Thankfully someone is finally getting to Clutch! Amazing band and have such a wide variety in their catalog. Been my favorite band since 2001. They no longer have the organ player sadly as he left after this album. The harmonica player is just a guest/lead singer from a band called 5 Horse Johnson. Neil plays the harmonica live.
I love love LOVE this song. And this band. It's so timeless and fresh. Clutch are incredibly underrated. So great to see them getting some much-deserved respect.
Hell, yeah! Clutch is legendary and should be on everyone's playlists!!!
And to answer the question about the title of the song. They took inspiration from Mississippi Fred McDowell's "Worried Life Blues", as well as from Muddy Waters & John Lee Hooker.
Lemmy himself declared this Clutch’s own “Ace Of Spades”.
Enough said.
Also, you totally look like Machine-the guy who recorded a few of their albums.
Clutch even after all these years are still in my opinion rock n blues best kept secret. They used to be classified as metal in the early 90's! Escape From the Prison Planet style!
RIP Mick Schauer. The 5th member of Clutch. We will always be indebted to you.
Neil Fallon is the singer, Jean-Paul Gaster is the drummer, Tim Sult is the guitarist and Dan Maines is the bassist. The harmonica player is Eric Oblander from a band named Five Horse Johnson, and Richard Moral is the Organ player on that album (From Beale Street to Oblivion).
I know I'm late seeing this. Had a lot going on lately but I'm glad you did one on Clutch. I fn love Neil Fallon's voice. All around such a phenomenal band. Gives me chicken skin evey time I listen to them. Also another fav band I enjoy a lot still to this day is Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.
I'd never heard of Clutch 'till I saw them open for Coheed and Cambria circa 2007. Very nearly stole the show from the headliner (their set included this track, naturally). They've been a staple on my playlist ever since, and their "Blast Tyrant" album easily has a spot in my top five rock albums of all time.
More Clutch please. Their stuff is always great.
The tone on the guitar hits so hard in this song.
CLUTCH! YES! May I request the songs Burning Beard, Drink to the Dead, and Space Grass? All Fabulous!
Clutch is flippin' amazing! This track is so motivating. Just grooves so hard!
You HAVE to do more Clutch. Best jam band ever.
Love this band! So happy you are getting a chance to hear this amazing band.
one of the best live bands in the world, without question!
YES 😆 Clutch is so amazing live.
Love "The Regulator", "Cypress Grove" and "The Incomparable Mr Flannery."
Thank you for reaching to them. A few people have started but they're still very underloved in the reaction community.
LOVE CLUTCH
THE BEST BAND YA NEVER HEARD OF................................
The Clutch rabbit hole is deep and should definitely be explored. if you liked THIS bluesy stuff, you'll like other songs by them.
The man on the harp was the guy from another band called Five Horse Johnson. I believe he/they and Clutch became acquainted on the Sucking the 70s project, where both bands were featured.
Yes you're right about the organ, something happened to it on our tour, and forgot what it was. Eric Oblander he Actually showed up and did a couple of shows with us playing the homonica like you see in the video. But at most of our shows instead of a harmonica it's Neal playing the guitar. Actually because the organ player and Eric aren't always there all the band members do their own solo
I used to do very early deliveries at my old work, which included a road trip that took an hour and a half and had to be done by 6.30 AM. I have to say, zooming down an empty highway at the break of dawn with Clutch blaring from the loudspeakers is the life.
They are back to the original four members
More clutch. Incredibly underrated band.
I have seen these guys a few times. They never disappoint. Check out Spacegrass, A Quick Death in Texas, or Escape from Prison Planet. Very bluesy...
R.I.P. Mick : (
Clutch! Thank you! First time i watched your vids and i love it, you have a new sub man! Love the piano on screen feature and great!!! Song choice
Check out "Son of Virginia", "A quick Death in Texas" and their blistering cover of "Fortunate Son"
These guys are AMAZING live!
So glad to see clutch love! A quick death in Texas is another great song by them that should be checked out!
The Dude Killing the harmonica is from a band called five horse Johnson he was just sitting in with Clutch.
Eric from Five Horse Johnson played harp on this tune.
Clutch are awesome! This song is actually a cover, keep up Howie lol
its a PARTIAL cover
Neil Fallon is such an under appreciated singer. Aside from Clutch you should check out his features on “die to live” by volbeat and “blood and thunder” by mastodon.
Great song and so many more! one of my favourite bands please do more of their songs! Burning Beard, Careful with that Mic, Drink to the dead, what would a wookie do? The face, ghoul wrangler, hot bottom feeder, sleestak lightning, 10001110101. Etc
Also check out their side projects "the company band" zombie barricades, hot topic woman also "Dunsmuir". Neil is amazing keep up the good work!
Best, grooviest band ever. Also look at what an awesome fanbase they have? Look at all your comments and look at any other clutch reaction video on RUclips, and the pages upon pages of nothing but positive comments and love.
You really want a trippy reaction check out Dog Fashion Disco ;-)
Check out Gravel Road by Clutch...
Clutch has been around for a long time now. I’ve been a fan since their first album, which was a MUCH different vibe than this song. All their albums are awesome but you should definitely check out their early stuff!! Big News and Big News II is probably my favorites.
Hey David,i highly recommend you to give a reaction to Radiohead as i see you havent done them yet. They are absolutely phenomenal. Some of favorites are Paranoid Android,Fake Plastic Trees, everything in its right place,Karma Police,Jigsaw falling into place, and weird Fishes/Arpeggi.I would love to see you react to these.
React to Katatonia
And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope - Ne Obliviscaris
If you want to see some songs that really encapsulate Clutch I'd recommend checking out "Burning Beard" or "The Incomparable Mr. Flannery". Really, anything off of the "Robot Hive/Exodus" album is great. They do a really great job of creating grooves with odd time signatures that are easy to jam along to.
fun fact

Please react to alex terribles cover of perpetual black second
Love the videos man! You should check out Die to Live by Volbeat, I think you may like it.
Also? Clutch fricken rules.
They WAY benefit from black music (this is partially covered from Muddy Waters.)
The dude on the harmonica is Eric Oblander from Five Horse Johnson.
Clutch is amazing. Keep em coming.
Clutch have been on my to-listen list for a while - enjoyed the sound but the singers voice irritates me a bit! Is that just me? Woo for texas blues, anyhow! On another note re how influential black American music has been, I think you'd enjoy Hozier's album 'Wasteland, Baby!'. When he released the album he shared a lot of the musicians/artists who inspired him and the spirit of the album, and collab-ed with Mavis Staples on Nina Cried Power. The album is a sweet listen but moreso it definitely prompted me to do a little bit of musical research.
How can a music teacher never heard of rockabilly and bluegrass. Black American music has been influential on White American music. Know what has influenced black american music? White american music. It's a quasi-closed system of feedback influences. We're better together, not beholden to the other.
No one is beholden. Everything is allowed to influence anything. I just believe it is important to acknowledge that without Black American Music, much of the music we appreciate and love, like rockabilly, just absolutely would not exist.
I'm sorry that you put a color on music
I think all American music involves black people. I mean what is American music if not a bunch of traditional sounds from other cultures colliding. Extremely unfortunate circumstances to say the least, but we should appreciate the good stuff. I will watch anything Clutch. I really have no preferences. There's not many songs I don't like at all. They're really underrated.
"How much have white americans benefited fom black american music?". You're looking at this all wrong chief, like most people do. Even though you think you're being egalitarian, you're still falling into the same trap. The question in the information age is, "How has American music influenced the world". I'm not going to get into a debate on societal ills. The point is humanity placed in historical context is headed in the right direction.
I don’t mind that opinion, I just don’t fully agree. I’m not being egalitarian, just truthful. I mean, I’d say that the world has benefited from Chinese food just as easily as the world has benefited from Black American Music. All of the foundational elements of the music that comes from the African American experience are the foundations of almost all of modern music. Love to debate this on CNN with you!! Lol, I really do love this conversations.
Why does it have to be "black" or "white" American? Why can't it just be American music? You're coming off a little racist, bro.
