Fantastic Sergio! Gobsmacked I am! Such beautiful layering of many kinds and an overall cheerful feeling . All my fave colours. What an incredible imprint the body scrubber has compared to the sponges. (Which are great too) this might actually help my arthritic thumb be not so overworked as much lol! Your partner must be hiding their cleaning and cooking supplies from you ,just kidding. I have found some terrific paint trays by using the plastic trayholders for a frozen dessert called Japanese mochi! They are perfect. You’re right. So many things in the house to be used yet. Your book is terrific by the way. I’m about 2/3 way through and everything you say is spot on. Well done Sergio. Thankyou for sharing your insights with us . You’re a talented writer too.

wow 💛 loving the impasto crackle effect, especially the gold against aqua, it sparked a memory of the bushtrack route we walked to high school and back in Lake Macquarie, there being an old Holden naturally rusting away with the elements... I always glanced at it when passing by because I loved the colour so much since it popped against the neutral tones of rust and steel ✨🕊

I love this, Sergio! I am wondering- what is the purpose of the undercoat, is it necessary to have it underneath the modeling paste? Colors are so wonderful in this piece! ❤🙏❤
Thank you so much for your kind words and your question! I'm glad you love the piece. 😊 The purpose of the undercoat is indeed crucial for achieving the crackling effect on the modeling paste. The undercoat, in this case, acts as a base layer with different drying properties compared to the modeling paste. When the modeling paste is applied over the still-tacky undercoat and both layers dry, they interact in a way that causes the paste to crack and create those beautiful textures. So, yes, the undercoat is necessary for that distinctive crackling effect you see in the artwork. It's a wonderful technique to experiment with in your own creative projects. Why use indigo first and then completely cover it up with different colors? I'm trying to learn and this confuses me.
Using indigo or any color as a base serves to prepare your canvas as you can do with gesso, I generally do it with a layer of gesso and then a layer of paint. Befor to start !
It has to give the base layer as acrylic works on layers. Also base colour always reflects and makes it smoother for other layers.If we consider mindful techniques, it's relaxing to paint layer by layer.
