How to get wrinkles out of your canvas

Just like clothing, canvases are made from cotton and linen, and they can be ironed. You need to be careful not to set the iron on a high heat though - keep it on a mid-range heat setting.

If you are using this method for acrylic please use a clean cloth between your iron and your canvas . Only use the smallest amount of water too. Love the video, thank you so much . I just did this method for the first time yesterday :)

Omg I had taken out 3 paintings from their frames while moving and rolled them up nicely. When u took them out of my luggage, they were unrecognizable. The painting is dry but it looks like it's cracked. I'm so very upset because I really enjoyed making those pieces. I'll try this iron trick and hopefully it works

Considering that she had basically no wrinkles when she started, I'm not surprised that it "worked". I have a canvas that was folded and one that was rolled. Both have wrinkles that are a lot more pronounced then what she had.

When you unrolled this canvas, it really didn’t have any ceases. The ones I have gotten Ed are folded pretty tight or rolled very tight. All of the folds or creases don’t come out

What if the canvas has already been framed and there is cardboard behind it? Could I do it from the front? No glass covering the framed canvas

This canvas barely had wrinkles. Show one the comes from a box folded in 4 and has deep creases. When you try to iron out creases it warps the canvas. Can that be corrected?

what if there is acrylic paint already painted on? My finished painting I left stuck on the wall as I didn't want to roll it up fell on the floor all wrinkled up. Came back after leaving the studio over night and seeing this... :(

Yes. I applied the same theory as watercolour paper. I taped the canvas on a piece of board painted side facedown but pulled the ends before taping the each side of the canvas (pulling as tight as possible before taping the ends). After that I sprayed LIGHTLY not only the areas that were affected but the whole canvas as equally as possible. And waited to dry. You will see the areas are better, then spray once more lightly. And eventually when dried the areas are back to normal.

Too much water you’re supposed to use the bare minimum so that it doesn’t get wet just enough so that it doesn’t burn
