed watching this build. Thank you. If I had to critique one thing, is the photos at the end and how flat, dark and diffused the model looked vs. the build footage where it looked alive. I know this video is 6 yrs old, and maybe things are different. I don't know. I'll look at more. Bottom line, nice work and thanks.
Also, I forgot to mention that I appreciate the work that went into the editing and noting what materials you used along the way. Very well done and helpful. I made note of that if I ever do a build video.
Absolutely amazing! Do you use anything to make brush painting with Tamiya acrylics any better? I've found they dry really quick on the brush and get lumpy.
Thank you and thanks for watching :) I used a slowed version of Rey's force theme. The others are mixes that unfortunately I can't remember. All from Episode VII though. Thanks for watching and best of luck with your build :)
I'm not a fan of star wars at all but the way you took that snap together toy and made an awesome detailed model look alike is incredible inner. Question for you, how long have you been building models? till the next video take care my friend
GRIM REAPER13 Glad you enjoyed the video despite the subject thank you! The soundtrack is a slowed loop mix of "Ray's song" from Episode VII The Force Awakens.
I get what you're saying but these inlet designs were based off of the original design of the X-wing created in the late '70's by the legendary Ralph McQuarry so if anything, it's more true to the Star Wars aesthetic than what we ended up with.
Mike Silver TheKenjiStream This is the second video I've uploaded for this model. The first had a great mix of original Star Wars background themes but it got blocked so had to settle for a looped cover instead so you could actually view it
Good job kid now let's blow this thing and go home :). Serious note though, for the really intricate painting inside the cockpit you could do with some smaller brushes, you can buy really short and thin brushes that look a bit like the end of a cocktail stick, might help you a bit.
Beautiful job. I've got one of these and I'll be copying you! Have you considered building the big Zvezda Star Destroyer? I've got one waiting for me to figure out fiber optics. I'd love to see how you'd handle one.
@@TheInnerNerd Go for it, it's an awesome kit! And cheap on Amazon (UK) currently. I've got two, I'm just waiting to find the nerve to do them justice.
Looks really nice, you've done an amazing job. Can I ask you where this version of the Star Wars theme comes from please? You didn't list it in the description
Cassius Invictus Thank you! I use a cake baking tub to put over the model once painted, raise it up of the work bench to allow air flow or the paint will take forever to dry
Two questions, where do you get the thin lead wire? Also, when you use the AK Interactive to do the chipping, how long to dry between coats? I cannot find any direction on the web or their website other then "let dry between coats". Note I've also read you can use cheap hairspray for thd same effect. Great work on the finish!

Zippi Puq The paint is thinned roughly again, this time to around 40/60%. Gloss colours need more thinning typically. The trick I use on Tamiya acrylics is to apply X-20A immediately after getting a new jar. Add the thinner into the jar directly up to the neck of the jar, it should be then ready for airbrushing straight from the jar obve shaken thoroughly

Great build. I do think that its a shame they went for those wide engine inlets in the modern X-wing. To me that does not fit the star wars genre.
