  • It was to snowy in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Colorado to do a horse pack trip. So I decided to go east to the flat lands and the Cucharas River Bottoms, the remote canyon lands. I had a need to do some exploring and look for indian ruins and rock art. So I called a few people to meet me and stay for a few days and do some exploring. We did find after a long day's ride Indian rock art or petroglyphs symbols and Indian ruins, it was a great ride. This is my story.

This is the kind of trails I love! Open views changing with steep canyon walls and no dense vegetation or forests that limit your view. Wonderful!

This was a beautiful video with the petroglyphs and scenery. The horses liked getting out and stretching their legs too as well as the riders. Loved the streams! Thanks for sharing!

What a great spot. I've never been to the high, or low, desert but sure do appreciate it's unique beauty. Your horses just never cease to impress me. Good looking, good minded, and hoofs like iron I reckon. Just makes me smile.
Thanks for sharing another beautiful adventure. Take care.

Stellar ride and thanks for being us along. Viewing from OR dreaming of my own adventures. The audio on this is great. The rhythmic clop of the hooves, birds calling…it’s a cowboy’s (wannabe) lullaby.

That was a nice trip and find. I wonder if the Indians who lived there knew what an eclipse was??? It was probably pretty scary to them. Obviously it was news worthy on their news rock. Thanks for sharin!

Stone circles could have been tipi rings. These are found all over Wyoming and northern Colorado. Stone were used to hold these shelters down, would be my guess.
